Its probably one of the best place to stay in Tawang, its very close to Monastery but little far from town center (We still manage to walk, so not that far).
They have decent rooms with heater (which is a must). They have a restaurant and they serve food in room as well, one needs to order 20-30 mins in advance, they are prompt to call and remind you for that :)
They have generator which they run from 6:30 am to late night, as there are very frequent power cuts, this facility also is very essential.
They do have WiFi but range is very limited and does not work in rooms in lower floors.
They do not accept credit cards so need to carry cash for payments, (Tawang town center has 3-4 ATMs)
Staff is helpful and courteous.

I recently visited Tawang..Me, my husband, my father and my brother ..all of us stayed in this Hotel which was suggested and booked by an uncle of mine.. Like he said ..there were not many options available in Tawang..so I didn't try to look for another one ..we reached around 3:30..we were given one suite room and a business room..the rooms were average, of course suites were little better than the business rooms.. and thankfully the heater was there and in working conditions..otherwise it wise freezing outside that night due to snow..this place is close to the monastery..food was average..we had simple Indian food..and yes they couldn't keep up with their own timing and served dinner quite late...the people at the reception were not so welcoming...so overall an average experience..

This the the best available hotel in Tawang, absolutely on the hilltop with a clear view of the Tawang Monastery. Rooms are clean with all required facilities and a LCD TVs. You get Room heaters also. Food in good, specially Indian food. If you ask me to find out a drawback then probalbly it would be, that the hotel I believe do not have lift and if your rooms are in the distant floors there may be an issue. Also the hotel is in a serene locality and bit away from the market (1 km). But in TAwang, u shud always try for this hotel and this hotel is unbelievably cheap.

Room Tip: The hotel starts at 4 th floor and goes downward. Try and take rooms in 3rd floor.

I got lured by pictures of its fancy decor on the website of this hotel. Check-in was smooth and the rooms alloted offered view of the Tawang Monastery.
Soon after, we realised that we were sharing the floor with really loud and ill-mannered guests. Repeated complaints to the reception went unheard. Apparently, these guests were there for 5days and the hotel dint want to loose business. The owner instead told us to leave the hotel. That we did. He then threatened us by saying that he would ensure that we got no place to stay in Tawang! Too bad, not everyone is a loser like him coz we got a fabulous guest house in the middle of the market.

Hotel GKZ is situated quite far from the market. Which means that one is restricted for food options. Their restaurant menu is overpriced and the food is horrible. We were billed for things we did not even order! The owner even threw a fit for this.

Booked the hotel from guwahati and was confirmed...but when we reached, no rooms in our names were kept. Luckily they had available rooms. The reception guy 'Pabitra' his name, was very arrogant and rude. Had a bit of argument too.
Hot water..kept waiting for hours to get.
No electricity, generator out of order.
Wifi only at the restaurant.
Cook was on leave for some festival, so no food was available during lunch hours.

Tawang has natural beauty and this hotel is no exception. Built on top of a small mountain, it gives you a perfect view of the monestary. Do not expect too much service or quality. It is a decent ,clean hotel and within budget. Food is okay..avoid continental food and stick more reliable indian food. No shops nearby..so carry plenty of daily needs if you want. The rooms in the ground floor are not good. Service takes time and it makes sense to plan early. Check in and Check out is not efficient..but you don't expect business like service at 18000 feet above sea level. The staff is helpful..but speak slowly and clearly. There is parking and place for drivers to stay as well. Winters can be cold as well..so carry plenty of warm clothes. Owned by a local politician..if you are staying at Tawang then this is the place.

After a tiring journey we reached Tawang at 7pm almost half frozen, got down from the car and two to three person just ushered into the reception area. Seeing my kid shivering, the front desk people just instucted a friendly guy to lead us to our room. Room heaters were already on,warm water, clean beds with warm and inviting quilts were awaiting!! Bathrooms are clean!! Guys of GKZ are friendly n very helpful!! food is good too!! Front desk guys helped by giving many tips for local sight seeing since we took our own vehicle.Service is good!!!

we are a family of four from Chennai.Though we planned our trip to Tawang quite early, we could not book accommodation in advance. But when we landed in Tawang on 23.5.2012 we went staraight to this hotel and were lucky to get a deluxe room (203). We had a stunning view of the famous monastery through the window. Cleanliness is given lot of importance. Food was good; so was the room service. We went to the local market and the monastery on foot. We stayed for three days. It was a nice experience.

We traveled in a group of 8 and took 3 standard room and a suit. I must say I was not expecting this quality in Tawang. All rooms are equipped with 32 inch Sony Braiva LCD TV and a very good Room Heater. Very comfortable rooms and very reasonably priced. Quality of food is very good compared to a remote place like Tawang. Suit room has wooden paneling adding to its appeal. You have have a good view of Tawang Monastery from the hotel lobby ( may not be from the room itself. Service is quite prompt and efficient.

Hi..I had a bad experience. I did not like the ambience and rooms. The rooms are dark...and unnecessarily expensive. Even I did not stay at hotel & they did not refund the advance which I have sent to them from Kolkata thru RTGS. The staffs are not professional and not fit to handle customers.
