We loved our stay here! If you want to hike on your own the trails start right from the lodge and they provide maps. if you want to either hike or drive the Sani Pass to Lesotho they have tours. We took the NUD transport to and from Durban- it also connects with the Baz Bus. The restaurant had excellent...

We have just returned from an amazing 7 day trip around Lesotho. Matthew, from Sani Lodge was our guide he was an amazing driver and his attention to detail was outstanding. We interacted with many locals on an impromptu basis, which was the real highlight of the trip - visiting 2 schools, families along the way, shops and bars in...

We absolutely loved our 5 night stay here. We moved rooms a couple of times due to other bookings, so we experienced two of the rondavels and the standard room. The rondavels in particular were excellent, with the heaters very useful in the evenings. The whole environmental and social ethos of Sani Lodge is extremely impressive and right up our...

We were planing to camp here while on a motorcycle road trip. On our way we got some heavy rain and was soaking wet when we arrived. We decided to upgrade to the only open room. It was a small room with 2 bunk beds. We were all glad there was a heater in the room. The showers closest to...

Thanks for your outline of your stay with us and we are glad that we could accommodate you indoors. Spring has delivered much needed rains yet with surprisingly low temperatures but we provide heating in all of the rooms, even dormitories, so that everyone feels comfortably warm in the bedrooms as well as in the common room and restaurant. The...

Sani Lodge Backpackers is a great place to visit. The road getting there is part of making this place really spacial. We came in from Pietermaritzburg side and went out towards Kokstad. This is a really spacial place to visit and recharge. Be sure not to only spend 1 night there. Enjoy

We stayed at sani lodge for a few days as a base for trips to the Sani Pass and Dragensberg! The lodge has a nice character of a traditional farm by the mountains and the common spaces are warm and cosy. But most importantly, the lodge organizes excellent tours to sani pass and hikes to Dragensberg. We did an overnight...

I stayed at Sani Lodge to visit the Sani Pass, as most of the guests do. The place is beautiful, full of green areas and surrounded by the Drakensberg Mountains. They have a great cafe/restaurant, where they sell home made jam, cheese, yogurt, ice cream, and also art crafts from the area. There's a swimming pool, and a cosy common...

I stayed at the lodge for 4 nights and loved every minute of it. It offered me the experience I wanted - close to several trails as well as the Sani Pass, numerous tours in Lesotho, amazing views from the lodge and accommodation and food for a cheap price. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the tours offered...

We had a very positive experience here. The staff was very helpfull when we were planning our adventures in the Drakensberg area and Lesotho. The owner has very good local knowledge of walking routes, the local wildlife and the local culture. Actually there is nothing special about this Lodge, but it's clean, it's friendly and quiet. WE stayed at the Guineafowl Room and although it was the middle of winter, extra blankets and all those heaters kept us warm. They also offer the Sani Pass Tour, which was well organised.
