Nestled in a serene natural setting, Dharana at Shillim is lauded for its professional service and warm ambience, though some guests suggest a need for updates in villa interiors. While the cleanliness of its villas and infinity pool earns high marks, opinions on room maintenance and comfort vary.
The hotel's wellness activities and organic farm are popular, but the dining options may disappoint some. Although the overall value proposition receives mixed reviews, many visitors appreciate the tranquil atmosphere and diverse amenities.

Detailed Reviews
First weekend trip in a covid world, expected a little more hospitality. Resort does not give proper road directions when clearly a slightly longer route to reach the highway is a better one. Early check in call was met with a rude "we will see when you arrive." Upgrade option booked on Hilton honors was not even mentioned during check in. Rooms were largely clean but I am not sure of the Nano cars used to transport guests as I saw people getting in and out with no sanitation procedure in between.
Food options are very limited. Room service for lunch was reasonably quick with expected time to serve told upfront. Breakfast and Dinner we had at Terrazzo, the only restaurant open. No special effort for Diwali weekend but overall decent taste of a la carte meals.
Coming to the most disappointing part of the trip is that they advertise a couple of guided tours around the property but don't mention that kids are not allowed. When asked if they can do something shorter and customised the answer from the front desk was an outright NO. Given that swimming pool and play areas are shut, some better planning in designing age appropriate outdoor activities doesn't hurt. So we were left to walk around this expansive property on our own with some guidance from their helpful Nano drivers.
Other small nuisance toiletries are only provided for a day when there is clearly no scheduled housekeeping for a 2 day stay. Housekeeping staff didn't wear gloves when setting an extra bed, nor did the parking valet.

Pictures will not make this review enough ( so I’m posting the ones Ive taken that I didn’t like much). This is our 2nd visit and except for the govt. road to the property, there is nothing that they can do wrong. The staff is so pleasing and welcoming. We threw a few tantrums when we felt we needed to keep things in check, but they lived upto to it and took it positively & improved immediately! Now that’s what I really liked. I would like to thank “all” (difficult to remember all names) of the catering and service staff for making our stay a pleasurable one. Secondly, the activity team is amazing. Pratik was our guide for the Shilimb Peak trek and he was amazing. You must do this trek of 1.5 hrs only - u will understand why only after doing it so will not spoil the icing. ( I plan to the 5 hour trek next time). Their Spa is operational with basic 3 massages due to COVID. There is COVID Antigen test procedure prior spa (chargeable to client@ 1200 INR or so). It is supposed to be one of the best but I have not tried their treatments here because of undue stress for such tests and the cost of Spa @about 7500 INR.

We stayed in the King Deluxe Valley Villa and it was well spacey and neat.
They just need to upgrade their Nano’s which are now at a stage of extinction.

We went there for 3 nights in January 2021 for our anniversary and the hotel was extremely clean and sanitised and everyone was wearing masks at all time. We booked the forest view king villa...
Only breakfast was included, and they had a set menu for breakfast from which you can order. Everything was to die for. The chefs handling Indian and continental section both were extremely good.
We booked for our anniversary dinner which came with a beautiful place setting with complimentary drinks and cake.. It was taken care of so perfectly. We loved it.
We went for the forest walk also, very delightful experience and went to visit the farm also. My kid was super excited to meet the horses and the house cat.
All in all a very good and pleasant stay apart from the last 10 kms of road leading to the resort everything was perfectly fine. That road is extremely bad, its better to take the longer route through Pawna Lake side.

While the property is nice and well designed, there is very little effort the team running the hotel puts in taking care of the guests. Our "Villa - 501" as they call them was not maintained at all - Dust spewing out of the AirCon duct. The key card slot required to start power in room is loose - needs additional paper to be stuffed to make it work. The drawer next to side table does not shut and stays open. No charging point on one side of the bed. No Spa menu in the room had to wait for 2 hours to get one and the one that came was without prices. Empty mini bar. No Shower Cap.
One our 1st day of lunch we got pieces of aluminium foil in our salad. When we pointed out the salad was changed but was still charged.
The only thing this property has got right is the Premium Price it charges on food and drinks.
Our stay was disappointing at best.

