    Spectacular Views
Our second time in Budapest after arriving at the end of our river cruise and flying out later the same afternoon, so we quickly covered some old ground. Fisherman Bastion showcases fantastic views of this beautiful city on the other side of Danube, including Hungary's Parliament Buildings and bridges. From the opposite side of the river of course, you are treated to amazing views of the turrets and white stone walls. The entire area is steeped in history with lots of things to see and wander.

Fisherman's Bastian is a Must visit place for many reasons!
The remake of these walls gives everyone the feel of what the originals looked like. The important thing is what they represented. Fisherman's Bastion is one of the best known monuments in Budapest, located near the Buda Castle. Just like any monument, it is to show or remind us what it symbolized. The Fisherman’s Bastion was built between 1895 and 1902 as part of the series of developments that were to celebrate the 1000th birthday of the Hungarian state. The bastion was built as a viewing terrace with lookout towers on the base of a stretch of the castle walls (from the 17-18th century). Rather than building sturdy thick stone walls, the intention was to present the locals with a communal panorama terrace, as the Buda Castle was no longer considered to be a military place. The statue of St Stephen and the beautiful Cathedral of St Mathias next to the walls remind us of the beauty of this place.

    Fisherman's Bastion Budapest
You can go here with bus 26 Beautiful building. Especially looking from the bottom up. You can take a tour through it. We had something to drink there. The Mathias church is on the square. A late Gothic Roman Catholic church. Entrance tickets are also available on that square.

Brilliant views over Buda and the river Danube
Visited the castle area with friends and the Fisherman’s Bastion as part of that. Breathtaking views and walks along the walls with great photo opportunities. Could see both sides of the city and for miles up and down the Danube. The whole area was well kept and very clean with access to food and drinks on either side of the Fisherman’s Bastion. Recommended for the views.

Fantastic views over Buda, The Danube & Pest
The views from up here are stunning. Do not pay to walk the wall (about 100m) as you can below the wall and get the same angle but about 3m lower! The buildings are undergoing major renovations at the moment (March 2024) and I would assume that will continue for a few years. It does not detract from the overall impression of the place though. Well worth the walk up the hill.

    Slightly frustrated
Queued forever for a short wall walk! I didn't research what I was buying. However, the views were amazing. As you can imagine, you get held up a lot by intagrmmers trying to get that perfect shot (eye roll) Would have appreciated it more had the walk lasted longer than queuing for the ticket.

    Unmissable attraction in Budapest
Very beautiful and particular structure from which you can enjoy an excellent view of Pest. There is also the possibility of climbing the bastion with a ticket of 1200 forints. In the immediate vicinity there is the equestrian statue of Saint Stephen and the Matthias church

One of the best sunsets of Budapest!
Along with the Buda Castle, this is a visit you need to make when you’re in town. And it’s just a quick stroll away from it! Usually is quite busy, but you can always find a good spot for pictures, or even just to admire the sunset on the other side of the Danube river.

    Picturesque Viewing Spot
This fairytale looking structure high on the banks of the Danube provides an excellent vantage point to look back across the river towards parliament. The area is a nice public space, with Mathias church, statues, and other points of interest. When we visited there was the added bonus of a a small, snowy Christmas market, although it was very crowded and slippery.
