Casa Mila, popularly known as La Pedrera, is a most unusual building, constructed between 1906 and 1912 by the architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926) and declared UNESCO World Heritage in 1984. Today it is the headquarters of Fundacio Catalunya La Pedrera and houses a cultural centre that is a reference point in Barcelona for the range of activities it organises and the different spaces for exhibitions and other public uses it contains. What can I say about Casa Mila (aka La Pedrera) that hasn’t already been said? Very little. My friend and I visited in a gloriously sunny week towards the end of November. Having been warned of long queues, we had purchased our tickets online beforehand, but when we arrived mid-morning, there was no queue in sight and we were admitted in seconds. We had booked on La Pedrera’s official website where there are currently nine different tour options available, but we only bought the Essential ticket with which you can walk through this astonishing building at your own pace and spend as much time as you like, using a free audio guide if you like. Tickets cost 28 Euro per adult and 19 Euro for seniors 65+ years. Not having been to any of Gaudi’s buildings before, I found the entry fee quite high but honestly, exiting Casa Mila after well over two hours spent inside and on the rooftop, I thought it excellent value for money and I would like to think that by paying our way in, we have contributed in some small measure to the upkeep of this amazing architectural gem. The publicly accessible parts of Casa Mila are in wonderful condition and spotlessly clean, including the visitor toilets. There is lots of staff, mostly young guides who are easy to approach and exceptionally friendly and helpful, with good to very good English. Obviously, such service comes at a price. Anyway, the building: I’ve never seen anything like it. Gaudi’s love of nature and organic shapes and forms showed in everything we saw. The man was wayyyyyy ahead of his time, combining art and design with practical elements, including the first ever residential underground garage, ventilation of the apartments contained in the building, ergonomic door handles etc. The visitable apartment is incredibly gorgeous, particularly for lovers of Art Nouveau. The attic construction is nothing short of astonishing. The roof terrace is just magical, and if you can tear your eyes away from the beauty of the roof, spare a glance for the gorgeous old buildings of the surrounding streetscape and also the Sagrada Familia in the near distance. I’m hoping to be back in Barcelona next spring to visit all of Gaudi’s visitable buildings and will definitely go and see Casa Mila again. My compliments to the welcoming staff, from ticketing to security screening, gift shop and housekeeping, and the young people from the visitor service team. Your genuine friendliness was much appreciated!

Can learn much about Gaudi here especially in the attic with its models & methods of construction for various sites. Helpful staff and we used the free digital guides you are given on entry. They follow you round and the recording changes where ever you are in the building. We had two highlights - the fully furnished apartment - quite large with various rooms and original furniture of the time [early 20th C]. Much thought given by Gaudi to the layout, for natural lighting etc. The other highlight was, of course, the roof top with the various chimney types and air vents. You miss much if this is closed due to bad weather, so rearrange if this happens. Good views over the city.

Although I preferred Casa Batllo, Casa Mila is definitely worth a visit. It’s perhaps the most unique apartment complex in the world. The audio guide provides fascinating insight into the building without being boring or difficult to understand. I recommend making sure you tour the apartment as there are lots of interesting details here. The other highlight of the visit is the roof, with its unique chimneys. Although there are lots of stairs on the roof. But there is an elevator that you can take downstairs if you need to

This is one of the few places that can be safely said to have been created by a genius. The building is very characteristic from the outside, not only because of the crowds of tourists in front of the entrance, a little less known inside, but equally amazing. Gaudi created something wonderful, not only as the facade of the building, but also as the interior - there are no simple and boring rooms or staircases inside. Everything is in Gaudi's characteristic style. We definitely recommend it, both from the outside and inside. Only this price...

A classic stop at Barcelona! A visit to admire one of the many modernist architectures of the Catalan city. To avoid surprises booked through site and everything was resolved quickly. Lots of angles, lots of details everywhere. Don't forget to appreciate before going out the beautiful stair railings and the "light" right on the ceiling next to the door. Certainly in good weather the roof with its chimneys is magical. Radiators, bathrooms with water through pipes, "garage" for carriages today event room.... all to be discovered. Visit carried out independently.