Planned a short getaway with the wife so thought that this might be a good option, clearly I was wrong.
We stayed here on the just before the valentines weekend in one of their better rooms, I believe it’s called the dharna villa with a private pool which was really nice. For 2 people the pool was a decent size.
The property did seem nice at first but it all goes downhill when it comes to service. It’s not like the standards are poor, it’s more like there are no standards. The hotel’s operational infrastructure is really struggling to keep up with the job at hand. The buggies/ cars used to ferry guests take in excess of 30 minutes to respond to any request, it took a person more than 45-50 minutes of waiting I. The lobby before he got any kind of transport to the room.
Moving on the attitude of the staff is horrible, it’s like the don’t care at all which seems more of a management problem / lack of supervision/ lack of training. We even called the hotel to book a spa appointment before we got there which they couldn’t manage to do either nor could they provide a reason as to why they couldn’t do the same.
I was told a team member would call me back by a person called “Aneesh phadtare” at the reception on the 13th of feb (not sure if I spelt that correctly) who even failed to / refused to connect me with his superior either ways no team member cared to call back after promising the same. When I card back a person called Sagar the. Told me they are on it and I will hear back from them shortly, that did not happen either.
Im not one to write reviews & the only reason Iv chooses to is because i hope that the management steps up and does something about this, cause truth be told it does seem like a lot of effort, love and labour has gone into creating this property & this should not be the state of affairs.
In meanwhile my advise people would be to stick to the taj or Oberoi because this would / has never happen / happened there.
Ps - it would’ve been nice to have all the blinders in the room on an automatic mechanism so you don’t need to get out of bed when they need to be shut.

Dear anandm2014, Namaskar, We'd like to thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. Each comment means an opportunity for improvement to us on the way to excellence. At Dharana Shillim with regards to internal transfers we encourage our guests to walk through the paths flanked by nature's best as it is the best way to experience Shillim. We do have eco-friendly small cars for internal movement as an alternative. This is also to accommodate the elderly and differently-abled guests. With regards to spa slots, as we are a wellness retreat therapies form an integral part of wellness packages, so the guests who have not opted themselves for the wellness package have to book the slots well in advance at Dharana Shillim. We apologize for the inconvenience caused due to slow service; our management has been notified and is working towards avoiding future situations like this one. Warm Regards, Srikant Peri General Manager | Hilton Shillim Estate Retreat & Spa.

Beautiful widespread property with amazing friendly, helpful, smiling staff (inc Yoga instructor, restaurant staff, horticulturist at the herb garden, special mention for security staff.)
They have 20 Nano cars driving around the property 24x7 for assisting the long distances from one venue to other, in case you the environment doesn't pursue you to take those extra steps.
They have 4 outlets with great views, breakfast menu is nice. The food pricing otherwise is extremely expensive for the choices they offer.
A lot of paid and complimentary activities to keep you occupied throughout the day. Ask around at the yoga center and kitchen garden to know more. Though they have an activity desk but I guess there is a lot of room for improvement how they sell their services.
A small suggestion for the hotel- we did an amazing 45 min full moon meditation session by the pond. I understand the activity was complimentary but there were some guests who joined us 20 mins post session started. They were very noisy while they joined which completely ruined the meditation state, which overall disturbed the whole session. I strongly suggest that no one should be allowed to join the session mid way as discipline and punctuality are important and everyone who is sensible to those shouldn't be suffering for those who aren't.
Overall great experience with very peaceful surroundings and great staff. They have a separate kids free zone and pool too :)

I have booked this hotel on 2nd december , 2020 . We have booked 4 Valley View rooms with 8 Adults . Called in the hotel on 1st December 2020 , Because there were several occasions in our family and Spoke with DEBA - The so called duty manager from Guest relations , Spoke to her And she asked me that they can keep a Birthday cake in my room with little decor and stuff .
It started with the day when it took almost 90 minutes to reach from Lonavla and the roads were too scary , In case of any emergency , it is a Tough job to get down from the hotel . location was too worst . Roads are too dangerous to reach the hotel
Ended up reaching the hotel at 5pm since we did not expect that it will waste so much time since roads to reach the hotel were worse.
It took 1 hour to check in and reach the room .
Took 30 mins since they called up the car and they were operating minimum .
Without their Cars , U can’t even see the hotel it’s so huge and the car service is worst ! Even from your villa till restaurant it takes 15 mins for driver to reach your villa after you call them up at the reception.
There was no cake placed in the room without any decor
My kids were hungry at 10.30 in the night , I called up the restaurant terrazzo and ordered a meal , They said the restaurant is closed and they cannot cook a meal . I requested them very much and they denied .
You have to sleep hungry in case You feel hungry after 10.30 pm like I did !
Staff and the duty managers were very rude in talking
I’m very much dissatisfied and dissapointed with the services of this hotel .
I have paid 20k x4 rooms = 80k and I don’t think this hotel deserves that much for the services they are providing .
Will never ever book them again .

