- JohnandMarylouMilton, Massachusetts502 contributionsThe Boston Public Garden is beautiful and a wonderful place to spend an hour or two when you are downtown. Howver, we saw that the Friends of the Public Gardens do regular 1 hour tours on Tuesday mornings at 10 and Thursday afternoons at 4. We took the afternoon tour and it was wonderful. The guide was a volunteer and very knowledgeable and made the tour fun and interesting. It is definitely something worthwhile to do when you are downtown.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 October 2024
- Grover RPensacola, Florida22,740 contributionsThe Boston Common gets most of the ink for its history, but the best park in the city is the Boston Public Garden. This 24 acre park was designed as a civic green space park with a 4 acre pond and true gardens unlike its neighbor, the Common. The park dates back to 1837 when the mud flats of the Back Bay were drained and converted to this public space amenity as the city began its expansion with a new neighborhood. Unlike the Common which is really just common space, the Public Garden is a true garden/park with civic features like statues, pond, bridge and planned botanicals like trees and flower gardens. The best known feature is the pond with the famous Swan Boats. The is also a great bridge that spans the pond and is made for pictures. The children's story "Make Way for Ducklings" takes place here, so it is only appropriate the statue is here in the park as well. However, the most popular and photographed statue is also here, the one of George Washington on horseback with the backdrop of downtown behind. Unfortunately, there is construction around the statue, so the picture is blocked and not as clean. Still, it is a great site. Our visit here included a Swan Boat ride and great pictures of the group in several areas of the park. We also got great photos of the statue and true Boston attraction. Make time on your Boston stay to visit the Public Garden. It is the BEST park in Boston and a MUST see.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 March 2025
- tinylassSheffield, United Kingdom6,392 contributionsThe park was close to our hotel so we found ourselves here a few times. It was spotlessly clean and extremely pretty. It was lovely to watch the birds on the lake, take a stroll around, see wedding parties having their photographs taken and generally just sitting and watching the world go by!Visited October 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 October 2024
- Kimitaka STaichung, Taiwan15,842 contributionsA park adjacent to Boston Common, slightly smaller than Boston Common. There is a large pond in the center that serves as a place for citizens to relax. Duck objects in the park are a popular photo spot. A straight promenade called Commonwealth Avenue continues west from this park.Visited January 2024Travelled soloWritten 1 July 2024
- MarleneBoston, Massachusetts10 contributionsThe Boston Public Garden is my favorite place to wind down after work and to spend some good time during summer. Its serene atmosphere, beautiful flowerbeds, and peaceful lagoon create a perfect escape from the city's hustle. The swan boats add a charming touch, and there's always a quiet bench to relax on. Whether enjoying a leisurely stroll or just soaking in the beauty, the garden is an ideal spot to chill.Visited June 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 29 June 2024
- Derrick AwSingapore, Singapore1,355 contributionsThis is one of the more beautiful urban gardens I’ve been to. The area is huge, and very CLEAN. There are lots of benches (or you can just put a rug on the vast expanse of grass). Some interesting monuments and art installations notably look out for “The Embrace”. The park is divided into two portions separated by a road. On one side are lots of flower beds (mainly tulips, which are always pretty) and a lake with boat rides. I popped by after lunch and sat and walked around, leisurely, for almost two hours. It’s nice, in this cool weather!!Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten 21 April 2024
- KieraTin603Danbury, New Hampshire504 contributionsI’ve visited in winter and again in summer both experiences were great. In winter there was ice skating and Christmas lights setting a very romantic atmosphere. In summer the gardens are well maintained for the amount of people visiting. I enjoyed the rose garden area.Visited December 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 January 2025
- Laurie133 contributionsThere are many clean paths, beautiful sculptures scattered throughout. The flowers are beautiful and there are a lot of benches in the shade to rest and relax. The swan rides on the water end just before Labor Day, so if you’re wanting to do that now, you’re too late.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 September 2024
- Alireza123Tehran, Iran1,407 contributionsMy wife and I stayed in Boston for four nights. Our hotel was near the garden and we arranged to cross it every day of our stay at least two times. In April it was a frame of a master piece. Very beautiful . It is not very big like central park in NY If you sit for a few minutes, one hour is enough. If you want to eat and drink and play half a day is good .Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 May 2024
- Roy PTampa, Florida463 contributionsMy wife and I went walking to several different points of interest and the garden was one of them. We were not sure what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. It was really beautiful. Fairly quiet, laid out well, and peaceful. Nice walking paths, a pond with a bridge, and many different trees that are marked what they are. It was a very nice experience. We would highly recommend especially if you are close enough to walk to it. Parking can be tough.Visited October 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 October 2024
