Soi Dog Foundation is S.E. Asia’s largest rescue organisation for vulnerable stray dogs and cats. For 20 years, supported by generous donations and global volunteers, SDF has worked tirelessly to reduce animal suffering through CNVR (Catch; Neuter; Vaccinate; Return) programmes. For animals unable to be returned safely to the streets, SDF provides sanctuary, as well as local and international adoption services. SDF is a haven where sick and vulnerable dogs and cats receive world-class medical care, and love. SDF is working in several countries to help end the inhumane and barbaric dog meat trade. Guided tours available Monday-Friday at 10:00am and 1:30pm. Following the 40-minute tour, visitors are encouraged to socialise with our lovely cats and dogs. Impromtu tours are not available between 11:30am and 1:00pm, although between these times, visitors are invited to socialise in the cattery or spend time in the visitor centre. Volunteers are welcome Monday to Friday from 9am.

We spent a very enjoyable (albeit emotional) few hours at Soi Dog - 1600 dogs and 1400 cats in care the day we visited, and I wish I could have adopted some of them but due to Australia's quarantine laws that just wasn't possible. It seems like one dog in every 4 was missing a limb but they are in a safe place now just waiting for their forever homes. Next time we go I will do a few days volunteering. We were so impressed with the set up and amazing rescue work they do making the world a better place for abused, neglected, sick, stray street animals. We volunteer at rescue organisations in Australia and it their set up was way better and completely exceeded our expectations. Such an incredible experience, extremely well organised and clean. Had the opportunity to see and spend time with the most beautiful dogs and cats and did a tour of their fantastic facilities. All of the areas were well kept and clean, the animals looked healthy and all had access to clean water, beds, toys etc. Sylvia gave us a tour and was amazing, so knowledgeable and passionate about her work, a really lovely lady. We now feel we know more about the dogs we see on a daily basis around Thailand and understand better the work the foundation does. This organisation does amazing work for the street dogs and cats, including rescuing abuse victims, road accident victims plus they run a successful neutering and vaccination program. Dog lovers will be in their element coming here to volunteer, walking and socialising these beautiful dogs. Or if on holiday in Phuket pop in for their tour of the facilities and give a donation. The foundation is about a 15 min drive from the airport so we stopped by once we arrived, before heading into central Phuket. The experience was absolutely incredible, from the informative tour to the interactions with adorable cats and puppies.
