We did not sleep there but we tried the restaurant and it was a great choice. Very big dishes, nicely cooked and really cheap. Less than 10€ per person. Best restaurant we tried in the whole area of Sanabria
Typical Spanish traditional food that was very nice indeed, the dessert was delicious! The staff is nice and it has an outdoor seating area. They also have a few vegetarian options. All in all it was a great experience.
A superb stay, we were on the 3rd floor and even had our bags carried up for us. The staff were absolutely lovely, they are hard working running the hostal and the great restaurant which is part of Maribona Gela, our Spanish is pretty poor really so the staff did an English written translation of the entire menu! Magnificent and appreciated. The hostal is right in the village of El Puerte, a delightful place with super friendly people, very family focused. You are very close to the Castello at Sanabria, a great visit just allow a full day to do it justice. We have driven 4 weeks in Spain past those leaping deer warning signs and it was only in El Puerte that we saw deer, on the road and Big!!.Be careful. Thank you everyone at Maribona Gela for making our stay truly memorable.
Room was fine, the only huge negative point was that we marked a NON-smking room while making a reservation, and there was a bad surprise waiting when we entered a nice room full of smoke of previous guests, nothing more disgusting than that. We had to open the window and while we were dining out the smelt actually disappeared. The bathroom was pretty big, everything clean, but the water didn´t wan´t to get away from the shower (too slow). Quality of sleeping - average, there was some kind of in the village, so the music was really loud, apart from that the walls were very thin and you could hear the laughing/voices from your neighbors. There´re not a lot of placed to have a dinner around, so we just decided to have it in the proper hotel (they have a restaurant down), the dinner was pretty nice, delicious food and very helpful stuff. The Hotel in general is OK for a short stay while visiting central Spain.…
