We would like to recommend that place. If you want to have rest and to enjoy the nature, peace, water and sun it is your place. The island is very small, silent and you can't see the other guests during the day. We were on beach villa N3, perfect location. We stayed there for 7 nights, the villa was clean and cozy, the air-conditioning was perfect. The reef was so crowded with creatures, we saw and dolphins and every day some sharks. About the food, we were on HB and is was enough, delicious and diverse. For dinner we have thematic dishes and all so tasty. We have ordered extra payed dinner with lobster, so nice! But, really that place is for people who want real break. The stuff was kind and responsive. The weather in the begining of April was awesome, water too. We liked the charm of that place.

We stayed at the Drift Thelu Veliga Resort from 23 to 30 of May and we really had a good time here. The stunning colours of the ocean, the white beach and an absolute peace thanks to the little dimension of the island, make this place a real paradise. Everything was perfect, the breathtaking view, the marine environment and the accomodation. We stayed in a beach villa, so we could enjoy the privacy of the beach in front of our room, but it is also possible to relax on the sunbed on the other side of the island where we had very nice snorkeling near the main jetty. We highly recommend the scuba diving experience, the instructors were prepared and friendly and made us feel at ease. We went for turtles trip and we could see both them and a stunning aquatic life. We also went for mantas trip with water sport and it was a great experience, we managed to swim just side by side with them and the guide tried to reach the best place to make sure we had the best experience. There's also a spa which offers a lot of treatments and we tried the Balinese massage that turns out to be very relaxing. All the staff was kind and helpful, and our room was always clean and tidy. We want to make a special thanks to the F&B department because they were extremely attentive to our needs and helpful. We tasted very good cocktails with fresh fruits and a wonderful view at the bar and we ate very well at the restaurant where there's a big choice both for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The waiters were very kind and the chef made us taste international food but also Italian and Maldivian specialities. Everything was well served and we liked everything, especially dishes based on fish and seafood that were really tasty. Thank you all and see you soon!! A&G

Perfect Paradise I‘ve spend one week at Drift Thelu Veliga Retreat and I honestly have to say: everything was perfect! It all started when I arrived with the water airplane and was warmly welcomed by Zain and the other receptionists. They showed me around on the very small and unbelievable beautiful island and gave me all the information I needed. The island is round about 1 kilometer long and broad and has beautiful white sand, palm trees and a very green jungle in the middle which gives you shade. As you can see in my pictures it is just breathtaking beautiful! There are only 30 houses for guests what makes it a very family like environment because you always meet the same people. I really enjoyed this special kind of vibe! I stayed in one of the water villas, which are simply breathtaking beautiful! Very modern and clean. I really liked the furniture because everything was made out of wood so very natural what I really liked! I booked breakfast and dinner which is served as a buffet in the open air restaurant. I really liked the restaurant and the bar because it is directly on the beach so you have an amazing view at the ocean while eating and drinking. Also you can see the sunset from the bar which I really enjoyed! The food is just great! The chefs Monir, Wasana und the Salad-Chef create mouthwatering dishes and it changes every day. The Service was simply amazing! The waiters Zayne, Shaam and the others are really doing their job by heart. They fulfill every single wish and make all their guest very happy! Thank you for that guys! You are doing a great job! During the day you have many possibilities what you can do on the island: swimming, snorkelling, diving, boot trips, SPA or just having a drink at the bar. There is also a little shop which sells beautiful self painted pictures and other great things. The reception is always very helpful and friendly. Especially Maria is an amazing young lady that really cares if you are happy and makes everything she can do to fulfill all the wishes of her guests! Thank you very much! I really appreciate that! All in all I honestly can’t find anything I did not like about the Drift Retreat! For me it was the most amazing vacation I’ve ever experienced and I am VERY thankful for that. Just take a look at the pictures I attached to this recommendation because they say more than words and will convince you how stunning the Drift Resort is! I am very looking foreword to come back, Your friend Nadine

