It was noisy, sometimes the brakes screech and we let the first one go by as it was jam packed, but the next one past we easily found a seat and enjoyed a trip around the city. Works well as a hop on hop off as they are frequent and it's free. Great way to take a look around central Melbourne.

The City Circle Tram is such a convenient and easy way to explore Sydney’s key attractions. It’s a great way to see the city, especially if you’re short on time. The tram takes you around all the major spots, including Circular Quay, Darling Harbour, and The Rocks, with free rides making it perfect for tourists. The views are great, and it’s an excellent way to get a feel for the city without the hassle of public transport. Highly recommend it for a relaxed sightseeing

So I finally made it to Melbourne! What a beautiful city after the last few weeks exploring Sydney and its surroundings - everyone has been telling me I would love Melbourne so much more because it has more of a European feel. 100% correct. Really love this city and can't wait to explore more of it.

The tram number 35 runs around the city center. If you want to leave the free section, you will need a Myki card, but if you only want to use this free tram, there is no need to purchase a Myki card. both There are directions, but they run all the way around the city center, so no matter which direction you take the tram, it makes a difference whether you'll arrive early or late. At the tram stop, you just hop on and off the tram without doing anything.

City Circle is a "shake, rattle and roll" operation that goes around the Melbourne CBD about every half an hour. The City Circle Tram is a good place to look out in Melbourne, it's a favorite starting point around the city. There's no ticket, just jump off and on as you see fit.

Tram 35 , the free city circle tram is a wonderful way to cover a lot of CBD and around. You can hop on and off any time. The tram is old to give the taste of history of trams in Melbourne. Although all tram services are having a Free Tram Zone around CBD, this is a fully free route. Catch it near Flinders street if you like.

A small tram so not a lot of space in busy periods. Good information as you travel around the centre in what is effectively a circle. It can take just over an hour to do the full route. The only drawback is the train only operates in one direction. That said, on one day, there were some protests so they had the train operating the opposite way round to the way it normally goes. What is excellent is that all trams operating within the central area, not just this one, (city maps indicate what this covers) are free.
