Visited early November 2016, and stayed for one night so that we were well placed for a Castle Tour the next day which had been booked for 11am. To take advantage of the accommodation, one of us had to have paid for membership of the German YHA. The Castle has huge history, and it was fantastic to stay within the...

Popped in to have a look, excellent facility for schoolchildren, guides, brownies, scouts, cadet force etc. Very informative for Colditz castle. Close to Leipzig and the countryside. Definately worth a trip if you are a youth leader.

Nice location, good size room, English spoken, games rooms with pool, table tennis, fussball , etc. As a family of four we would stay again. It was pretty economical and reception sells beer. Breakfast is basic and we found a nice local restaurant for the evening. It's a bit off the beaten track and that's what we wanted. Do the...

We spend one night in this hostel, and it was great experience. Hostel is situated in castle itself, that we enjoyed a lot. Polite staff, clean rooms. We had both supper and breakfast (they have tables outside, so we enjoyed nice view), the food is good. It has forest, where you can take nice walks. At museum (situated in the...

I booked a family room for husband and 11 year old son for a one night stay, before we did the Colditz Castle tour the following morning. The hostel and our room was spotlessly clean. The rooms are very basic (3 single beds, small table and stools) and there isn't anywhere to store (cold) food. We arrived on a Sunday...

Just one over night stop for a group of 6. The place looks wonderful from the outside and is very clean on the inside. We were in a six person room consisting of three bunks, shower room and toilet. More than adequate and the staff were excellent. Make your own beds when you arrive and we used the bed sheets...

Well where do I start. My wife and I had been on a luxury cruise on the Celebrity Constrllation around the wetern Med. As we had driven to Venice to start and finish point of the cruise I asked her if she would like to go somewhere totally different on the way home. So having driven up into Germany we...

Staff were excellent and kept all in order. Bad night's sleep due to noise in the court yard. No evening meal but just walked out the main gate to a local hostelry. Great tour with Steiffi but got stuck climbing out the vent where Pat Reid escaped., sorry left. At the end of our stay just glided away.

My partner wanted to stay at the castle after seeing you could on top gear. We had to join the YHA which at 50 seemed a little strange. However we have used 3 more hostels since. The place is spotlessly clean. There are lifts if you have mobility issues. You have to make and strip your beds but that was...
