We can recommend Caracal lodge as a place where you go to just unwind, relax and be close to nature. We stayed in Stone Circle. Highly recommended! Of all the cottages we liked this one the best, due to the privacy factor. Even when you sit outside by the firepit, it is so private! If you plan a romantic getaway, pick this one! Oh yes, no electricity, but we had everything we needed: hot water, gas refrigerator/fridge, gas stove, LED lights and lanterns. The quality of the mattress and linen are exquisite! The best rest we had in a long time!

My husband and I had such a lovely weekend, we took the 4x4 route up the mountain, visited the waterfall and the caves. Beautiful scenery, beautiful wildlife.

Well maintained property, well equipped cottages, friendly owner and manager.

We will most definitely be back!

We stayed at Magtree Lodge, a beautiful thatched cottage with it's own braai area. We loved the quiet seclusion, and Rob's excellent service. The fact that it's completely off-grid was actually fun, because you have sufficient lighting at night, the gas hob is great for cooking and there's plenty of piping hot gas-heated water for showering etc. The queen bed is very comfortable with spotlessly clean bedding. On hot nights, the thatch keeps the cottage relatively cool, and you can have the windows wide open all night because of the mosquito net. I would recommend a good led headlamp or similar if you want to read at night, and for braaing of course. The walks on the game farm are lovely, and the impalas and curious giraffes were constant companions that come quite close to the cottage. What a lovely place - the two of us and our dog can't wait to visit again!

Caracal Lodge is nestled in the Lowveld mountains and brings with it tranquility and a sense of escape from the rat race. The owners are incredibly hospitable and welcoming and anything we asked for was never too much trouble. Watching the game and playing with the rescue dogs was a bonus! The cottages have great amenities with comfortable beds. I can highly recommend Magtree Lodge with no electricity and lots of privacy. The communal honesty bar and entertainment area was excellent fun too.

We only had one night here as a stopover but everything was lovely - the hosts were welcoming and extremely helpful as we had a problem with our hire car and they did everything they could to assist us. The cottage was well fitted out and very comfortable and the lodge is very peaceful. Who wouldn't want to wake up and see a giraffe outside the room?

Caracal Lodge is situated within a beautiful nature area and offers stunning nature walks and a fun 4x4 trail. We stayed at Magtree Cottage, which was perfect for my husband and me and our three dogs, as it is private, fully fenced in and the furthest away from any other buildings and human activity. We loved the sound of flowing water from the nearby river and the abundant birdlife in the area. A special treat were the visits by the local wildlife, including giraffe, zebra, impala, ostriches and others. The outside braai area is very cozy and is the inside fireplace. We all had a very relaxing and refreshing break in this beautiful place in the bush.

Thank you Rob, we had a lovely stay, it was peaceful, and the nature's view from either the back or front of the cabin was peaceful. To view giraffes, zebra and other wild animals from the cabin was awesome. Will stay there again.

Arriving here after 10 hours on the road, including a border crossing and covid schlep, we could not have wished for something better. Tucked away in the bush with a mountainous backdrop the cottage had a firm bed, romantic bathroom, well-equipped kitchen, and barbecue with stacks of wood. We woke the next morning rejuvenated and with a new "hidden gem" in our travel logbook. This is not meant for people who expect hotel-style accommodation - we enjoyed being on our own, making our own dinner, drinking the last of our wine, and generally closing off our holiday in an appropriate manner. Long live the silence and the wilds when people like this are willing to share!

If you want to get away from the world and be in a peace of heaven this is the place! WE stayed at Fig Tree lodge, an off the grid chalet with gas and led lights, we took a hike to the waterfall and bumped into Kudu, Zebra, Impala and Giraffe, it was mind blowing to be back to basics and in nature, the best part is that it is pet friendly and we took our baby with, she was in her element, Thank you Craig for being an excellent host! WE will definitely be back!!!!!!!!!!!!

My dearest husband surprised me with a birthday get away.We booked into Caracal Lodge on the Friday, to leave Sunday. Our cottage was called Figtree, a beautiful old fig tree located at the entrance to the cottage.
Well equipped, neat and clean with gas geysers for hot water and lights via LED. A braai area with splash pool that over looks the bush, what more can one want. The nights were alive with crickets, frogs etc, walks to the waterfall beautiful, game here and there watching your every move.
A most relaxing weekend , even though we got rained out, power out, through out the valley, so we did not get to watch our SA RUGBY match. We loved the stillness, the noises of crickets etc, the stars. Jerry the tame Giraffe with his friend a black and white goat.
A must to get away and enjoy what God created for all to enjoy and give thanks too.
regards Hilton and Barbara

The unit was clean and pleasant and cleaned daily. There was complete privacy without being isolated. Was great to see the giraffe, zebra and game on the farm. The host was welcoming and helpful. The outside shower is a wonderful addition. A great stay and worth the trip to Nelspruit and cost of the accomodation.

"I do not think there is any cottage that will disappoint. If you want privacy choose Magtree, Figtree or the new Stone circle cottage - they do not have electricity - but there is no `roughing it`, you have enough LED lights and lanterns at the cottages. All are beautifully furnished"
