i stayed at the Clive and Curzon with my sister and we had wonderful time. the place is so beautiful and peaceful, with wonderful views across the valley. they have their own tea plantation and we drank green tea every day. We had lovely food and my sister was converted to southern Indian cooking as I was. Delicious! We were favourably impressed by the cleanliness and decor. Vithal Rajan the host is also a prolific writer and his books are available to read, very amusing and making serious points too. We went on several outings including a visit to Chamraj tea estate and to a tiger reserve. whist we did not see any big cats we saw alto fo other wild life. Just Great.
I had been there along with my family & friend. The place has an excellent view in the lap of nature, friendly staff with clean & calm ambience. It’s a place where u can just relax & rejuvenate. Awesome.
Spent a lovely weekend at this quaint bunglow. The monsoon rains, lush green views, nippy air, cuppa of nilgiris tea - all made for an idyllic setting. If you are a bibliophile, then this place is your paradise. One can easily spend an hour or two admiring the vast collection of books evidently curated over generations. Classics, religion, politics, psychology, economics, humour - you'll find your gem. We were well looked after by Cecila who kept us well-fed with fresh home-made food. The house is tastefully done up and well maintained. Hopefully will go there again!
Excellent services and a great peaceful place with absolute calmness an extremely rejuvenating trip . The caretaker is an amazing woman. Tastefully done and cared for. So happy to visit!excellent food.enjoyed every moment of stay. A great place to re visit again and again.
If you want to unwind this is the place for it. Spotless bathroom, dining hall with a fire place ,which is lit on request. Views around the property are magnificent even though our room didn't have one! Celia and prabhu are pleasant and made sure that we were comfortable. Air was crisp and an evening walk was divine. Only the down side is food. Breakfast spread was limited to uppma, juice , bread. The jam served was stale and sticking to the bottom of the jar which was replaced when pointed out. Was served a coffee in the morning made with milk powder , had to ask for one with fresh milk. took one star because of food.
The property is beautiful.. Overlooking the Ketti valley. It is conveniently located only 2 kms from Ketti station.. And on the ooty/ coonoor road. Nice decor.. Interesting hospitable host. Only improvement suggested is the choice of foods. The options are too few and mundane. The food is prepared fresh though with ample quantity.
C&C or The Clive and Curzon is a home-stay boutique styled private stay in Ketti Valley about 2.5 Kms from the Ketti railway station. It has 3 rooms each for double occupancy with 1 extra bed option in each room. Adjacent to it is the private house of the owners. As C&C was full, I stayed in a room in the private bungalow. Review: (I took a good look at all rooms before leaving) Rooms – Banbury – In my opinion the most secluded and peaceful. Spacious and well lit. Tilling – Has two single beds, natural light is lesser than other room. Room size is smaller in comparison to others. Mayfair – Possibly the largest among 3, ample space to move around, located right behind the kitchen so can be noisy sometimes. All rooms are tastefully done up and toiletries are well supplied. Towel dryers and room heaters are provided in every room. Linen is mostly cotton and well well maintained. Apart from the 3 rooms, the C&C also has a living room with a book rack and the TV room for those who want some noise. The dining room has a table to accommodate upto 6 at a time and is a free space to mingle. The outer porch is best to sit and read or do nothing. Food services are good and staff is exceptionally courteous and well trained. C&C has a lot of spaces to soak in nature and enjoy the views. It’s far from the noise yet close to the tourist places like Ooty etc. Distances – Coonoor 20 minutes drive Ooty – 30 minutes drive Must do’s – I highly recommend the forest walk between c&C and Keti station. Its about an hour walk.…
At the start of this short trip with family, which could have been extended, had we the slightest clue that this hidden gem of a boutique home stay ( if I can call it that) would be such a warm and wonderful experience. We had booked the intriguingly named property on a friend’s recommendation and went with limited expectations, the property is wonderfully located in Ketti on top of a small hill and with unobstructed views of the mountains, the home is delightfully decorated and with lots of wood, with large rooms and even couple of fireplaces. The owners stay on the property in a separate unit and the Clive & Curzon has a total of three bedrooms, with a dining room and library with a TV room as well. All modern creature amenities included, except for fans and air conditioning which is really not needed but could be added for summer months. The food and services are great and we couldn’t fault it, we have already planned our next visit here, just hope we could have stayed longer in this trip itself and enjoy the great weather and hospitality of Clive and Curzon. Thanks …
The property is located in the Ketti Valley; has stunning views of the hills and tea plantations and has an extremely peaceful and relaxed vibe. The staff, especially Cecelia go out of their way to make you feel welcome. They're really warm and friendly and make sure you're comfortable and well taken care of. The food was delicious and the tea/coffee brought out each time you wanted it was really a treat. The spacious rooms right down to the crisp bed linen, fluffy towels and Kama Ayurveda toiletries made it really luxurious. Since we traveled as a family and booked all three rooms, we had the day rooms, dining room and front sitout all to ourselves which gave us so much more space to spend time together.
The real Coonoor exists. And thrives. It's a B & B that takes hospitality to yet another level. It's a holiday option that allows your eyes to soak in the clean green air of the unpolluted, uncrowded side of this oasis. Large, spacious and well appointed rooms. Privacy when you need it. A view that doesn't try to impress but just is. A kitchen that makes a home out of the house. And a reclusive aloofness that is just a few kilometers away from civilisation. A great place to just chill. An even greater place to come back to.
