I been here to have a relax holiday and I just found what I was looking for.. The place is extremely quiet, just nature's sounds and the most amazing view you can image.. And you have that both from your room and from the swimming pool.. I can't suggest this place to who is looking for a party place, but I strongly suggest it to all the people who are looking for relax and peaceful in the middle of the Tuscany's nature..

We stayed here at this rustic hideaway with a group of friends. We had an amazing experience...beautiful setting, amazing scenery, good pool, very friendly and helpful staff and a breakfast with one of the best views in the world. We had a truly memorable time and would definitely come back.

This is a rustic getaway in the mountains. You will feel like you have gone back in time. Eat a good breakfast (eggs, cheese, bruchetta etc.) outside overlooking the beautiful mountains and valleys. Staff very friendly, pool is nice. Room was comfy, no AC but private. There is an on-site "restaurant" down the hill, so you can get a plate of pasta, local wine, rustic, simple, primitive, ok in a pinch. People hang out here till all hours of the night drinking and laughing. Just note that it is 40k north of Lucca, you have to be willing to drive aways to get anywhere. GPS confused as there are 2 "Casoli" ("CASSS-oli) sites, stay on Rt 12 and bear right toward Abetone. Get good maps! At Agrilago (on your right), you have to drive over a little stone bridge and up a 2k driveway with hairpin turns, honking your horn as you can't see around them, fun if you are into it. The biggie though is this, and, it is IMPORTANT: your car will be parked WAY down a series of hills. They will drive you and your luggage up to your room with a golf cart, after that you are on your own. If you drive anywhere, to get to your room each day after you park, you climb a series of rutted, rocky, primitive paths, for 10-15 minutes. It is steep. I mean it!! I am in shape, hike, walk alot, etc, so ok. If you are elderly, have a physical disability, are lazy, expect plush service or infirm, this is NOT the place for you. If you want exercise, fresh air, you will be rewarded with truly astounding, beautiful views of hill, valleys and nature. A good place to hike, relax, commune with nature. Remember, you will not be near anything. Drive back down to Bagni Di Lucca (12K) for eats, gelato, etc. Can do day trips to Cinque Terre, Pisa, etc. The drive to the Grotto del Vento is harrowing, very narrow roads at times, many steep hairpins, first gear, not for the faint of heart but rewarding views and the "grotto" -cave is very nice, beautiful. Went to the thermal baths (Bagni), 20 euro per to get steamed in a small cave (insanely hot, but what do you expect), wrapped in a blanket and given tea. Relaxing. I would go back but might consider another Agriturismo where the terrain is a little flatter and closer to the action. Ciao

Wow, what a place! We stayed at Agrilago with another family who we were traveling with (9 people total) for 3 nights in July, 2008. It is located in Casoli, a very tiny town in the mountains near Bagni di Lucca, Italy. We stayed in their "farmhouse" which really looked like a castle. They also had bed and breakfast type accomodations available. The experience was just awesome! Once you turn off the main road from Bagni di Lucca, you are on a winding, one lane road up to Casoli. You can't drive through the little town, it has pedestrian paths only, so when you arrive, you park at the entrance and call Maria to send the golf cart for your luggage. Then you start the 400 meter hike UP to Agrilago. You have the most beautiful views from the farmhouse and from the breakfast area (another hike to get there.) The breakfast was delicious and included homemade jams and jellies. We went to Pisa and Florence for a day and spent our last day lounging by the pool enjoying the view. The nearest grocery and restaurants are about 30 minutes drive away, so we did our shopping on our way and cooked dinner in the little kitchen. There is a very small bar/store with very limited supplies at the entrance to Casoli. I would not recommend this place for anyone who has a hard time walking since there is no choice but to walk up and down hill a lot! As far as accommodations went, it is an agritourism place, so the towels and sheets did not get changed during our 3 nights, and there were no toiletries provided (soap, etc.). The staff was awesome, the beds were comfy, the kitchen was adequate, and the views were phenomenal! We would definitely stay here again!
