We were travelling around the area and came across The Red Lion around lunchtime so decided to stop. Great welcome for us and our dog. We ate the ribs and a burger (no bun) and we both agreed it was one of the best meals we have had in a long time. I have no idea how the chef cooks...

Stayed for two nights, Friday to Sunday. It was a loud pub that didn't close until 2.30am, even though their website said 12pm. Had a darts championship on Friday night so was extra loud, especially in room 4, which is above the smoking area. Beer barrels were being scrapped across the forecourt at 12pm and 8am both mornings. Room was...

I am really sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us. It was unfortunate that your stay coincided with the end of year darts championship. We take your point on board and we will make every effort to notify guests of any functions at the time of booking, or shortly after the event is known. Being an old...

Lovely room above a very nice pub, dinner in the evening was very nice and the breakfast was very nice too ( and plentiful ) The surrounding area has some beautiful views and there are some great walks if that's your thing.

Just back from a one night stay at this Rural Gastro Pub with our children. From the minute we arrived to when we left the staff we're friendly and helpful, but not over bearing. We were shown to our room which was huge considering there was four of us sleeping in it, it was far enough away from the bar...

Have a look at previous low star reviews and you will find something similar to our experience: we stayed here to attend a wedding. Room 3, it turns out, is above the bar's speakers and adjacent to the function room. We had bass vibrating through the bed and walls until 2.30am on the Friday and until midnight on the Saturday....

We are always keen to maintain a high standard of customer service and investigate areas where we may need to make improvements. On this occasion, we have no booking on our system, in October 2016, that matches the booking described in your review. Please confirm the dates that you stayed with us, and the name under which the booking was...

What's not to like - lovely modern fitted room, comfy and large bed, good pub food - particularly the pizzas, very dog friendly, and with very friendly and helpful staff. Beer was good and wine well priced. Breakfast was great too. Location is ideal - centre of a very pretty village/small town. Pub noise from downstairs was just background in...

Clean and pleasant room. It would have been useful information to know accommodation booked was in an annex, a short walk from the Red Lion. Staff very friendly. Large ensuite with ample supply of towels. A nice selection of biscuits on tray with tea and coffee. Spectacular view over the North Devon countryside.

family joined us mid week whilst staying in the area, we had a really nice lunch at The Red Lion, service good with friendly staff, just a bit disappointed with outside seating area, as it was a nice day we wanted to be outside...but despite that we did enjoy our meal & would return.

We stayed at the Red Lion from Friday - Sunday to attend a friend's wedding on the Saturday and were extremely disappointed, particularly having enjoyed going to the restaurant last time we visited. We understand that this is a pub and that it has loud music, however, it is absolutely outrageous to charge £90 for a room directly above the...

We are sorry to hear that you were not able to enjoy your stay at the Red Lion. We are a bar/restaurant situated at the centre of a thriving community, and on occasion, customers enjoy the lively ambience associated with a busy bar, particularly at the weekends. It was unusual that there was a party on Friday evening, and live...

Stayed one night here as a stop off , very remote lovely village , it's a pub hotel and we were given a room at their sister pub down the road which the pub part has closed down and just rooms remaining, can't fault the room at all , spacious , comfy bed , luxury bathroom and in the morning...
