Hotels near Mount Royal Park

This park is one of Montreal's largest greenspaces and is a great place for admiring a wide variety of flora and fauna. Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the same person behind New York's Central Park, Mount Royal Park boasts miles of trails and superb views of the city. Here, you can stroll down the tree-lined paths and recharge with a picnic on the grass by Beaver Lake. You can also enjoy outdoor activities year-round, such as canoeing in the summer and skiing in the wintertime. There’s a mild climb to reach the viewing area at the top. Alternatively, you can hop on a public bus to reach the peak. – Tripadvisor

Mont Royal should be on your list of places to see.
When we checked in to our hotel we were asked what our plans were whilst in the city. The person on the desk explained several options and Mont Royal was one of them, we were given the information we needed about the metro and the bus required to get there. We are so glad that we were here on a beautiful sunny afternoon, although there were lots of other people. The views over the city, coupled with the autumnal colours are a lasting memory.

    Mt Royal
I walked to Mount Royal from my hotel, Fairmont. It was a nice walk through the city. Once I got to Mount Royal I was impressed with the trails and stairs to reach the cottage. I went in early October and the leaves were starting to change colors. It is a beautiful outdoor space full of trees. The first time I went by myself and I enjoyed it so much I went back with my partner so he too could enjoy it. There is a small lake with benches around it to sit and take it all in.

Probably most beautiful park in Quebec
One of the most beautiful parks I've ever seen. Not surprising since it was designed by the same person who did Central Park in New York City. The fall colors were amazing--brilliant reds and golds, while the grass was still bright green. And don't miss the lake!

    Stunning views
Mount Royal is a stunning park. It is a hill but it is full of beauty. We caught a bus and got here in no time at all. It was so refreshing climbing the steps and walking up to the top. There are many pathways and signage so it is easy to find what you are looking for. There are many areas for a wide range of activities. At the top we got some stunning views of the city which make it really worthwhile. As a matter of interest French navigator Jacques Cartier discovered Canada for France, in 1534. He did this with the help of local Indians. He was so impressed with the stunning beauty of the landscape and the amazing views from the top of the mountain, that he gave it the name Mount Royal. And this is how Montreal got its name!

    Great Walk
Walked up from Drummond Road the long way round, not for the unfit or faint-hearted. Very busy on an overcast weekday with policewomen on horses to look after us. Swept round past the lake and Smith House (where there were no public rest rooms unless you queued for ages to buy an expensive coffee) to the Grand Chalet. Came down the shorter way, via series of steep steps and walkways. A true oasis in a busy city.

A Walk on a White Carpet
If you are visiting this park in winter male sure to wear boots. The entire park is covered by snow and mostly is icey therefore slippery. We went to this place after visiting St. Josef Basilica by riding a bus and has beautiful sceneries. However i believe it is even more beautiful in summer or early fall. Still i considered it a good place since we had alot of time in Montreal to spend. The entire walking may take an hoir or two depending how slow or fast you walk and how many places you wanna visit. But make sure you go to the terrace where you will se the entire Montreal City.

    Winter activities and fun !!
Drive around til you find the ice skating rink. There is a toboggan run nearby and cross country skiing . There is a pavilion with a cafe upstairs (with the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had) and equipment rental downstairs. We just watched but it all looked so fun! The ice rink had Xmas trees with lights in the middle and nice music on the speakers .

The conditions were perfect for a leisurely stroll around Mount Royal
We enjoyed a relaxed walk around the charming lake, offering breathtaking views of the autumn trees reflected in its waters, perfect for capturing in photos. Our exploration eventually took us to the cross, which, although slightly underwhelming up close, didn't detract from the overall experience. We observed the trails were well-kept, and ongoing efforts to enhance and preserve the facilities were evident, contributing to a thoroughly enjoyable outing.

Hard climb but so worth it
Walked up from Mont Royal station to join the Grand Staircase halfway up which took about 40/45 minutes to the chalet. Views are definitely worth the climb. Quick coffee then down 549 stairs to top of Peel Street. Really recommended.

    Beautiful Park and Views
Views of Montreal are more than stunning from the Kondiaronk Belvedre. The park is very well-kept and clean. The Chalet at the top serves reasonably priced coffee and snacks. If you go from Rue Peel steps, you have to climb 339 steps to the top. If you don't want to, there is a accessible route from the Smith house parking lot.
