Accomodation is 2km outside National Park, so not suitable if you looking to go to town for a few drinks. Website says full breakfast, toast and cereal provided only, no hot food, when our friends asked for some more butter to put on their toast, it seemed to the host as a major issue and commented "they used all the...

Great lodge, quiet quaint rooms, very reminiscent of a good old kiwi bach. Very friendly and knowedgable staff, they made the crossing real easy for us.

We found Mountain Heights Lodge to be very adequate for our purpose, although a little dated. We were in town to do the Tongariro Crossing and were able to catch a shuttle directly from the Lodge. The kitchenette was very well stocked and clean (better than most we found on our two week trip in NZ). The Lodge is close...

We stayed in a motel unit. Was surprised how run down and basic everything was which is okay as long as it is comfortable, clean and everything works. Unfortunately unless the shower was either running at boiling or freezing it was just a trickle and the bed had seen better days. There were cobwebs and thick dust in parts of...

We stayed here a couple of days before xmas after booking online wewere put in a motel room so no breakfast. Please note this accomodation is outside the village and is on the main road so trucks drive by all night!!. Not sure if this is normal in NZ but beds were not remade or towels replaced but someone had...

This was a good place for a comfortable overnight stay. A couple of reviewers have mentioned the unfriendly welcome - was this the same place? Our welcome was warm, friendly and helpful. We stayed in two of their B&B rooms, both reasonably sized and clean. Breakfast was good, exactly as described in taboocuttie's review below, also with friendly service. With...

Was pleasantly surprised when we arrived here. The hosts were friendly. The room was clean and warm. Heaters on in the evening, make for a warm welcome. Tea/coffee facilities were adequate. Breakfast in the morning was filling. Salami/ham and 3 kinds of cheeses were on offer as well as cereal, toast, fruit salad, coffee, tea and juice. Also a spa...

We were an extended family with friends and also 4 kids in the group. Our primary goal was the highly rated (and true!) Tongariro Alpine Crossing, at least a few of us, whilst the rest chilled out. The Mountain Heights Lodge provided us excellent value and great, friendly service. It was convenient to get to the start of the Alpine...

Four of us stayed in the B&B Lodge in 2 separate ensuite clean and comfortable rooms. Our Hosts provided us with a great breakfast and also with helpful advice on places to go and paces to eat. Good suggestions even with wet weather. We also spent time with them chatting by the cosy woodburner in the lounge. We enjoyed that...
