Packed with families, couples and others one beautiful evening, it feels very safe and fun to explore. Love the streets, dining options and festive feel. We walked about 7 blocks after dark and it felt completely safe.

Montreal Old Town is the oldest part of the city overlooking the banks of the Saint Lawrence River. Not very large and which develops more in length than in breadth and has buildings dating from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Of particular beauty is the Basilica of Notre Dame, the City Hall and the Ramezay Castle with its splendid garden By now the historic streets are full of local and negotiable, mostly souvenirs. It is very pleasant to walk along Rue St. Paul or stop at Place Jacques-Cartier, and drive along the old port.

Place full of history, pleasant to walk notably in the street Saint Paul, many restaurants and shops but also emblematic places of the city with the port in particular. The Bon Secours church and the Bon Secours halls. I suggest starting the city tour with this neighborhood before pushing towards the skyscrapers and outside the city.

This is the lovely, historic heart of Montréal. It is a bit crowded and touristy, with souvenir shops and an observation wheel, but the architecture is amazing, and it's home to some of the city's iconic attractions. Definitely a must-visit area.

The attachment shows an interesting painting hanging where my tour spent significant time. Likely included in the Industrial Revolution in Canada, The Nordheimer Brothers must have been a part of the equation. They emerged from the piano importing business in Canada to have a building named for them and the attached painting hanging on the wall. Having a predictable appreciation for the piano helps explain my fascination with the attached painting.

I will tell you about my visit to Montreal that I made in June 2024 with my family (my mother) . Montreal is a cosmopolitan city par excellence and above all what really struck me was its dual identity both international and North American because the old neighborhood of the latter (which I saw after a quick drive) because everything was closed to leave space to Sunday cyclists and the public The old neighborhood is the address of all restaurants ( Chinese , Lebanese and many others ) believe me it is worth the detour and festival question you will be served since there are BCP musical concerts for all ages and genres so in Montreal everyone finds his own. Let yourself be tempted

Old Montreal is certainly the highlight of the city. So many places to stop and eat, great for people watching and very historic. The cobblestone streets are lovely. However, there was a great deal of construction and for such a liberal minded city I don’t understand why they don’t help more of their homeless population. Old Montreal is definitely an experience not to miss if you’re in Montreal.

Old Montreal is beautiful, and an absolute must for visitors. We wandered the beautiful stone streets and admired the architecture. There are a number of quaint shops and eateries available, and we stopped for a delicious cheesy crepe (that was served with crisp fresh salad) before exploring Marche Bonecours (a lovely market featuring hand made jewellery and items). Although it was cold when we visited (0 degrees), there are any number of warn cosy cafe to stop in for refreshment. It was a beautiful walk and lovely experience.

Thom quickly made a group of strangers from around the world. He seemed very knowledgeable about the history of Montréal, encouraged and responded to questions, and made a complex story eminently digestible. This tour was a highlight of our week in Montréal. I would highly recommend.

It snowed when we were there in March which gave Old Montreal a cosy wonderland feeling. A local said it does not snow as much as people think in Montreal so enjoy it while it lasts. There are loads of cafe / restaurants here and the Basilica. For me wandering around the streets in the snow and then warming up in a French style café was the best.
