Visiting Washington, DC, with my wife and our two young kids (ages 6 and 7) was an incredible experience! The historical monuments like the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, and Washington Monument were breathtaking. It’s something else to see these landmarks in person, especially with little ones—they were awestruck. The National Museum of Natural History was a huge hit with the kids; the exhibits are engaging and really brought the wonder of history and nature to life for them. The Air and Space Museum was partially under construction, so it didn’t have quite the “wow” factor we were hoping for. However, spending a few hours in Alexandria turned out to be a pleasant surprise; the quaint streets and charm gave us a bit of variety and made the trip even more memorable. Two downsides were parking and the cost of eating out. Parking can be a hassle in DC, so I’d recommend planning for that ahead. Dining out is on the pricier side, so families might want to budget accordingly or consider some packed meals. My biggest piece of advice? Dress comfortably and wear good running shoes—there’s a lot of walking, and you’ll want to be ready for it. Overall, this was one of our best family vacations yet! The blend of history, culture, and adventure made it unforgettable.

My husband & I took our grandsons, 12 & 14 to DC so they could enjoy and experience our nation's capital. We had 3 full days and we really filled them. We stayed in the Capital Hill/Navy Yard area which does have many restaurants, is close to a Metro station as well as the Baeball stadium. For the Air & Space museum get tickets ahead - it gets full so ticket/passes are needed (free). we go to the Hirschorn Modern Art museum, The Potrait Museum, The Holocaust Museum, American History museum. Also had a tour of the White House as well as the Capital. The Capital tour was a big hit. Made it to most of the monuments during the day but also went back at night because they are stunning at night. Last museum was the International Spy Museum (not a mithsonian and $ticket needed. Went to the National Zoo too, although if short on time skip it. Eastern Market (Capital Hill) is a great stop too. We never made it to Georgetown - next time! (I've been there many times so I didn't mind) Our boys were very engaged at all the Museums - thrye loved Spy Museum.

Lincoln Memorial is located in the west of National Mall in Washington DC. The statue is in the memory of America's 16th President and one of the greatest leaders of the country who began the struggle for racial equality and justice for the black people of America. The 99 feet high marble statue of Lincoln sitting on a chair and high pedestal is housed inside a large hall that is surrounded by 36 Doric style columns representing the number of states at the time of his death. He survived the Civil War between the northern and southern parts of the America and sacrificed his life for the enslaved and downtrodden people of America, justifying the epitaph inscribed on the wall behind his statue that reads- 'In this temple in the hearts of the people for whom he saved the Union the memory of Abraham Lincoln is enshrined forever.' There are large murals with inscriptions on the other two side walls representing Gettysburg speech and Inaugural Address. In one of the steps outside the statue is inscribed, " I have A Dream" the famous words of Martin Luther King Jr.

One of the most visited and most photographed attractions in Washington DC is the Lincoln Memorial. The large stone structure and the statue of Lincoln, seated in a chair, are images that most everyone will recognize. Approaching the Lincoln Memorial, you will need to be prepared to walk some steps. It seems like a lot from a distance, but once you get closer and start walking up the steps, it’s not bad at all. If you cannot walk the steps, due to being in a wheelchair or any other reason, this is not a problem because there is also a ramp. Once inside, you will be presented with the large statue of Lincoln, which takes center stage. Surrounding the statue are important quotes, including Lincoln’s famous Gettysburg address. Some will spend time reading this and other quotes, but the majority of people who visit will simply pay their respects to one of our greatest presidents, snap a few pictures, and continue on to other attractions. The Lincoln Memorial is an iconic attraction, to be certain, and it is offered free of charge. The large pillars on both the outside and inside of the building make you feel like you are entering a shrine, a holy place. Everyone is familiar with the Lincoln Memorial and most already know what it looks like from all the shared photos, but it is still a must- visit place for your next visit to Washington DC.

Visiting the Lincoln Memorial was a truly humbling experience. Standing before the towering statue of Lincoln, I felt a deep sense of history and reverence. The view of the Reflecting Pool and Washington Monument at sunset was breathtaking—absolutely iconic.

Lincoln Memorial is located in the Mall area. As with many monuments in the city, this one is designed in a classical style and closely resembles a Greek or Roman temple. The 19-foot-tall statue of Lincoln looks out from a solemn chamber in a building surrounded by 36 columns, each representing a state in the union at the time of Lincoln's death. Admission is free and the Memorial is always open, except for Christmas. In addition to being a symbol of the city, it hosts many events and is famous for being the venue from where Martin Luther King Jr delivered the “I have a dream” speech in 1963. In this period the memorial is subject to important work for the construction of a museum dedicated to Lincoln. Despite the work the charm of the monument does not fail, it should be a bit more respectful and less noisy, remembering that it is still a memorial. If there was more silence the place, with its beautiful view of the Mall, would be phenomenal.

The Lincoln Memorial is located at one end of the National Mall, with the US Capitol on the other. The memorial itself can be seen from a distance. There is a fairly large park area around the memorial as well as a reflection pool just in front of it, which leads to the WWII memorial. Unsurprisingly, it was busy. You can walk up the stairs or the ramp to get to the top. They were in the process of rebuilding the museum in the undercroft of the monument. Due to this, the stairs had coverings for the construction. After heading up the stairs, you see the fairly large seated Lincoln inside the building. There wasn't much else in the building other than the statue. The walls on both sides did have inscriptions. The view after heading out is quite nice, with the Washington Monument in the distance and the poll just in front. It is worth a stop since it is something that is seen quite a lot on TV and does look nicer in real life.

I arrived at the Memorial early on a Tuesday morning before the tourist and school groups arrived, and for at least 15 minutes had the Memorial to myself. The Memorial is an impressive building based on Neo classical architecture and the sculpture of Lincoln is fantastic, The murals and inscription on the walls inside are also very impressive. There is some construction taking place outside of the memorial so this sails the exterior views of the front of the structure. There are also great views of the National Mall, Monument and Capitol Building from the Memorial. It can become very busy at peak times so visit early as I did.

One of the many beautiful memorials in Washington DC. The view from there is wonderful over the National Mall to the Capitol. The size is very impressive. Seen so often in many films and then suddenly you are standing in front of it. The texts engraved on the wall are also worth reading. At the moment the memorial is only partially open because it is being built or renovated, like many places in Washington DC. The rush of visitors to the open site is therefore all the greater.

I had eagerly looked forward to to the Lincoln Memorial, Pres. Lincoln being my most revered President. We were there around sunset, so the picture-taking wasn’t the best. There was a huge accessible ramp constructed to bypass construction taking place, and construction fencing and barriers blocked part of the view of the iconic memorial and statue from below. I walked up the stairs to the inside, though the lighting inside wasn’t great for my pictures at that time of day. I was somewhat dismayed at the numerous teenage students who were milling about, shouting and laughing, and taking selfies, showing no reverence or thought for where they were. Still, standing at the foot of the statue was an awe-inspiring experience to see & ponder. I’ve very glad I went there, and would recommend as a Must-See memorial in Washington DC.
