The gondola was amazing, the views breathtaking and the staff extremely friendly. We were early in the season so check when it will be open. The city has a rich history worth investigating. Allow time to acclimate so you fully enjoy the experience. Park your car and use buses and shuttles to get around.

A must when in Aspen. Tickets are for sale at the base of the gondola. I think they were $37 per person? Pricey, but EVERYTHING is in Aspen. Very nice ride up to the top of the mountain. Ticket gets you up and back during operating hours. There is a restaurant at the top that serves surprisingly good food. Lots of space to sit and enjoy the view both inside and out. There are trails to hike and they offer free nature hikes that I think go on the hour. A few play areas for the kids as well. Of course the views are amazing. If you are in Aspen and don't do this for 1/2 a day give or take you are missing out. My kids are teens and they enjoyed this but this would be a great activity for families with younger kids. When we were at the top they were having a bluegrass festival with live music outside.

Fun ride up to the summit of Aspen Mountain. We took the complimentary 45 minute nature hike (which was worth doing) and then continued on along the Ridge Trail for another 30-40 minutes before turning around. It was a gorgeous summer day, and it was magnificently quiet among the aspens. Nice views of the city from the gondola. We contemplated hiking up or down the mountain but in the end, taking the gondola was the better choice. We weren’t impressed by the food options at the top (ski resort caferteria), so we opted not to eat up there.