What an amazing experience! We were looking for a place to relax and just unwind for a little bit from all the madness and we couldn't have found a better hotel. Hotel The hotel itself consists of 20 water villas and 10 beach villas. We stayed in Water villa 26 on the sunset side but I found the Beach villas equally charming as they are situated right on the beach and in the shadow of the jungle-like vegetation. As a beach lover, I would strongly consider staying in one of those next time also. It's a bare foot hotel so once you step on the island, you can throw your shoes and flip flops away. There are 2 main beaches with amazing fine white sand - the Sunset one (next to the Water villas path) and the Seaplane one (the one on the side of the jetty where we usually went to see the sea planes land and take off). Both are shallow (the whole lagoon keeps a constant depth of 1.2-1.5 meter at high and 0.5-1. at low tide). There is 1 restaurant, 1 bar-restarurant, a small store and the diving center. Water Villa It was clean, spacious and very light with a big open verandah. Also, a separate shower and a bathtub with an open view to the lagoon (once you open the bathroom side doors). It was cleaned 2 times per day and we always got a little surprise on the bed in the form of a masterfully folded tower (be it a crab or a birthday cake or something else). There were fish swimming in the waters around the villa and the staircase was an easy access to the underwater world. House reef After reading a lot of reviews here and there about how bad and dead the House reef was, I was actually very pleasantly surprised to see that it's not that bad at all. Yes, there are dead corals as everywhere else on the Maldives but there are also parts where the reef is starting to come back to life and we saw so many fish that at some point I had a hard time remembering and identifying them all. The reef is huge and it spans on such a vast territory around the island that we didn't manage to go over all of it. We frequented the reef around the diving center as this is where all the commotion was happening. Sharks are a constant presence there and I got used to their company which startled me at first. There are also trigger fish, trumpet fish, sea needles, octopus, butterflyfish, angelfish, clownfish (Nemo), blue surgeon fish (Dori), parrot fish, moorish idol, different kinds of groupers, ahh, forget it, I cannot name them all. And believe it or not, we also saw a Napelon fish at the edge of the reef. There were also some stingrays passing by. We didn't see a turtle but we saw many on another reef that we went to. There is also a white moral eel that lives in the lagoon. I challenge you to find it. You will often see it chasing the crabs in the morning at the entrance of the Water villa pathway. Wake up at sunrise :) Overall experience We had a marvelous time. From the sea plane ride, to the warm welcome of the staff, all through the amazing food their chef prepares (truly, he is a Micheline star chef, all his food is so delicious I dropped my diet for good) and the knowledgeable guys at the diving center. Thank you so much for making our stay unforgettable. We will definitely return soon for more fun and adventure!

Drift is an exquisite island! We caught a seaplane there and the friendly staff served a cup of ginger fruit juice upon arrival. We stayed at a stunning water villa, with panoramic crystal clear blue water view, with direct access to the ocean for a spectacular snorkelling experience. The reef is breathtaking and we saw beautiful coral, fish, reef shark and a turtle! We enjoyed the all inclusive package because it took care of all meals and beverages. We highly recommend Drift for a romantic getaway and relaxing under the sun!

Aminath Solih Reservations Manager: "Greetings from Drift Thelu Veliga Retreat, Many thanks for the flight detail and full names . Seaplane transfer will be arranged accordingly. We have also noted the special room location request and will try our best to accommodate as requested ." Reservations for the Drift Thelu Veliga Retreat were made via Agoda and confirmed on December 07, 2020. The hotel did not respond to my two emails with further inquiries. Finally, on March 09, 2021, I wrote to the hotel and reported our arrival and departure flights, as well as the guest list. On March 10, the hotel's Aminath Solih Reservations Manager replied: "Greetings from Drift Thelu Veliga Retreat, Many thanks for the flight detail and full names . Seaplane transfer will be arranged accordingly. We have also noted the special room location request and will try our best to accommodate as requested ." In general, she confirmed that they are waiting for us. And today, on April 02, 2021, we received a letter from Agoda informing us that the hotel refuses to accept us at the price of this booking. That is, the hotel took 4 months to find out its inability to receive guests with an already confirmed reservation. Such disrespect for hotel guests is simply indecent and unacceptable.

Beautiful place, snorkelling right out of your balcony, nice staff, a bit too religious for covering at the beach but altogether is fine. Good buffet food too much Indian spices in everything even steamed vegetable. Water villas are very nice. A bit far from the airport but also very private. It’s good for couples. If you have kids probably you need another island.

Despite a few initial wrinkles communicating with the reservation staff and availability of the masseuse...we had the perfect family Christmas and NY at Drift. Although officially an adult only resort we were allowed to bring our children with us as an exception. All members of staff were very friendly. The bungalows were well appointed and cleaned twice per day. Mr “Su-Santa” (maitre d’) satisfied all our culinary desires. You must reserve the lobster lunch at the beach! “Riffle” (and Monty) took very good care of us on all the excursions. We really appreciated the extra activities the resort organised to entertain our family. Elias’s gin fizz and sunny disposition was a daily delight. In general the buffet was ok / as expected. The quality of the a la carte was very good. We are not fans of big commercial resorts and prefer a la carts vs all inclusive. Conclusion: don’t expect a fully well oiled machine...there will be some imperfections...but the laid back, authentic and friendly atmosphere in a picture perfect setting overcame any worries or concerns that we may have had. Highlights: 1. Snorkelling on the House reef / Excursions with “Riffle” to see the Mantas and Turtles 2. Romantic lobster lunch at the beach 3. Friendliness of all staff Lowlights: 1. Communication with reservation staff (at time of booking) 2. Wine list

