This was our first stop in Costa Rica. The hotel is located a little away from the main street so we had to drive for dinner (we had rented a car, so it wasn't too bad). We didn't spend too much time in the hotel, since we had planned on doing a whole bunch of activities. But the time that...

Quite a nice place at the forest entrance although rooms in the original building have no heating and in the evening they are jolly cold and noisy from the winds rattling the windows. Perhaps double glazing and heating system should be added in these. Staff nice enough but didn't see any management around at all. Unless doing an excursion very...

The included breakfast was good and the staff very friendly. Unfortunately the room was not. The bathroom had a terrible odour. The room itself was not very well insulated and you could hear the neighbours from the bathroom. Nice views but too far out from town. $10 taxi each way.

I didn't book the reservation to begin with and I really didn't like this place. It's the closest hotel to the cloud forest but it's too far from town for me. Getting here on these terrible roads was no fun. There's no pool or jacuzzi here. The original building is dated however the second building which was built in 2010...

Amazing restaurant (best food we had all week!) with excellent service. Rooms were clean and the view of the rainforest from the room was nothing short of magical. Staff was helpful and understanding with tours (ours was late getting us back and we had to check out late). Outside of the busier section of town...so great for restful meditation. beautiful...

Whilst the landscape around is stunning and the staff are pleasant and helpful, I was very disappointed with this hotel. There is no tea, coffee, drinking water facilities in the room! It is very noisy due to the windy conditions, making sleep difficult. I felt quite scared all night due to the severe wind beating against the windows, making doors...

Be warned! Travel to the lodge requires 4wd. A fair part of the journey is over gravel roads. No shoulders, no medians, and sloooow. The lodge is a lovely vista built on a mountainside. Rooms have valley views and the lodge is in walking distance to the Monteverde Cloud reserve. Unlike much of Costa Rica altitude here makes tor cool...

We had the largest rooms of all, here on our two week trip. They looked over attractive gardens, we had a free safe, quite good Wi-fi, coffee making in the room and plenty of plugs for all our devices. On our arrival and throughout our stay the staff were friendly, courteous and very helpful. Breakfast was provided and we had...

Since Monteverde is one of Costa Rica's principal Park attractions it is staggering just how bad the unpaved approach roads are - on travelling from Arenal to Monteverde the last 20 miles was on the worst unmade roads that I have experienced anywhere in the world - sort of roads you would just avoid. The unpaved road departing to the...
