I spent three nights at the Hotel El Viandante and it was a great base for exploring Monteverde. I had a clean, quiet, large room with a comfy bed, a hot shower, and WiFi, for around $50 per night, breakfast included, and that was exactly what I was looking for. Grace and Renzo were excellent hosts and gave me lots...

Grace and Renzo were so nice to us during our stay in feb 2011. They showed us maps of the area, recommended great restaurants and live music - they were not only owners but acted a concierge, too. Every time we asked for help, they were more than happy to oblige. It was apparent that they loved the city and...

My daughter and I stayed three nights at El Viandante. The hotel was clean, the breakfast good, and the shower hot with good water pressure. On our second day, our rental car had a flat which the owner gracefully changed for us (with a smile). The owners and their children are very friendly and helpful. My only bit of advice...

We spent a long time deciding on a hotel in Monteverde, and we're glad we stayed here. The building itself is very new and spotless. They room was large and very cheap, but the furniture is pretty bare-bones. It has a tv but no table, no chairs. This was pretty standard for the area, but what made El Viandante stand...

I pulled up without a reservation at 4:45 pm shaken and stirred by the stony road from Arenal. The nice couple had a night tour arranged for me at 5:20. They will arrange and explain all of the local tour options which is invaluable if you haven't planned in advance and need to maximize your time there. The rooms were...

I must echo the good reviews I have read here. It is good to see that this place is consistent in delivering such an exceptional value. The reviews attest to that. I almost wondered if we weren't truly special, until I read the other reviews again. The reviews initially helped us pick this place, for our stay in Monteverde, and...

It’s hard to believe how cheap is this B&B compared with the quality of the place. Rooms are big, well decorated and clean. Breakfast is at the first floor and while you are enjoying fresh fruit, you have the opportunity to see a nice view of the town. Renzo and Grace are awesome. They are very helpful. They guided us...

We stayed in 4 different cities during our trip to Costa Rica and I have to say that Monteverde was the best out of San Jose, La Fortuna and Guanacaste. What made our stay more enjoyable was El Viandante. Prices are reasonable, and rooms are so comfy. Renzo and Grace are so accommodating and hospitable. :) we also loved the...
