We spent one night at La Pradera during a recent trip to Monteverde. We were greeted warmly by Tony upon our arrival. He showed us around the property and pointed out a baby sloth sleeping in the tree by the reception area. This is a family run business located on a beautiful farm property with lots of birds and wildlife. They have a hiking trail around the property with signage about the local flora and fauna. Our cabana was very charming with comfortable beds and all the essentials we needed. Breakfast was excellent - made fresh to order and served with warm hospitality. My son and I have celiac disease and they were very accommodating in providing us a gluten-free breakfast. We enjoyed hiking around the property, meeting the other guests and seeing the birds and animals.
we booked this hotel for 2 nights in march 2020 and due to the pandemic we cancelled the whole trip and the hotel manager Anthony mentioned that they will charge only for single night ,but they charged for both the nights and never returned the money. Its been two months and no action from their side after numerous emails and phone conversations. Very un professional.
First, the pros.....nice setting, easy to find, quiet with nice wildlife/birds on the grounds. Anthony/Tony at the front desk was polite, easy to speak with, very helpful and informative about the area! Cabins are cute with a nice set-up on the grounds. Grounds are nice and should be explored. Very close to town and easy to get back and forth to attractions. Now the cons...kitchenware was not very good at all with limited utensils and flatware. Pans were covered with burn on previous use and kind of gross. overall cleanliness could use improvement. Also..there was no television service as described. It was a satisfactory stay with the pros/cons hence the 3 star rating...Kudos to Tony as he is a great asset to the business!!
We had one of the biggest Cabañas for 4 people so that the children had their own bed. The 2 bathrooms were very small, but clean. The Cabaña was simple, also the breakfast, but the surroundings was very nice. There was a little pool in the garden and lot of birds. Nice and quiet place!
Nice location and very friendly staff but we found rooms have not been properly cleaned for some time with lots of spider webs everywhere and dust, in particular under the beds. Nets in the windows had holes so insects and other creatures did crawl in. Found a scorpion sitting on the curtain in the bedroom one day. But overall facilities as expected for cabana standards.
Nice complex of stylish mountain wooden cottages near Santa Elena town, close to all attractions the area has to offer . Climate is surprisingly cold for Costa Rica but it's very refreshing when you come from a city like Liberia.
A beautiful location with excellent accommodation for large families. The cabins are well equipped and ideal for self-catering. Melissa was fantastic, and extremely helpful in assisting us book several tours.
It is a fairly adventurous drive to get to Monteverde, but absolutely worth it if you're looking to get away from the touristy spots and enjoy the natural scenery of the area. We had a spectacular view from our cabana, and the staff were all absolutely fabulous. Very friendly and accommodating, and went out of their way to ensure our every need was met. The pool is not heated, so we didn't end up using it at all, but the property is spectacular. We were lucky enough to see a sloth onsite who woke up from his afternoon nap to eat for awhile. I cannot wait to return to this little hidden gem! Breakfast was delicious, and is the typical Costa Rican breakfast.
Cabañas La Pradera is a wonderful collection of cabañas, trails, nature reserve, coffee farm, pool, and trampoline for your family to explore. Tony & his family have been so helpful calling taxis for us, setting up guided night and day hikes with naturalists, suggesting delicious restaurants, and booking zipline adventures. Our 9 and 13 year olds run around, exploring the grounds, finding sloths and gorgeous birds in the trees. We have felt totally safe here and so well cared for by this local tico family!
What a lovely place to stay. Simple, basic but cosy log cabins, complete with kitchenette, set in incredible grounds where we saw endless varieties of birds, not to mention two sloths. It is a bit out of town, but walkable if you're fit (20 minutes uphill into town) or easy enough to ask the owners to call you a cab into town for a couple of dollars. Very good value for money, and the owners were lovely and really helpful - showing us the sloths in question! There is a pool but it's freezing as you're so far above sea level there. It doesn't matter, there's so much to do around there you won't miss it. Stay there, you won't regret it. Cabins could probably do with a facelift, but they're clean, and you won't be spending much time in them!
