Treated ourselves to a stay here as a special treat while we were on the Camino as it was our 25th wedding anniversary. Had been looking forward to a luxurious break and weren't disappointed by the rooms. These were rustic and comfortable and had luxurious baths. However when we went to the restaurant we should have known there was something wrong, besides ourselves there were only two other people. Again physically lovely with light bay windows. However the meals we got were very disappointing. I ordered roast vegetables and got just roast peppers. My Eel was very uninspiring and bland. My wife ordered chicken which had a nice sauce but was over cooked and my freind ordered cod which was baked to death. White wine was lovely but at €30 a bottle overpriced. A meal for the four of us, admittedly with two bottles of wine and two brandies, ended up costing €160 which would have been fine if we had been wowed by the food but we've had better meals with two bottles of wine off Pilgrim menus for €40. So great venue but not value.

In 2008, I tried to get a room but it was full. This time there was a double room and the owner gave me a reduction for single use, she also gave a glass of wine and a tapas. I have reviewed other hotels from my Camino and this was exceptional, classic furniture in a room with a seating area and TV. It was expensive but as I always say, I am happy if I get more than I paid for and I did. But I could not afford to eat in the restaurant other than a salad but even that was excellent.

This was such a lovely place. Our room was beautifully appointed with a gorgeous bath and very comfortable beds. It was just a delightful surprise after a day of driving along the Camino de Santiago. The breakfast was delicious the next morning and our dessert the evening before was also good. (We did not have dinner there). Everyone was very helpful though we did not speak much Spanish. Excellent service; friendly staff; lovely place.

I don't know that I've ever stayed in a building which has had such an effect on me. The galleried courtyard, drenched though it was in a monsoon-like rainstorm, immediately impressed me, as did the galleries themselves with their seemingly ancient wood, pottery and farm tools. The room we had was by no means modern but it oozed character in its furnishing and woodwork. To go with this was a uniformity of Spanish charm from the staff. We were met with a glass of wine and empanada, shown proudly to our room, served with kind attention at dinner and greeted with smiles at breakfast. I'll admit I made a wrong choice at dinner, having to chew through a hefty serving of botilla, but that hardly detracted from a wonderful experience. We were genuinely sad to leave Moncloa and I hope we'll find our way there again.
