#8 of 30 Speciality lodging in Kaziranga National Park
Agoratoli Resort, an ecotourism jungle lodge with a rustic charm, stands right on the edge of Kaziranga National Park. Far away from the maddening crowd, it overlooks the pristine Kaziranga landscape with seven dwelling units, a library, and a dining hall. Set up in 2011, this is the first and only private resort in this part of Kaziranga. The primary focus of the resort is on wildlife conservation and responsible tourism. Furthermore, empowering the local community through participation is the defining characteristics of the resort. Consequently, this place has evolved into being the ecotourism hub of Kaziranga welcoming wildlife enthusiasts from all across the globe. The design of this resort is a reflection of minimalism and the use of sustainable resources and in sync with the surroundings. The architecture is pure Assamese, crafted by local artisans using local materials. A blend of bamboo, thatched roofs & mud creates the most minimal yet cozy and aesthetically pleasing ambianc

Stayed there for three nights and had an awesome time! We enjoyed dinners, the amazing safaris and waterfall trek, and general ambience as we accompanied, lizards, spiders, bugs and some very cute cats in the place. If you go in with your eyes open to the fact you're staying very close to national park and for a good value rate - then you will have a great time. Would certainly recommend Monty for the safari, he spotted rhinos that other guides didnt, and also showed us his 'silent gun'. Two seemed to be enough. Pros - very friendly staff - Jadumani, Monty in particular. Food was good - if not a little samey (fish was full of bones, but tasty) Good value No frills - no TVs or anything flexible packages Cons - powercuts, means charging can be difficult hot showers were an issue for us

In between the restaurant and a couple of the bungalows there is a ditch. This is full of plastic and rubbish. It is on the property, so they can't blame the neighbours. When I pointed it out, the staff disappeared into the kitchen. Incompetent management means incompetent staff. That said we enjoyed visiting Kaziranga park, which is a bit like a zoo really, since the animals are fenced in and have to take refuge on small blocks of raised ground during flooding, sometimes for a month...those that don't drown of course. That may explain that when we went to the central range there was hardly any wildlife. The rice paddies go right up to the park fence at Agoratoli range and access to the hills is cut off. Anyway...in other parts in India they are doing well taking care of their parks and they are a pleasure to visit. It was distressing to visit Kaziranga and imagine so many animals drowning...which they do...look it up online if you don't believe me.

We made our booking in Agoratoli Eco Tourism Resort, after checking your reviews. Booking dates were from 20th Dec 2019 to 24th Dec 2019. These bookings were confirmed and 50% advance was paid in October 2019 (INR 10,500/-). Unfortunately there were issues during the booking period where we heard clashes and curfew in Assam/Guwahati due to developments and changes our Government announced. Our flights were booked with Indigo and Spicejet for this holiday. Apparently, we had to cancel our entire holiday since there were lot of tensions and Guwahati airport were closed. These aircraft carriers, considering this situation, gave us a full refund of the booking amount with no cancellations charges. We appraised this situation to the contact person of Agoratoli resort via telephone followed by an email. This discussion between us and Agoratoli started around 12/13th December. Initially, we were asked to wait for a couple of more days and see if things settle down, else it they remain the same, then Agoratoli's management will consider the refund. Since then, its been more than a month and we are still struggling our way out, for this refund. Everytime we speak, Agoratoli has come back to us saying - that they will keep this money with them for our future visit. We are not intending to plan our visit anytime soon and that we do not want this money to be stuck on our ambiguous future plans. This was very clearly communicated to this resort. They eventually asked us for our bank account details on 7th Jan. 2020. Again, since then, we are waiting for this refund to be processed from their side. Agoratoli has now stopped answering our phones and are absconding. Multiple mails were sent with bold subject lines in regards to this pending issue on refunding our money. Nothing seems to be working.

We stayed here in December. It's a small neat place with all the basic facilities and very sweet people. The food is traditional home cooked Assamese good. It's very close to the Eastern range of kaziranga. It's surrounded by farm lands and u rise to the sounds of hens. The central and Western range is bit far. We loved the simplicity and the people at this place. They also arranged for all our Safari's and we're happy to encourage us.

Agoratoli Eco Tourism Resort is strictly for wildlife enthusiasts. It is simple, clean, neat and very likable. The location is a stunner. It is in the eastern range and all safaris in the eastern range are designed for those who love birds and small mammals. The rooms are clean, the food is typical Assamese, there is 24/7 hot water and RO drinking water. Bhaskar and Kalita are hands-on and they try to do their best. No room service. No TVs. No Newspapers. But I loved Agoratoli and its location. If you are a birder / photographer, this is a good base.
