- Steven B6 contributionsMuseum and (some) hands on exhibitsOverall an ok visit. Went with wife and 13 and 9 year old daughters. Some of the models and simulators/exhibits wasn’t working. And some for the 9 year old was over complicated to use (mostly the video screens to control a robot or drone type of object), and some was fairly worn. The planetarium was good and interesting but should be included in admission. Not an extra £3 each for each show. Overall the visit was ok. The girls enjoyed some exhibits and some went over their heads as does some exhibits for most people. The staff were helpful and informative. The cafe was expensive for the food served. Sandwiches was from £4. Amongst the moaning, overall the visit was good and entertaining.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 7 October 2023
- SarahMSolihull, United Kingdom195 contributionsDay out with the grandkids. We took our 3 grandchildren yesterday, we all had a good time. Very disappointing that a lot of the interactions were not working, this was the case almost 8 years ago when we took our eldest granddaughter, come on time to get it all working. We took our own lunch as looking at the offering of the cafe it was very expensive, also the choice seemed very unhealthy. We bought drinks and crisps and that was £22 for 5 of us. There is lots to see, the planetarium was well worth the money also the show in the main theatre. Staff were very helpful and offered my husband a wheelchair as his mobility is not good, we decided on taking taxi as parking was very limited and not close to the venue, hence he did not take is walker. All in all a good few fun hours were spent there.Hi Lastkebab Thank's for visiting and for taking the time to share a review after your visit. As you'll see from some of the other responses on here, we're working through tracking and repairing interactive displays. The team have audited 292 interactive displays and identified nearly 30 (some major and some minor) repairs required. We're also looking on a larger scale at how we replace some of the full galleries, a few of which have served us well for the 25 years since Thinktank opened. The Food and Beverage team are about to overhaul the food menu at Thinktank and this offer will change in the next 4-6 weeks - There is an introduction of a healthier range of mains options. I'm glad you received positive service from our visitor team. The lack of parking we experienced during February is now resolved and if you need info on how to access parking nearby for a future visit our bookings team (hello@birminghammuseums.org.uk will be able to help with this) Kingston Director of Enterprise & InnovationWritten 24 April 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 13 February 2024
- Observer 032720 contributionsBrilliant Day!Excellent day out! So much to see and do, myself and my husband thoroughly enjoyed it never mind our 7 year old!!!! 3 floors and an outside science garden full of history, technology and plenty of interactive things to do, which really suited my 7 year old son that loves to fiddle! Paid extra for the planetarium show, unfortunately not enough seats for us to sit under the dome so we didn’t experience full effect of it although it was insightful and even I learnt something. £15 for an adult and £7 for a child admission was money well spent, lasting all day! I would definitely visit again 🙂Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 18 February 2024
- Norma TDevon, United Kingdom29 contributionsBrilliantThoroughly enjoyed our day at the museum. Very interesting and we were there for 3 hours with one pit stop for a coffee and a bun! It was nice to see children there being shown around as it is an education to see the things on display. If we come to Birmingham again it would definitely be a place I would go back to.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 May 2024
- JenLeicestershire, United Kingdom502 contributionsGreat placeBrought a wowcher for £26 2 adults 2 children, although had to pay extra for planterarium. Visited with my 3 kids aged 15,9, and 7. - LAWBirmingham, United Kingdom26 contributionsGreat fun for all the family.Visited with my daughter and grandchildren for the first time in many years (since my daughter was a child in fact). Still so much to see and do and learn and the children loved the interactive displays (although a couple weren't working unfortunately). The Science Garden outside was brilliant and even though it was busy there was plenty for everyone to take part in. My grandson particularly enjoyed the Planetarium show and both children loved Mini Brum. Special thanks to a member of staff called Lee, who despite being fairly new was extremely helpful when we were trying to find our "old favourites", displays from when my daughter was a child. A great day out, fun and educational too.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 28 August 2024
- KTR57Manchester, United Kingdom69 contributionsJoy, the disappointmentAfter a short but pleasant visit in August, we came again today for a more detailed experience. Sadly, my 9 yr old grandson was heartily disappointed to find the facility CLOSED. They have been selfish to the citizens of Birmingham by working to that city's school hours, and ignoring that of other areas nearby. These don't return to school until midweek, or even next week. How about attracting kids from the world at ALL times, not just when kids, and adults, from the immediate area want to visit? Bye Brum, I might bring him another time, but then again I might NOT.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 2 September 2024
