We stayed in the dorms for about a week which was a lot of fun. But what was even more interesting was the ecotourism aspect of the place. Everything we did was part of a closed loop system that eventually benefitted our stay even further. Solar panels, biodigesters, and a farm all contributed to an enjoyable and sustainable stay here.

We loved the whole experience. After teaching Ecology for 46 years I really appreciate the quality of instruction of the interns.Visiting the research station gives me so much hope for the planet. The facilities were comfortable and the food was very good. We will return and plan more time here. It does take a 4-wheel drive to get to the location.

We stayed there during Christmas week to New Year's, and were enthralled by the beauty of the setting and the energy, hospitality, and warmth of all of the staff. I highly recommend taking advantage of the on-site lectures and tours by the resident naturalists, and also taking their recommendations as to what day trips you may want to take. They...

My friend and I are long-time travel industry professionals, so you can imagine how meticulously we planned our most recent trip to the Monteverde area of Costa Rica. We both enjoy accommodation that is a bit out of the ordinary when we travel - convents, yurts, tree houses, etc., so we were looking to stay somewhere unique in the rainforest....

Our visit to San Luis was the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica; in fact, I think it is my favorite place my husband and I have stayed on four continents over the last 15 years of adventuring together. We stayed in the cabinas with our three-year-old daughter and our five-month-old baby. From the moment we arrived from the...

I would unreservedly recommend a stay at the UGA research station at San Luis. The location is stunning, the enthusiasm to sustain the amazing bioidiversity of the cloud forest and the different habitats of Costa Rica is infectious. The Research director in particular is passionate about the work of the centre and the importance of maintaining and the further developing...

I stayed at UGA campus with my daughter (12 ) and we both loved it. Hanging in the mountains, you can really discover the forest and its inhabitants! Everyone is relax, friendly, and ready to bring you the best experience. Have typical food lunch with the students, have dinner with a family, play soccer with them, discover Brad's moth walls,...

We booked Cabina 1 for two weeks and were amazed by everything and everyone! Every day was amazing. We will be back. UGA is an experience not to be missed. The staff, volunteers, naturalists and even the founders themselves were outstanding!!! We will be back and would happily spend a month here in this beautiful special place if we could!...

We stayed at the UGACR Ecolodge in San Luis for three nights in July. San Luis is about 20-25 minutes outside Monteverde. We had a rental car but if you're taking the bus to Monteverde/Santa Elena, we're told that it's about a $15 cab ride. The vistas on the drive between Monteverde and San Luis are spectacular. This part of...
