We stayed here for two nights to give us the best chance of walking the crossing. We stayed in a semi detached chalet which was very comfortable. It had everything you would need for a short stay. The advantage of this accommodation is it is the closest to the start of the crossing ( 20 minute bus ride). This transfer...

We stayed in a small chalet for three nights and we loved it! First of all the staff at the reception was very helpful and friendly. The chalet itself exceeded expectations- clean, modern, cosy, nicely furnished, with amazing views, enough space around your chalet for privacy, parking for the car…. You can cook if you want to (and we did...

The receptionist helped us a lot organizing our Tongariro Alpine Crossing (beautiful walk by the way). Although we booked our stay at the site for the wrong date she gave us tips how we could do the walk at the desired date. They really want you to have a great time in the National Park and do whatever they can...

We stayed for one night in a unit. The block of motel cabins (units) behind the reception area look quite dated compared to the detached chalets on the site. The units are small but comfortable. Cooking facilities are very limited. The location in the park is very good, however.

Simple facilities, but everything that was needed (except wifi!) was available. Great place to stay for total peace and quiet, with fantastic views of the 3 volcanic mountains. Closest campground to the start of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, shuttle bus available.

I stayed in one of the chalets & was very impressed. Clean & comfortable with just the basics in the kitchenette but enough to save me the hassle of having to eat out. But the location (close to Tongariro) & the views from the room definitely made it worthwhile.

We stayed for three nights at Discovery in a studio chalet. The chalet itself is cosy and clean. You can prepare your own meal but you can also eat a simple meal in the lodge. Neither chalet nor lodge has wifi. However there’s internet available in the guest lounge. Looking at the interior of the lodge itself, well it’s a...

The unit (1 bedroom with a king and single) worked well for us during a two night stay and we were very comfortable as the unit was large, had a nice living room and had some kitchen/cooking facilities, but it is a little outdated and no limited housekeeping was provided during the stay. There is a restaurant, but we had...

We stayed here for 1 night as this was a halfway point for us travelling further up north. The campsite isn't very well laid out as there was a car and tent parked right over the entrance to the site so we opted for a concrete park as we were in a campervan. The amenities were ok, kind of clean...

The chalets were very clean, comfortable, warm and spacious. It was easy to find and the views from the rooms were stunning! The real surprise was the tiny restaurant - we had the most delicious meal! I had a Korean Beef warm salad - highly recommend! The shuttle bus to Tongariro for people wishing to do the crossing was quite...
