The Museum is one of the most important of its kind in the world thanks to it vast collection and the many different scientific and educational activities it carries out. But what makes it truly unique is its special exhibit setup. The museum is located inside the Mole Antonelliana, a bizarre and fascinating monument which is the symbol of the City of Torino. And the various areas inside the Mole Antonelliana were the starting point for the Swiss set designer François Confino who, with talent and imagination, multiplied the museum's itineraries. He created a spectacular presentation that offers visitors continuous and unexpected visual and acoustic stimuli, just like when we watch a film that involves and moves us.

A MUST NOT JUST FOR CINEMA FANS
Museum developed in a vertical and concentric path that narrates the history of cinema in an enthusiastic and interactive way, starting from the discoveries in the field of optics that made it possible and from its predecessors' entertainment activities up to virtual reality cinema. Other sections are instead dedicated to the different film genres, the different phases of the creation of a film production and posters. A special note of merit goes to the exhibition displays which contribute to making the visit surprising and fun. The suspended helical staircase inside the building is dedicated to temporary exhibitions (at the time of my visit there was an excellent monographic exhibition on Tim Burton). The fact that everything is housed inside the most iconic building in the city of Turin and that a spectacular elevator with glass walls gives the possibility of an overview of the interior of the museum from above makes it an absolute must.

    But what a show!
Let me start by saying that we got the Turin-Piedmont card and booked entry to the museum, plus the Tim Burton exhibition. At the beginning we start from A B C, practically explaining the lenses and the various angles, and then showing us the first optical boxes, stereoscopy (the origins of 3D), moving images and so on, until the birth of cinema. An interactive and very interesting museum. Then you enter the main hall and from there you will find a bit of everything, cinema lovers have something for everyone. You go up with stairs and each floor is waiting to be discovered. The Tim Burton exhibition is really detailed, the drawings fantastic, we saw some done on napkins or newsprint. Crazy. For the elevator everything was sold out. What a shame, we'll have to come back 😜 highly recommended for us!

    Dizziness
The cinema museum is an excellence of Turin, I have seen it several times and I recommend it to everyone for the incredible set-up. Unfortunately, the Tim Burton exhibition was a pain because practically the entire exhibition takes place on the aerial walkway that runs along the walls of the building overlooking the void, impossible for those who suffer from vertigo and when crowded. The smaller screens on which the films are shown are in positions where it is impossible to stop and watch them without blocking the passage of other people. I understand the limitations of the spaces, but this way the exhibition becomes unusable. Also once you enter the museum there are no directions on where to follow for the temporary "Tim Burton".

Truly exceptional tribute to Tim Burton! Very well located and definitely wonderful. It's a shame that the Cinema Museum itself should be spruced up for a moment, it's exactly the same as the first time I set foot about twenty years ago. Clearly that's the story, but all the machinery where you have to look close to see scenes extrapolated from feature films stinks a lot and have deteriorated over time. The internal lift and the view from the tip of the Mole are always beautiful.

    "Tim Burton" to see
The museum itself is interesting but I think the temporary exhibition The World of Tim Burton is not to be missed. Unfortunately it will end soon and booking on the site is no longer possible. I recommend going directly to the place before 8.45am and waiting for it to open (we were inside at 9.10am). It's the only way to be sure of getting in quickly, the alternative is a couple of hours of queuing. The staggered entrances allow you to visit everything calmly and without the crowding typical of important art exhibitions.

The exhibition on Tim Burton is interesting and curious
It is a cold and rainy Sunday in March when the guided tour of the "The World of Tim Burton" exhibition awaits us, booked for some time (€5). Our turn is at 10, but at 9.15 there is already a queue at the entrance. They let us in with priority and, while we wait, we take a tour of the book shop. Books and gadgets abound (magnets, postcards, diaries, pencils, chocolates...), even if at certainly not popular prices! Despite this, the queue at the checkout is long... Having paid the necessary commercial tax, we enjoy the film on the history of the Museum, with the images that flow and narrate. A beautiful story that of Adriana Prolo who begins to collect film material in the markets and contacts filmmakers and production companies, collecting objects and testimonies of all kinds. The guide arrives punctually (young, friendly, prepared) and the visit can begin. The exhibition develops along the spiral ramp that rises inside the Mole, of which the gigantic concrete pillars that protect and support the original brick structure of the architect are impressive. Antonelli. The exhibition follows the evolution of Tim Burton's work: from his youthful influences, which directed his spirit towards fantastic and monstrous forms but tinged with humor and irony, to his first films, to his work at Disney, full of bitterness and disappointments, up to to the first successes and international recognition. Here is the reconstruction of the artist's studio, the unreal images that he brought to paper, notebooks, bar wipes, in an irrepressible and sudden creative flair. There are photographs, notes, drawings, small and large mannequins made to his specifications, film scenes, animations... An exhibition not to be missed, interesting and curious.

    Nice museum visit
I have already been to this museum twice and both times it was interesting. The visit lasts approximately 1:30/2 h, it is interactive and interesting even for the little ones. The rooms are large and dark (dimly lit but atmospheric). You can only purchase the ticket for the museum visit or even to go up the Mole Antonelliana via the lift (a unique experience if you are lucky enough to find good weather). The only flaw: there are never any seats during the visit.

The National Cinema Museum in Turin and Mole Antonelliana.
The National Cinema Museum in Turin is one of the most important Italian cinema museums, located inside the suggestive Mole Antonelliana where you can retrace the entire history of Cinema, from its origins to today, through the large rooms set up with interactive stations/ multimedia but also posters, sketches, drawings, story boards (in this period of the beautiful Tim Burton exhibition) also climbing up a helical staircase, up to the dome of the Mole Antonelliana which, in itself, makes the route itself magical, how magical cinema is. Then there are the rooms that house devices/machinery, magic lanterns, shadow theater from the early 1900s for cinematographic tricks (the first special effects). The whole thing is truly amazing. Absolutely worth visiting.

    Permanent exhibition + Tim Burton
The museum includes a first "historical" part which explains the techniques that preceded the birth of cinema. Subsequently, once you finally arrive at the base of the Mole, you could easily find yourself confused for a few minutes trying to understand how best to proceed along the route. The rooms surround the entire central space and are connected to each other, although to better understand the themes it would be much better to enter each of them from the "main door". The most interesting part for me is certainly the short videos that explain how a film scene is born and how much work is behind adapting the shots. The Tim Burton exhibition unfolds along an uphill route, unfortunately not very suitable for those who suffer from vertigo. However, his works are so fascinating that they allow you to keep your eyes fixed on the walls and proceed (almost) to the top. The limited entrances allow you to visit the museum with peace of mind, without ever having to crowd.

Fantastic - interactive and imaginative! Make sure to include panoramic lift!
This is a fantastic museum for learning about the history of the beginning of cinema, and then well-curated rooms about different genres and filmmaking roles. Very interactive and imaginative presentations. Make sure to get the ticket for the panoramic lift to the top of the museum - the view is breathtaking! And the ride up and down (there is no elevator shaft) is part of the adventure!
