Just the one night, 3 bed cottage suited us well. No food outlets in town so you need to come prepared (which we were) - kitchen well equipped. Inner bathroom needs airing. Nice village by the coast, easy to drive past, but a pleasnt place to stop.

Great little place, spacious private balcony was nice. The bed was large and room was clean. Water pressure in the shower wasn't great but bathroom was otherwise practical. Having cookware and crockery provided was also great and essential as Okarito has no shops so we were able to cook our meals in our room.

Very friendly owner, nice rooms, very cute little house, fast internet, free laundry. It's the perfect place to stay here in this region, especially when you go on the Kiwi Tour. I'm glad we've got a room!!

The "hutel" in the Okarito Beach House is a very cute, romantic small house like a big caravan. There are a lot of special details and decorations. You find everything you need - bathroom, small kitchen, dining table - in the hut. Very quiet and nice place. Good for exploring nature hiking or kayaking or doing a bird boat trip...

This is a very peaceful place to stay. Clean and easy to be in. Aeon is very helpful with anything you need and recommended a great little concert in Donovan's hall when I was there. Plenty of hot water and very comfy beds, insect screens on window too- to keep out the nasty sand flies ! The village is sleepy...

If you're looking for night life, shops and restaurants, forget it. If you like being off the beaten track, enjoy walking and are interested in natural history, especially birds, and conservation, this is the place. The kitchen is so well equipped you could easily rustle up a quick snack or a full family meal so long as you remember to...

Stayed in the Hutel taking shelter from the west coast weather. Escapism comes at a price so consider the lodge rooms for better value. As others have said bring everything you need and you won't be pestered by calls or texts..

This is a beautiful beach house. Modernly decorated, fireplace to keep warm and everything you could possibly need. It's reasonably priced and the beds are comfy. We were fortunate to be there by ourselves due to it being quiet season so was bliss. Not sure how it would be if all the rooms were rented out to different people. For...

"Wow" - the first comment which came out of my mouth when I stepped foot in the beach house. We arrived at about 645pm, in the pouring rain but with the help of the owner we started the fire and it warmed up the place entirely! It really does live up to the name "beach house" with amazing drift wood...

Extremely comfortable accommodation in a peaceful coastal enclave about 30kms north-west of Franz Josef township. Plenty of bush and beach to walk on and a huge estuary to explore by kayak - either on your own or guided. Ideal base for experiencing the wider glacier country for those who appreciate natural surroundings and life at a more gentle clip.
