I was attracted to this hostel because of the cheap rates and I wasn't expecting luxury given said cheap rates. However, the quality of this hostel falls way below what you pay for. When we arrived the sheets were covered in dead bugs and the wall was plastered with animal droppings. The food at the restaurant was served cold and... More

The worst Hostel ever! The room is very dirty : spider webs covering the entire ceiling, the sheets were not clean and the shared bathroom were also not very clean. If you don't have a lot of money and you can't eat all the days at the restaurant, you have to know that you have to pay to use the... More

If you're looking for a place where you can take it easy, this is the place to stay. I ended up staying here for almost three weeks. They cook good food and offer free kayaks and rent bikes. The beach is close by and the water is clean and warm. Overall a very good place with friendly staff that speaks... More

Stayed here for three nights and really enjoyed Ometepe. This hotel is located in a less touristy spot, but it is beautiful. They have nice beach where you can see monkeys and watch beautiful sunsets. Taking out their free kayaks is a highly recommended activity. We paid $15 for a private room and bathroom. The room and bathroom were clean,... More

I stayed here for 5 nights Dec 2012 and I was really satisfied. Staff was the best ever during my trip. I never experienced hospitality or friendliness like this in Costa Rica or Panama. I hope you guys get a paved road from Santa Cruz to Mérida in the future. There's a lot of potential in this area.

A definite must for those who enjoy a laid back, comfortable vacation with a wonderful family looking after you. This out of the way place on the island of Ometepe offers fresh local cuisine, clean comfy rooms, beautiful natural surroundings close to the waters edge and monkeys, of course! Grab a kayak(free) and paddle out to see the monkeys on... More

Okay > previous reviews are not trust worthy for this place. "Monkey's" is striaght-up bananas. I had the worst sleep here - there's one communal roof for all the rooms - whether private or not. - the food is mediocre. There is certainly better traditional food on this island so don't expect it to be good. - staff was friendly... More

We paid very little for our room, around $15 a night for a private and the food was very decently priced. In the end you get what you pay for, we didn't pay a lot so didn't expect a lot from Monkey's Island. The staff were very friendly, the food was good for what you pay, and the rooms are... More

We chose it because of the wonderful reviews that we read online and on here. We honestly do not know who stayed here before and had reviewed it well, because it was the most disappointing and upsetting experience we have had in Central America. On arrival, we met the guy who ran it, the first thing he did was to... More

Clean and comfortable rooms, an extremely friendly and attentve staff, lovely views (of the lake and, with a 20 second walk, both volcanoes), a tranquil swimming beach on site, and delicious food. Several activities to keep us busy (swimming, Kayaking to a monkey inhabited island, hiking to the breathtaking waterfalls, and just chillaxing in the hammocks). We loved supporting this... More
