We went to dinner in the new view restaurant there were 10 tables with diners we were seated at our table at 7pm drinks arrived about ten minutes later followed by our main course at 7-25 we finished our meal at about 7-40 but waited until 8-10 before they took our plates away when we were asked if we wanted the desert menu so we replied yes please but sat there until gone 8-30 before we got up and left the restaurant so we decided to get a drink from the bar but after watching 3 young boys putting up one order for 20 minutes without being asked if we needed anything was a joke so decided to go to the bar on the 3rd floor on our way out we were stopped and asked if we could sign for our dinner when we complained about the wait the waitress replied it was a bit confused a bit confusing is an understatement it would have been quicker to have gone into Exmouth for food an absolutely ridiculous wait I’m afraid 2 hours for one course is diabolical a joke and what makes it worse is you are given a 3 hour time limit so avoid at all cost

Eric was literally our savior. When we got locked out of an airbnb at 11pm and couldn’t contact the host, he was the only hotel person we could get a hold of. He kindly let us book a room well after closing and even checked in on us once we were settled. The price was very reasonable and the room was comfy. The level of service was unparalleled and we will 100% be staying at the Park on our next Crossing attempt!

Great place to stay and relax. The room was spacious and clean, and comes with a number of towels. Shower pressure was ok but the temperature made for it, they also provide extra blankets in case you get cold during the night. Lovely staff, I highly recommend visiting the restaurant for breakfast and dinner! Decently priced!

While returning from Wellington to Auckland, we broke up our stay at The Park Hotel, in National Park, Ruapehu. The room was quite small, but we only needed it for sleep, and to wash. So it did our family of 3 very well. But who visits this region to sleep? OK, us. But we enjoyed the views, and the quietness. The best part of this hotel, is the hidden jems of the restaurant, and bar. They are amazing. The hot pools, we agreed are a winter, not summer treat. With a child, we found them a bit hot.

Had a really enjoyable evening here pre-Christmas. It was the perfect place to meet up with family. We had Yummy ribs, calamari and a burger, with the best crispy fries and a buttery Chardonnay. Recommend you go there if you want great service, and a fun night. Five stars 🥂🙏🏻🤩

Great value for money. Warm welcome, the room was a pleasant surprise, very toasty. Fire going in the restaurant. Had too many glasses of mulled wine. The food is rustic and aplenty. Didn’t have a spa but there were two available. Overall couldn’t complain. Big thank you to receptionist Jess. Very helpful and accommodating. As I said in the title “We’ll be back”.

Omg where to start. When we arrived there were no car parks for guests which made unloading difficult. Perhaps some guest only car parks might help. The room was old and broken. The toilet door didn’t close properly, the tiles in the bathroom were cracked and I almost cut my toe on it. It was a very small bathroom and made getting ready quite a mission. The towels and sheets seemed clean but the room itself was dirty. But what was the absolute worse thing and perhaps not the hotels fault, although obviously the sound proofing has a lot to be desired, was the noise from other guests. There were children running and jumping and yelling in the next room and up and down the corridors. They started at 5.30 in the morning and didn’t stop till 9.30 at night. It literally was constant noise and even made the stairs in our room shudder. After one night even though we were booked in for 2 we left. We couldn’t face one more night or lining up for dinner. School holidays or not there is no reason for people to let kids carry on like that. Never in my life ( honestly) have we stayed anywhere quite that bad.

School holidays can be frustrating for guests when other people's children are free ranging around the place. It is one of the few time when we're actually really busy so we can empathise with these guests — mostly we're about about half full these days in the new Covid environment. We'll certainly look into the issues raised re the room as they re not acceptable. We would dispute the "room is old and broken... room itself was dirty". We are noted for our high standards of cleanliness which numerous reiews will attest.

Stayed ANZAC weekend with the crossing package which included 2 nights, 2x breakfast, shuttle to and from the hike and a packed lunch (also paid an extra night). A really good deal and the packed lunch was great. The rooms are well appointed although the bathrooms are tight with the door closed - shower is nice and hot after a day of activities. Restaurant is good (we ate there three nights) - recommend the steak. Enjoyed the stay and the service and staff were outstanding. Cant wait to return.

Room and bed are clean, restaurant is good, but both could be improved. Didn't feel that welcoming from the receptionist, as a start. The decoration is the simplest. The bathroom is so small. No microwave provided, even in the kitchen/restaurant.

Thank you for your review and recognition of the price value aspect — important in our market. We accept that our bathrooms are small but they're functional an the showers are great! As this is a hotel we don't provide any cooking facilities for gueat use. Perhaps motel style accommodation or hostel would more suit this reviewer?
