The Sudwala Caves is the oldest known caves in the world and lie in the Drakensberg escarpment.Regular guided tours take you 600 meters in and 150 meters underground. Tours leave every 10 min (approx) and take about 30 minutes.The caves have some amazing formations including stalactites, stalagmites, flow stones and pre cambrian fossils. The most famous formation is the Screaming Monster. This is actually a stalactite that has joined with a stalagmite and has formed a column that is 200 million years old.

The tour was insightful and our guide, KB, was naturally funny and engaging. With our next visit, the kids will be old enough, in order for us to do the crawling into the belly of the mountain-tour. We will also do the zipline! Their restaurant, cafe and shop is also reasonably priced, no overcharging for tourists here. You will also love their ice cream on a cone :)

The Sudwala Caves are ancient caves formed about 240 million years ago and are among the oldest caves in the world. For visit them you have to go down about 500/600 meters below land and the visit lasts 1 hour. It is open from 8.30 - 16.30 and costs about 6.00 euros. Highly recommended

This destination left me utterly breathless! As home to the oldest known cave systems in the world, it's an absolute marvel. The ancient rock formations, with some dating back an astonishing 130 million years, are truly awe-inspiring. The experience is remarkably affordable, with tickets priced at R120 per adult. Guided tours run every 10 minutes, ensuring a seamless and informative experience. I highly recommend adding this natural wonder to your bucket list. The sheer magnitude and beauty of these ancient caves make for an unforgettable adventure. Don't miss out!

What a fantastic trip out for our family. The cave tour guide was amazing, informative and humorous. Caves well looked after. We also did the zip line. What a treat! The staff at the zipline are superb. Exhilarating, beautiful view from the zip line, felt safe from start to finish. Equipment is well-maintained, staff knowledgeable and amenable. Restaurant is great too ... good variety in menu and the food was delicious.

This was my second time and it is still one of the best tourist attractions. You get to see the beauty of nature and are educated at the same time. The guided tours are always great and it would be a pity if these are discontinued. In addition the zip line and the magnificent viewing sites make it a gem of a site. Will definitely come back again. You can take toddlers in, which is always a plus for parents with toddlers.