This was one of the best and most relaxing holidays we have ever experienced. Staff was fantastic, the location was perfect and the food was out of this world. We arrived by sea plane and were met at the dock to be taken to our villa. We were tired and ready to relax, but unfortunately there was an issue with our room. Iresha and Aisha from the Front Office went well above and beyond to address the situation and make sure we were satisfied with our accommodation. We very much appreciated how they handled the situation and ensured we had the best stay possible. We stayed in a water villa and loved the large deck where we could relax after swimming and snorkeling and also sit and watch the sunset in the evening. The bathroom was huge, and we liked that there was both a shower and a bathtub available. When sitting in the bathtub, you could open the doors and look out over the water! Jonny from Housekeeping came twice a day to check the room. He made sure it was always clean, stocked the minibar and prepared the bed at night always with a cute message. We also appreciated the daybed in the room. It rained one of the days we were there, but we could relax on the day bed, read and just watch the storm above the water. Iresha and Aisha were both amazing throughout the whole week giving us great tips for things to do and arranging for several excursions. We went on the trip to see the whale shark and the experience was breathtaking. Swimming with an enormous fish like that is a once in a lifetime experience! But we were also able to see so many beautiful fish snorkeling right in the water around our villa. We saw so many types of fish we bought a book at the airport on the way home to try to identify them all. We really liked how quiet it was on the island. It felt like we had the place to ourselves. The unique aspect of Drift is that it's small. This means the service is very personal and you can enjoy an incredibly friendly atmosphere. It's not a party place, but you definitely won't be bored. Our trip was all-inclusive, but due to COVID there was no buffet available. We were very happy about this! We chose whatever we liked from the menu for breakfast and had multiple courses for both lunch and dinner. I am a vegetarian while my partner is not, but this was not an issue. Chef Aruna surprised us every day with delicious and beautifully presented meals. One point I'd like to make though is that I think the kitchen might offer more vegetarian options in general for their guests. Not every meal needs to have meat or fish, and sometimes we would enjoy just a simple pasta or a lighter dish. I have to say, however, the food was one of the highlights of the trip and we were excited every day to see what Chef Aruna would prepare for us. We really liked going each evening after dinner to the bar to enjoy a drink. Eliyas prepared the cocktails just how we liked them and was always attentive and friendly. They also offered great snacks in the afternoon so you could get a bite if you wanted before dinner. Overall, we highly recommend Drift Retreat as a place to unwind and relax, enjoy incredible food and be surrounded by excellent staff that go out of their way to make your stay special.

We was in November and stayed for 10 days on the island. We booked all inclusive. The island is arround 35-40 minutes with the water airplane from Male away. We had a Water Bungalow on the Sunset side and it was really nice. A big bath, the terrace was nice and large. The room was clean and the room boy came two times a day (Morning and Evening) The stuff on the island was so friendly. Above all, we would like to emphasize the kitchen chef. About the Corona Situation and not so many guests we had for Lunch and Dinner Set-Menu. The menu was always varied. Sometimes with fish, meat, Italian, Asia Kitchen etc. We believe that the chef cooks at a 5-star level! Also when you had a wish to eat it wasn't a problem. They island is ideal for spending honeymoon or time for two. In the rooms you haven't any TV. For us it wasn't a problem, but just for them where need it. The house reef offers a good opportunity for snorkeling and there is much more to see in addition to sharks, turtles and rays. It should be mentioned that we arrived around the lunch time but we didn't come until dinner. On our departure day we left the island in the evening and they informed us if we want to eat the lunch it's only included if we haven't lunch on our arrival day. Otherwise they will charge us. So we think they should inform the guests on the arrival day, because it's nice to know...especially when you stay on the departure day longer than 12 o'clock.. All drinks and we mean all drinks including water would be charged after 12 o'clock. So we had our lunch for free, because we hadn't on our arrival day but the bottle water where we had for lunch was charged. If we consider that we also paid additionly a larger amount to the hotel (Whale Shark Trip, Romantic Dinner) we were disappointed with the water for lunch. For them who need WiFi, this is a point where is really bad. The WiFi is so bad that it's not possible to watch short videos and when you have some guests on the island it works nothing with the WiFi. We had arround 8 guests inculding us on the island but we think after Corona when some more guests will come, you can check maybe only your Whats App and that's all. But we spend a wonderful time on this small island, with the friendly staff and we will come in the future again.
