Good for family. Room is spacious and clean. Bathroom is also good. Hotel atmosphere is super and staff is very friendly. The views from the hotel is superb. Roads to hotel from main road is not good but you can drive your car there. When we were there the television in the room is not working,we complaint but not resolved. Climate is super in the night but not good enough for daytime. The hotel located in Chinnakkanal, that is 20km long from Munnar. The road from Munnar to Chinnakkanal is under construction ,you need to divert other route to reach the hotel.

The varkis munnar resort is especially a serviced villa and too comfort for the group and they arrange many activities and it is included in the 2days package. The live stream flowing inside the resort gives you positive energy and you woke up with the birds song at early morning.
The fishing camp at anayirangal dam and view from the tree house is marvelous.the four wheel drive to kulukumalai is worth for photographers and family. the restaurent at varkis is excellent and real kerala nadan homely food wiil take you to the top. enjoy the bon-fire at night with music and mist.

It was an amazing experience to stay in Bethel Varkis. The view of nature is so unique. Quite place .Tasty food is available. Service if of top class. Very polite staff and management. We required a medicine for breathing problem at 10 pm. The manager himself bought the medicine from a medical shop which was already closed. We are really thankful to that. The wood house is really unique. Hot water , wifi are available..Its infact a true delight...Value for the money. Highly recomended

We booked online trusting the rating, the rooms and property definitely not 3 star nor as claimed in the reviews. Room we were given (stone/rock suite) had the cheapest interiors & were not provided woollen blankets. At best this hotel must be listed as budget hotel, not a 3 star property. Having said that, Chinnakanal area have Homestay's better than this.

I came here with my friends in search of a memorable holiday. Our stay here was purely accidental. We were looking forward for a pleasant stay at chinnakanal(near munar) and visited several hotels and star graded resorts there. Finally we landed at Varkis from nowhere after our lunch at a nearby restaurant and ended up booking our stay for 1 night. I must now admit that our decision to stay at Varkis has indeed paid off without any doubt.

PROS
1.Reasonable price
2.Very warm hospitality (from the cook to the proprietor)
3.Picturesque brand new campus comprising a flowing water stream.
4.Quality food. (though we had only breakfast. )

CONS
Not much to say under this header. But just wished the housekeeping could have been slightly better. Munar is almost 30 minutes from chinnakanal.

To sum it up, i strongly recommend this place if you are one of those looking for a budget stay yet with good ambience and food in chinnakanal.

I would like to highlight a few things here, firstly its sure no where near a 3 star hotel. Its a very small hotel with not much area around it. There are 3 suites in the hotel and we were upgraded after every 2 days, so I can give a proper review all all of them.

The Rock Suite is the cheapest one and its so poorly built that you wont be able to stay in it and even the bathroom was very untidy. The mid range Stone Suite was also not up to the mark and the Wooden Suite was a bit better. But over all what I have seen is there is no Phone/intercom in any rooms so for even small things you have to walk towards the reception which is not very good. Wifi is free but there is hardly any range of it in the rooms, you have to come near the reception again to use it sitting in the cold.

What I found in all rooms was that there were many fixtures which were not working and were broken, TV's are small like monitors. Some rooms have Mirrors and some doesn't. Furniture seems of very cheap quality. Some bed had side table some didn't. Wash Basin doesn't have water mixer so you have to wash your face hands with chilly cold water. Overall to what I can say is that the rooms lack a lot of basic things.

The food was good (not excellent) but they have a very small menu in which we cant get all the things. One day we were relaxing in our room and though of having Lunch, but they told us that they don't serve lunch (really?) so I had to go down a creepy slope to get some food and climb back. Also when we told them to get our dinner into the room, they were asking us to sit in the restaurant area for dinner as their rooms might get dirty. After few chats they did serve us in our rooms though.

Response from varkismunnar, Manager at Bethel Varkis
Responded 6 Jan 2016
Dear Guest, Thanx for the review. We Have an explanation to update to all your queries. 1. We never claimed our property a 3 star one. Its exclusive a HOMESTAY. 2. The sizes of the rooms are approved by KERALA TOURISM BOARD and all legal bodies. It is daily cleaned and disinfected. If you had deposited the keys in the reception the rooms and bathrooms would be cleaned, which had been soiled by your usage. 3. We have not installed intercom in any rooms, but we provide mobile number of the reception for any assistance of the guest. 4. As OPTICAL FIBRE CABLE laying by BSNL is in process, so the connectivity & speed is less. The actual speed will be restored in short time. 5. Our maintenance dept. constantly monitors all of the maintenence work, and as per my findings after this review that the claim which you have made of fixtures not working is false, which cannot be appreciated. 6. We have 22" LED TELEVISIONS. I think this size is enough. You must have been habitual of watching 44" or 48" televisions, Which you shouldn't expect everywhere. 7.From your view the furnitures were of cheap quality, But its not. Its Made by DURAIN FURNITURES, Mumbai. 8.Every rooms has side tables and Mirrors. 9.Its a homestay, and as per my knowledge only 5 star properties provide water mixers in wash basins. Not even 3 star hotels in Munnar. 10.All the basic requirements are fullfilled and affixed in the rooms, Otherwise KERALA TOURISM BOARD would never provide us with a license to operate it. 11. Our Food is best in the Industry, But you were looking for very budjeted food. Lunch is not provided on a regular basis, But if you place a order before 1'0 Clock, it would be served. Normally no guest is in the property in the afternoon hours, as they go for sight seeing, Hence lunch is not served on regular basis. BUT YOU NEVER SKIPPED THE COMPLIMENTRY BREAKFAST. 12.You had soiled the bedsheets with some curries, Hence we were not serving dinner in your room, still we served you. Still looking forward to serve you in future. Regards

Simply a art of work !!!
PROS-
-Wooden Homes
-Sweet sound of footsteps on Timber
-Nice cozy bed
- Beautiful architecture
& Breathtaking Atmosphere around.
What else is needed.. A Must to be in ,if in munnar ,out of the noisy munnar town !
-Stayed in "Wooden Suite" with my family.. In room 103. Awesome view ! Feels like staying in a nice tree house.
- Very Humble staff and caring owner.
-Exactly 35 mins from munnar town if clear road.

CONS-
- Service a little shaky but no worries, the humble staff n considerate n caring owner compensates for it.
- Food options limited ,but the food creates magic with your palate.
- Approach road is dark n alone at night, but it can be easily improved. And few big resorts near by give you a royal feel ,plus is very much safe .
- Tea plantation is not around ,but pleasant n chirpy mornings with a stout mountain in backdrop gives u immense pleasure n is beautiful.
SPECIAL MENTION-- Mr JERIN( Nephew of the owner) was very helpful, cooperative n takes good care of the guests.
THANK YOU.

Highly recommended if you are looking for a place to forget time, chillout and relax.

Host is friendly and helpful with whatever you might need.

They provide traditional Kerala style food for a fairly cheap prices. You might also wanna try some of that local palm wine (alcoholic).

All-in-all it was a great pleasure staying there for four nights.

I guess not. This is a bread and breakfast place and not exactly a hotel. You might still want to call and check with them.