Seen from the outside you realize how much passion and will it takes to make an architect's dream come true. Internally you can admire an apartment left totally original both in the Spanish walnut furniture from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century and in all the finishes such as the tiles and parquet. The ironwork of the balcony railings is masterfully crafted in a modernist style. The terrace with the oversized chimneys give the impression of the desire to show the grandeur of the project. Finally, you can see in the background, not far away, the colored spiers of the Sagrada Familia. Incredible.

**Casa Milà**, popularly known as *La Pedrera* ("The Stone Quarry"), is a famous modernist building located in Barcelona, Spain. Designed by renowned architect **Antoni Gaudí**, it was completed in 1912 and is considered one of his most extraordinary works. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Casa Milà exemplifies Gaudí's innovative approach to architecture, blending organic forms, natural inspiration, and groundbreaking engineering. Key features of Casa Milà include its undulating stone facade, wrought-iron balconies, and rooftop terrace adorned with surrealistic chimneys and sculptures. The building lacks straight lines, reflecting Gaudí's preference for organic shapes inspired by nature. Inside, the design incorporates innovative ventilation and light management systems for its time. Initially built as a private residence for the Milà family, it now serves as a cultural center hosting exhibitions, events, and tours. Visitors can explore the apartment museum, learn about Gaudí's creative vision, and enjoy panoramic views of Barcelona from the rooftop. Casa Milà remains a symbol of Catalan Modernism and Gaudí's genius.

This place is so beautiful! There’s so much shots from Gaudi’s many spots—it’s the best-of-the-best and the best value for money! ️ The upper floors showcase statues and utensils, and the rooftop terrace overlooks the Basílica de la Sagrada Família. For those who love the architecture at its most, stop here. (Must book ahead, too, as the sales pages are more expensive.)

Observing Casa Milà’s undulating stone facade and wrought-iron balconies reminiscent of seaweed showcases Gaudí’s innovative approach. The building’s organic curves and intricate details make it a standout example of modernist architecture. Even without venturing inside, the exterior alone offers a captivating glimpse into Gaudí’s genius.

Whoever has seen Casa Ballo will not confuse Casa Mila with anything, and will immediately know that this is another Antonio Gaudí masterpiece... After all, this house has the same smooth (as if flowing) look, the figures on the roof resemble those living on the roof of Ballo. As in his other new period creations, Gaudí uses Trencadis mosaics of broken ceramics, pebbles, marble and glass in some of the details. But this building turned out to be homogeneous (as if sculpted from a single piece of clay) and white, unlike Ballo's house. The balcony railings, here like entwined extremely bizarre branches - testify, once again, to the architect's love of nature. Despite this seemingly disorganized appearance - the building is carefully planned both inside and out. I've written before that all Gaudí's structures inspire me to think of fiction for real. So I want to take all his creations and transfer (repeat) to some other planet, naming it Gaudiya.)))

Basilica de la Sagrada Familia is a church devoted to the Holy Family. One of Antoni Gaudi’s most famous works, the church is perhaps best known for still being under construction since 1882—with works funded purely by donations. Take a lift to the top of the towers for a panoramic view of the city and marvel at the ornate architecture. The nativity facade and crypt have also been awarded UNESCO World Heritage Status. Skip the line with a pre-booked tour with tower access, or combine your visit with another of Gaudi's work, Parc Guell. – Tripadvisor

This pedestrian-only street is a rite of passage for first-time travelers in Barcelona. Starting from Plaça de Catalunya, amble along the boulevard where you'll find food kiosks and spot famed attractions like the Gran Teatre del Liceu theater, the Palau de la Virreina Palace, and La Boquería market—the city’s famous marketplace. Entertainment is plenty too thanks to the human statues and caricature artists, amidst other wacky street performers.
