We visited the Biodome on Tue 4/30/2024. This was our planned stop because it was raining on our entire trip to Montreal. After the many detours due to road construction we found the underground parking ($25 CND). Many busloads of school children were there on field trips. This site also has separate extensive garden & grounds and a sports arena. Don't confuse this site with the Biosphere across the street. Five unique ecosystems are presented show casing native flora & fauna. a good. leisurely walk through the climate zones. Lots of photo opportunities. Open every day 9:00am-6:00pm. Planetarium (separate fee) open every day with shows every 1/2 hour beginning at 10:45am week days, 9:00 on weekend days, online reservations only. There is a cafe (Canadian currency only or credit card) and a gift shop. Ticket prices vary so check the website. Great for families and all others. Great rainy day activity at a unique site. We visited the Biodome at Olympic Park for a couple of hours before heading to the airport to catch our flight. It was a hot day so being indoors was a key reason we chose to go there. The zoo was split into different sections for different regions. These exhibits generally had smaller, tamer animals rather than large fauna. We still enjoyed it. In particular, we liked the arctic area with the penguins and puffins. The cafe had really good coffee with a number of good options. They did serve it in a mug instead of to-go cup so factor that in when ordering anything here.

While visiting Montreal, my wife and I explored the BioDome. The BioDome is located on the site of the 1976 Montreal World's Fair. The building and grounds have been redone and house exhibits that replicate the four ecosystems of the Americas. The mammals, reptiles and birds of the tropical rain forest, sub polar region, North American wilderness and the marine eco-system. The animals are free moving through the exhibits. This is an excellent exhibit to visit when in Montreal.

The Biodome comprises 4 distinct sections each representing a different habitat. These included the rainforest, ocean, desert, and Laurentian maple forest regions. They are not particularly big so the whole site is fairly compact. There are lots of colourful birds, aquatic wildlife (including penguins), mammals, sea creatures and so forth. Each section sought to replicate the natural environment of these creatures. So, for example, it was very hot and humid in the section containing the parrots and it was very icy in the section containing the penguins. A visit probably takes around 1 to 2 hours because the attractions are not very spread out. The Biodome is next door to the Botanic Gardens so a visit could be combined with that attraction to make a day of it.

The biodome is very nice, even if some spaces are a little small ultimately for the tourist crowd. The polar area with penguins seems a little cramped for animals. The price is not too high for Montreal and all around the biodome there are picnic areas and food stalls.

I enjoyed seeing the animals and fish especially the otters playing around with each other. I also appreciate that the animals are separated into their proper environment. An Arctic section, Rainforest Section and a temperate section. The rainforest and arctic were okay but I’m still wondering what exactly was in the temperate section on the third floor. I bumped into a couple as I was walking through the third floor and none of us understood what we were looking for other than a different vantage point. Truthfully, I don’t feel the small exhibit was worth the price though.

First let me say that I walk with a cane and there was do much walking that I needed a wheel chair. My girlfriend had to push so that really dampered the stop for her. My son in law had to park.quite a distance away. The majority of my group seemed to enjoy the animal displays in various ecosystems. This is really for younger kids and adult naturists. We wanted to go to the planetarium at added cost, but we would have to wait an hour for the next show Instead we ate some mediocre food at an outdoor food court. What else can I add, a tourist trap

My family and I recently went and we had a lovely time. We got a chance to see lots of animals in all the different areas. It was very crowded due to summer camps, but that didn't deter us from having a good time. We were still able to walk around and see everything. It took us about 3 hours to go through all the exhibits. There is an eating area where you can eat your own food or you can buy food at the restaurant.

We purchased tickets that gave us entrance to three main habitats: tropical forest, temperate forest, and cold climate. While I am not a fan of zoos, the way they have this laid out is very realistic. The plants and animals interact as in their natural environment. For anyone who lives in an urban setting, this can connect you to the natural environment. There are also aquatic animals that you can see swimming and feeding. There are birds, monkeys, turtles, frogs, and crocodiles to name a few. Plan for at least 2 to 3 hours. Great trip for kids.
