This lodge is expensive but we left feeling it was worth every penny. We were picked up early in the morning in San Jose in a Landcruiser for the 2.5hr drive. We stopped for a traditional Costa Rican breakfast before the drive down to the Pacuare River for the 90 minutes rafting to the Lodge. The rafting to the Lodge... More

Most reviews of Pacuare Lodge I have read focus on the lodge, food, staff, location, etc. All that was fantastic. I agree wholeheartedly. However, what made this an exceptional trip for me was the rafting on the last day and the activities. I have been whitewater rafting and kayaking on many rivers in the western US. The class IV whitewater... More

Simply put, this is the best hotel / guest house I have ever stayed at. We took the honeymoon suite, with its own pool, bridge and observation deck, outdoor shower and double hammock overlooking the dense rainforest - all with a sense of seclusion even from other guests. Meals are included and are all high-end restaurant quality, which is remarkable... More

this place is extraordinary. in the heart of the rainforest on the banks of the Pacuare River - you reach this lodge by white water raft. There are plenty of fun activities to do in this amazing place - where you sleep to the sounds of the jungle. Private pools and terraces in the villas , candle light and no... More

This is one of the most thrilling eco lodges in Costa Rica. It is genuinely remote, and can only be reached by raft. How they manage to cook such brilliant meals I'll never know. The sense of being at one with nature is intense - electricity is only available for four hours a day. That said its amazingly comfortable and... More

We spent four days and three nights at the lodge, staying in the Jaguar Villa. The facilities are top notch, the staff and guides excellent and the food is delicious. We took the rafts in and out and were very comfortable with our river guides skills and knowledge of the river. The zip line canopy tour is fun and well... More

Or if you are lucky, more than once! This is a really spectacular property with a staff that is unsurpassed: macho river and jungle guides that morph into suave and sophisticated waiters! We hiked to waterfalls and a Cabecar (indigenous) village. Met interesting and fun fellow travelers. White watered in and out. (you are in good hands with expert guides... More

I had to pinch myself and touch the plants as it felt like this place was not real. This was a super adventure and it felt like a dream!!! This is glamping at the highest levels. The food and staff were wonderful and we were treated like rock stars! They make each person feel important and individualize the experience. It... More

What an awesome couple of nights we spent here! We arrived by 4x4 which was bumpy, fun and not too long. Got the hand operated cable car across the river and Wow! We were here! We stayed in a couple of river view rooms. Right on the river which you could hear romantically roaring right past your lodge. Lovely lodges.... More

White water rafting into this hotel is the ultimate cure for jetlag. Brilliant for adventurous families. You will get totally wet, but your bags will be OK inside dry-bags. Sports holdalls are ideal, dolly trolleys should just about fit. The rooms are lovely. High chance of being woken by Howler Monkeys in the nearby woods at 0500, very exciting. Wonderful... More
