We spend quite some time finding the place. Once we got to the road the gate was closed and my wife asked in spanish if that is the hostel. And we just got a very moody no. After some time searching I asked again as some one pointed it to us and the lady first just said no again then...

I have stayed at Lydia's Hostal Veraguas many times because I have to come to the very uninteresting town of Santiago every year. She manages to do alot with a little and works with the guests' needs and is totally fluent in English. The place is basic and not for vacationing hang-out. ( who would want to hang out in...

The people are nice but thar it. Trhe bed are so hard that you feel very bad in the morning. The dorm was not that clean and I was the only guest. The "kitchen" is just not a kitchen. No running water and no ofen.

My friends and I went to this hostel for a one-nigth stopover on our way to Santa Catalina. This hostel is the most terrible place we have visited during our travels. The rooms are really small and definitely NOT worth the money. The matrasses are very thin and the sheets were dirty. One of us went to the toilet and...

On my was to Santa catalina i had to stay in Santiago because there was no more bus to my destination. So I was glad that I found this cozy, cheap hostal with kitchen, dorm, internet and a nice garden. the owner ,lidia, was very friendly and helped and informed me. it has all what a backpacker needs and if...

This was by far the most horrible place where we stayed in Central America during our 3-month trip. We stayed in the dorm (USD 10 per bed) but this isn't even worth half of it. The dorm is actually a sort of crappy hut in the garden. We didn't sleep much as the fake mattress made of cheap moss smells...

The 3 of us stayed here for $38 over night in the interior dorm next to the kitchen. Can't say it's an especially nice place, but neither is it completely horrible. There were a lot of ants in the room, but beds were free of critters and sheets were clean. In general the condition of the entire place is quite...

We had to stop in Santiago after a long drive. We chose this hostel because they had let us arrive at 11pm, which is kind of nice, but they asked us to leave before 8am, so we didn't get a lot of sleep. It was 20$ for a room with a double bed, located outside on the left side of...

We left bocas del toro for santa catalina, only to realise that we couldn't make the trip in one day as we weren't going to make the sona bus. We would recommend making a point of stopping here to break your journey up and enjoy the starfruit and herb-filled garden, friendly atmosphere and great cheap stay at this hostal. Unfortunately...

Old and crapy and still quiet expencive. It's the cheapest place in Santiago, the only cheap place and you can notice that there is no comatition. In four weeks Panama this was the worst hostel with the highest price. It is doable for sure and if the price was lower I would be more positive.
