Heavenly park to enjoy if you have the luxury of visiting during cherry blossom season
This is definitely one of my favorite trips! We were lucky to visit Osaka during cherry blossom season, and got to understand why Japanese people are so enthusiastic about cherry blossoms. The mood was warm, serene and heavenly. Japan websites have a cherry blossom weather forecast so plan your trip ahead.

Beautiful park surrounding the Osaka Castle!
The Osaka Castle Park is a 100+ hectare sprawling park surrounding the Osaka Castle. It includes gardens, the moats, bridges, and area around the castle. During cherry blossom time, it is spectacular!

Walked through here to visit the Osaka Castle
After getting off the Metro/Subway, I walked through the Park to enter the castle. Tnere are several areas of the Park where one can take photos of the castle, the moat, and the water. There are benches in the park where one can sit down and rest for a short time. Also noted are some public restrooms and Lawson Snack Store.

    Going back in time
If history and architecture are your thing, visiting Osaka castle is a must. The castle towers above the rest of the buildings surrounding it. There is a "train" if you don't feel like walking, but if you walk, you will see much more. You have quite a walk best not to take young kids along. You will spend most of the day if you want to explore it all. I highly recommend visiting Osaka castle

I think the cherry blossoms here are the best in the Osaka area.
I visit Osaka Castle Park almost every year to see the plum, peach and cherry blossoms. I've been to almost all the famous cherry blossom spots around Osaka, but the cherry blossoms here at Osaka Castle Park are the best. There are a lot of cherry trees, and the view of the castle tower is spectacular.

    Almost a forest
Japan is so full of extraordinary parks and gardens that it can be difficult to get excited about this expanse of greenery interspersed with benches, small stone statues and two temples. But if you manage to understand it in its entirety - even with a piecemeal reconstruction, side by side - observing it from the terrace on the top floor of the castle you realize that you are faced with something that looks a lot like a small forest, made of a great variety of trees, each more beautiful than the other. However, be careful not to get lost in this immense space and not to make the wrong exit: it would be a great additional effort!

    Good vantage
Must visit to know history a little closer. The park itself was unkempt but gives good views. Also not many people recommend going inside the castle and hence park offers good vantage.

To do if you do not visit a real "major" castle (Himeji, Kumamoto, even Matsumoto)...
... in this case you will become aware of the architecture of the Japanese fortifications and the scale of Osaka Castle. Too many lines to visit the castle but the park delighted us. However, in the humid heat of summer in Osaka the visit is trying.

    Beautiful, and free
Huge park (about 1 km per side) with lots of paths for walking. The castle itself is the star, of course, but I particularly enjoyed the walks alongside the moats. I was here twice, for about two or three hours each time, and could have spent more time. The view of the castle from the Japanese garden is particularly good, and the Japanes garden, while small, is beautiful. Even if you don't go into the castle (which is extra cost), it's worth walking around it, to get an appreciation for its architectural detail and its size. There are a few places to buy food and drink on the periphery of the park, as well as a few food stalls scattered throughout the park.

Don't do it in the hot hours it's a park but the sun beats down a lot! Worth 2 hours max
Hot, hot and hot! Worth for a ride but absolutely in the afternoon!! (Watch the times with otherwise I would have done 17/19 to enjoy a walk. Bring water and take the train (better) with a few euros turn it around in 20 minutes without getting tired.
