Caracal Lodge is a 300 ha game lodge with 5 luxury self catering cottages each with their own individuality. 3 of the cottages are in the bush and very romantic and private. We do game drives and have magnificent hikes to visit our beautiful waterfalls and small caves. Our mountain drive has magnificent views where at the same time you can have a real 4x4 experience and see our wildlife and birds.

Beautiful & clean hiking trails. The only negative point was - we wish there were more trails to explore! Stone Circle was beautiful, clean and comfy, loved the fireplace with comfortable sofa ;). We enjoyed the pic's daily visit to our chalet.

Beautiful cottages, fenced-in for pets. Giraffes and other animals literally on your doorstep! Not even the rainy weather could spoil our trip. Craig was so helpful and really went out of his way to make us feel at home! Will most definitely be back!

We absolutely loved Caracal lodge. We stayed in one of their bush cottages which was stunning. 🤩 Maintenance with regards to the wooden stacking doors and the wooden deck is needed but we would definitely go back to the same cottage, we loved the place and the beautiful braai area. There were also beautiful hiking trails which we loved exploring during our short stay.

Lovely quiet stay. Clean well maintained cottage. (We stayed in Bushbuck). Lovely hike to the waterfall and our Jack Russel had a blast over the weekend! Bird life is amazing and wildlife plentiful. Looking forward to returning back soon.

We only had one night here as a stopover but everything was lovely - the hosts were welcoming and extremely helpful as we had a problem with our hire car and they did everything they could to assist us. The cottage was well fitted out and very comfortable and the lodge is very peaceful. Who wouldn't want to wake up and see a giraffe outside the room?

We had the best time at Characal Lodge. stayed in Impala Cottage. Kitchen and braai area equipped with everything you need. Beautiful views from the deck of the cabin. Loved the hiking paths and the small adventure path to the caves. Rob was the perfect host. We will definitely return.

We stayed at Fig Tree Cottage during April 2022. The Cottage was old. The place was wet inside when it rained in the evening because of grass roof that was leaking in at sliding door. There was only cold and dirty water therefor we did not bath or shower.

Hi Naomi, Apologies for the late response but I've been battling to log in to Trip Advisor. I apologies for your bad experience on your 1 night stay. If you recall there was a heavy storm on the evening of your arrival. You informed Rob the next morning on your way out and we have noted your comments and attended to the problems.. Our water to all our cottages is supplied via large pipe from mountain spring and unfortunately the pipe sometimes gets blocked during a heavy downpour of rain hence the weak flow. Your cottage has a gas geyser but if there is no flow of water it will not activate. Apologies once again for the inconvenience. Kind Regards Donald

Caracal Lodge is nestled in the Lowveld mountains and brings with it tranquility and a sense of escape from the rat race. The owners are incredibly hospitable and welcoming and anything we asked for was never too much trouble. Watching the game and playing with the rescue dogs was a bonus! The cottages have great amenities with comfortable beds. I can highly recommend Magtree Lodge with no electricity and lots of privacy. The communal honesty bar and entertainment area was excellent fun too.
