The place was lovely and the staff were friendly. You can eat pasta dishes and sandwiches any time at the bar, as well as get good coffee and drinks. The pool was very clean and there were enough lounge chairs for all the guests who chose to stay in the pool. We prefer the ocean. Our 2-floor apartment was very clean, with a view of the sea, plenty of room with a good stove and refrigerator. The bathrooms had a bidet, which I love. The terrace has a table where we ate in the evenings, where there was a nice breeze. The second bedroom did not have a tv but we received one the next morning with no fuss. Access to the beach is a 3 minute walk away. A colmada (where you can buy drinks, chips, ham, cheese, bread, alcohol, etc) is about a 10 minute walk away but will deliver your groceries to you so you do not have to carry them back. If you ask for their phone number, they will deliver if you call as well. It helps if you speak Spanish but these days with translation apps available for any phone, the few words you need should not be a problem.
There is 24-hour security and, on the upper floors, a few locked gates to pass through, so the place is safe.

We spent most of the days at Neptunos restaurant, which has access to the beach, and is more private than the public beach and, in my opinion, safer. For the price of drinks and lunch, you can dive or climb off the dock, have lounge chairs, and know your belongings are safe. There a couple of other restaurants which are more affordable, where the beach can be accessed as well. It was my husband's birthday so we did not mind splurging on Neptunos but other options are available, including the public beach, which is about a 10 minute walk away.

Check-in and check-out times are flexible if you let the manager, Graziano, know in advance. I suggest a phone call if you speak Italian or Spanish, or request late check in when you are booking the room. I always confirm my online reservations with a phone call about a week in advance, especially ones such as this which are not paid up front.

Las Palmeras is a very nice place to stay. The two bedroom Penthouse was my choice and while the fixtures may need to be updated the place serves its purpose. I don't stay in the room much while on vacation but they will provide everything you need. The staff is great and you will meet many new people while lounging at the pool and bar area. It is near town and the casino but remains secure and is very peaceful and quiet. If you rent the Penthouse be wary of the stairs leading to your apartment. There is no elevator and it is quite a hike but worth it if you ask me. The only suggestion I made to the staff regarding the rooms were to supply more towels and pillows for the bedrooms. Other than that it was great. The manager and workers at LP are good people and do their best to take care of the guests.

The staff at Residencial las Palmeras were great. Emily was always there when ever we needed something or had a question. The Penthouse that we had overlooking the ocean was amazing. I recommend anyone that is going to visit Boca Chica that they stay at this resort. Will definitely make reservations again here.

Excellent, beautiful and well maintained grounds, very attentive and friendly staff, extra clean rooms, and very tasty restaurant choices. Willy and Emely are both resort purveyors of the highest level. The only place I will stay when in the RD.

We had book in this hotel through booking.com (following the link on trip advisor).
For us, It was supposed to be a place to take a short break before starting a round trip across the country.

We booked on 31/12/2013 for a stay between 06/20 ans 10/02. Reservation confirmed.
We arrived in Santo domingo as schedulded, took a taxi from airport.... but upon arrival in the hotel we were told that everything was full and there was no room for us.
The Italian owner first pretended that we had no confirmed booking. When we produced the written confirmation for booking he explained us that he had overbooked the hotel.... and that is unfortunate and that ... well you imagine ... we just feel like in Napoli

We ended up in another place... not exactly the type we expected.

After controlling on the booking website, las palmeras was still proposed as available for booking on the same period....

Conclusion....
1) a dishonnest guy.... to avoid
2) Booking.com cannot be trusted. Why to use their service if they cannot warrant that a confirmed reservation is valid?

Anyway... go somewhere else

This was my second stay in this property. The first wasn't that great either but decided to give another opportunity because the location is good. I booked my reservation 2 months in advance on Booking.com. Less than 12 hours before my flight I received a call from the owner/manager telling me the property had no rooms available. My argument that I had a confirmed booking fell on deaf ears. Needless to say, traveling to a foreign country without a hotel room was very stressful.
So, travelers beware! My first trip there I booked one room and was given a different one for more money.

When we learned our flight was delayed we emailed the hotel. We had booked a shuttle through the hotel from the airport but it was no where to be found. We took a taxi to the hotel and it cost $10 less. Check-in was by Willy in small office in the back of a garage, there was no front desk. Willy was also supposed to be the shuttle driver. He kept looking at his computer and then said "Oh, I thought you were not coming." There were no rooms we could stay in for the entire 5 days. He proposed we stay in a villa for the first day and we agreed. When we arrived at the villa it had no electricity. Willy called his electrician and said he would be by to turn it on. He explained how it takes so long to get a meter in Boca Chica they use a jumper in the meantime. We asked for another room. He offered us 3 bedroom on the fifth floor. We have stayed in hotels in Europe which were centuries old but this is a modern resort and there is no excuse for not having an elevator. The room showed signs of age. The picture on Booking.com for the hotel shows an outdoor shower with a rusty fixture, well. the entire hotel is like that. Latches on the windows and doors did not work. Water from the kitchen sink was rusty. After one night we moved elsewhere.

I stayed at Residencial Las Palmeras for about 4 days during the Super Bowl weekend (2017). I got room A101 which is actually an apartment style room. It has 2 (two) bedrooms a small living room and a kitchen area.

The positives:
The room (apartment) was quite spacious and had a decent location. Overall the hotel grounds are very quiet and well maintained. The bathroom is a nice size but the shower in this particular apartment is somewhat narrow. The water was warm and the water pressure was great. There was also a working refrigerator and a small TV with cable. The kitchen has plates, cups, utensils & dishes. There are two air conditioners and they both worked quite well. There is also a ceiling fan in both of the bedrooms but the smaller bedroom (which opens into the small balcony) does NOT have an air conditioner. It only has a ceiling fan.

The negatives:
The wifi, in this apartment, was not working too well. I would have to go outside or stand right by the bedroom window in order to get decent wifi reception. The TV is rather small, hard to turn on and off and the cable channels are far and few in-between. While there is a kitchen, they provided no dish detergent or a sponge. So if you use any of the utensils you will have to rinse them out in the bathroom sink. The bed had a very thin blanket but fortunately it worked quite well for me. When I was there they only had one room key so they were unable to clean my room for the first two days (hopefully this will be resolved in the near future).

Overall this is a decent place to stay at. Security is very good and the staff is pretty good. Had breakfast by the pool bar one day and the food was made fresh (mangu with salami and a fruit shake). There is a pool and it looked pretty well maintained and there were pool chairs readily available. The hotel is a short distance from the beach but far enough where you get some peace and quiet.

If you’re looking for a decent, budget type hotel, this is a good hotel. On the flip side, my friend also booked a room for the same stay and he got a standard hotel room. So I’m not sure if I got the bigger apartment style room because there were no more standard rooms available.

These are actually apartments equipped with everything. I think most of them have balconies. My favorite is the three bedroom penthouse it consists of two floors every room has its own bathroom with balcony a living room and a fully equipped kitchen . I love this place it's my home away from home. I hope this helps you.
