The Champs Élysées is often said to be the most glamorous avenue in the world so it’s not surprising that it features high on a lot people’s list of things to do in Paris. It runs between the Arc de Triomphe and the Place de La Concorde. We started at the Arc de Triomphe and walked the length of it, which took us just under an hour, walking at a leisurely pace. We weren’t stopping for coffee or doing any extended shopping but we weren’t rushing either. I’m not sure that it lives up to the hype. Certainly all the glamorous, high-end names are here - Chanel, Tiffany’s, Dior, Bulgari, Cartier, Rolex, and the Louis Vuitton flagship store. The enormous monogrammed LV trunk that stands next to the store stopped us in our tracks (it must be 6 or 7 storeys tall). We later learnt that it’s a clever hoarding disguising the construction of the first LV hotel. We strolled past historic shopfronts like Guerlain and Fouquet's with its distinctive red awnings and flags flying. However many of the shops are ones you’d see in any international city or big shopping centre - Zara, Nike, Lululemon, Sephora, even McDonalds. Without a doubt, the highlight of the walk was the Petit Palace (nearer the Place de La Concorde end). The architecture alone is beautiful but it’s worth allowing some time to go inside. Entry to the museum and gallery is free and when we went, there was no queue. NOTE: The official end of Champs Élysées is at Place de la Concorde but if, like us, you are looking to extend the walk, the entrance to the Tuileries Garden is here and is you stroll right through the garden, it will bring you out at the Louvre.

A night walk across the Champs-Élysées is a very special experience. The famous Avenue, which stretches from Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe, is immersed in a fascinating sea of lights after dark. The large, elegant buildings along the street and the majestic trees are gently illuminated, giving the whole environment a warm and almost festive atmosphere. Especially during the Christmas season, when the trees are decorated with fairy lights, the road looks like a magical place. Although the Champs-Élysées is also very busy at night, the Avenue exudes a pleasant elegance. The mix of high-end shops, luxury boutiques and cafes gives the street a special charm. It’s almost a ritual to stroll this way, marvel at the shop windows or take a break in one of the fancy cafes and watch the hustle and bustle. The Arc de Triomphe, which rises at the end of the Avenue, is particularly impressive in the dark as it is brightly lit and easily visible against the dark sky. The view of the Arc de Triomphe, especially when it becomes visible from a distance at dusk, is a highlight of the walk. Despite the many tourists and the crowds, there is a certain peace and quiet on the Champs-Élysées. The slight roar of the passing cars accompanying the gentle glow of the street lamps contributes to a relaxed ambience. The evening walk offers the opportunity to experience Paris from a different perspective – the cool night air, the lights and the sweeping views of the Arc de Triomphe and the surrounding streets make this place one of the most beautiful and impressive in the city. So the Champs-Élysées at night is an experience not to be missed. It offers not only the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent architecture and urban life, but also to be enchanted by the special atmosphere of the city.

Great place to hit the shops, grab something to eat or take some pictures of the Arc de Triomphe. Street artists abound and there are some great singers and musicians to listen to. Plenty of shops from designer down to regular high street brands. Lots of restaurants available and easy to reach via metro or taxi. Worth a wander up and down.

This is the shopping avenue for expensive stuff in Paris. Most shops don't open until 10 or 11 AM so plan accordingly. Worth a visit but most perfumes and luxury brand stuff you find here is also available at duty free on the way out of the country without the hassle of getting a Vat Refund.

The Champs-Élysées, often called the most beautiful avenue in the world, is a must when visiting Paris. It is full of luxury shops, but it is also a place full of history and unique atmosphere. Between the Arc de Triomphe and the Place de la Concorde, this avenue symbolizes Parisian elegance and offers a beautiful walk in the heart of the city.

12 years ago I walked Champs-Elysees from Place de la Concorde to Arc de Triomphe. First bit was a beautiful park and second bit was shops with many walk-in galleries and stuff. This year I walked the other way around and it got slightly worse - it starts with some construction works by the Arc and all galleries were gone, only shops and cafes remained. Visited some and attention you get as a customer varies. Once you reach Grand Palais and the park, you have to cross the road couple times coz of various leftovers (podiums and stages) after Olympic games. It didn’t have the vibe it had those long years ago…

This is a huge shopping district filled with so many of the ritzy, hi-end named stores. The large façade of the YVL store is worth checking out. There are many patisseries and cafés to stop and enjoy treats, tea, coffee, etc. So many tourists here too, and many need to be respectful, rather than typical. Stepping out into the street to get “the perfect pic” and such foolishness. Overall, it’s worth doing and checking out!

At any time of the day, or at night, the walk through this avenue is a joy and a glimpse and an instant portrait of Paris. During the day, the life of Paris in shops of iconic brands (and guys) and at night the glow of a cheerful and untouched life. The time we were there, November, has the glow and colors of the Christmas season. We were lucky to be on the avenue at the opening solemnity of the Christmas parties (end of November) with the lighting and Christmas decoration of the avenue. Espetáculo deslumbrante. On one side of the avenue is the Arc de Triomphe, as iconic as the avenue itself.

At any time of the day a walk through the Champs-Elysees is a joy. This time we prefer to go in the evening to see the Christmas season lighting. Unperishable! We started our tour of the top (Arc de Triomphe) and did not resist to photograph ourselves with the Arc all lit as a background!