We had booked stay for 3 Deluxe King valley villa rooms & 3 nights in Hilton Shillim estate retreat & spa.
Upon check in we were welcomed by front desk staff Ani for the smooth check in process, she was courteous and handed over our room keys in envelope to us and briefed everything about the property at front desk.
Nano cars were called at front desk and we were taken to our room in no time.
We were so much thrilled to see the pictures of views from rooms on their website/Online forum. Our all rooms had almost same valley views from the room, we loved it.
Rooms were clean and big. Bed and pillows were comfortable meanwhile. Bathrooms were good enough, bathroom amenities were up to the mark.
Housekeeping staff Mr Umesh & Mr Omkar was very courteous and provided us each and every amenity delivered on time. He was very polite and ready to help us at any given time.
In our meal plan daily breakfast was included which was served at Terrazzo restaurant..
Ms. Priya helped us finding table of our choice each time we were at restaurant for food.
Staff is always enthu here to help and make you most comfortable in Terrazzo restaurant. We found breakfast spread was limited though it was delicious, Staff knew we were not happy with spread and in a no time f&b manager Ninad thakur & Mr. Sanket listened our concerns and served us the things which we wanted.
Restaurant staff Mr. Sarvesh & Abhishek were courteous too. Both made sure hot meals were served to our table every time.
What I mostly loved about their food preparation is that they don’t use sugar in any form of cooking, you’ll get jaggery powder everywhere instead of sugar on your table.
We did our most of the dinners at Mountain bar & grill. Pizzas at mountain bar grill were delicious. Chef Jay Prajapati was exceptional and served us hot and fresh food, if you want to get better hospitality at this resort’s restaurant you must contact him. He is very polite and has a wide knowledge of food he is serving.
We found Nano car service was on point and on time during our stay ne it anywhere in the property. The cars were used to reach us in maximum 5 minutes. Which was superb.
Activity team staff Mr Pratik and Mr Ashish were on the point, they knew everything about the forest and nature around the property. We did shillim peak trek and lake view trek with both of them which were amazing and spectacular.
Mr Sunil at organic farm had a vast knowledge of plants he was growing in farm. He was polite and he knew my mom liked their Mint plants so much that he packed 3/4 saplings for us while we were checking out from the property. It was lovely gesture from him.
Thank you whole staff of Hilton shillim for making our family holiday much more memorable.

This was my 4th visit to Hilton Shillim and this time we stayed for 3 nights. It was just brilliant. It keeps getting better every stay. I love their Pool Villa, it's very spacious and private. The pool is big enough to swim unlike plunge pools which are small. I love the food in Hilton Shillim. It's very tasty and delicious. Even more I love their staff and service who work hard to make your stay memorable. They are excellent at their service.
I must say this property is very safe and sound during covid-19 times. Everybody is wearing mask properly and they take utmost care about cleanliness. Since the resort is big enough to walk around and not worry to meet anyone close, it's the best place during covid-19 times. We were worried about our daughter since she is only one year old but when we reached there, everything was very well taken care of and we requested for breakfast in the room since we have an infant and they were very helpful to do that.
Huge thanks to Mr. Ameya for making my daughter's birthday special. Also to all other staff, Mr Naveen from F&B, Mr Dhanjit from House Keeping and all other staff, you'll have been excellent and keep up the great work.

The good:
The housekeeping staff were phenomenal and really worked hard to make sure our villa and pool area were always clean and sanitized. They went above and beyond during the morning cleaning service and the evening turndown service. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day we received some sweet baked goods, which was a lovely gesture. I am particularly impressed by the service provided by Lalit, Suyog (from housekeeping not Terrazzo), and Mithun from housekeeping. They were very responsive, brought us whatever we needed such as toiletries and plates and had specific areas of the room and pool areas cleaned every time we asked. Pool cleaning was prompt and it is lovely to see that pools in villas have finally been heated for the winter. At the Terrazzo restaurant, Arvind was very attentive with service during dinner each of the nights we stayed.
The bad:
The Terrazzo restaurant simply cannot handle the inflow of guests at this property with wait times exceeding 30-45 mins as early as 8:30! There have been no efforts to deal with the excess inflow of guests. The staff at Terrazzo led by Mr. Sujoy was particularly unhelpful, unprofessional, and downright impolite. Sujoy was also not wearing a mask or following COVID protocols when talking to me at a time when the omicron variant is on the rise. The staff made no efforts to encourage guest mask compliance at the hotel public areas and buffet areas. I had to remind him to wear a mask over his nose and mouth. If the Terrazzo restaurant and staff are simply unable to handle breakfast rush, the breakfast should be provided to the villas — especially for guests like us who stay in pool villas and have Hilton honors gold and diamond status. Only the forest and mountain villa guests should come to Terrazzo to make more space and deal with the rush. Or the hotel can consider 1) staggered time specific breakfast service or 2) utilize the Mountain Bistro and organic areas for breakfast. Clearly all hands need to be on deck. Even when we were seated, our table did not have glasses or bottles of water, salt and pepper shakers, and service was slow and inattetive. Many items never arrived and had to be reordered. When they did come, the items were wrong. I reached out to the property’s general manager Mr. Srikant Peri via LinkedIn and to his credit, Mr. Peri assured me that he would look into the issues I had brought up and thanked me for the feedback. In general, this has been the most unimpressive experience we have had in our five stays here and has put a dampener on our Christmas experience. Staff like Mr. Sujoy at Terrazzo also must undergo more training and compliance with COVID public health and safety protocols as mandated by the government and under law. The kitchen chefs and frontline servers need better coordination to get orders right and also serve them on time. A food and beverage manager must oversee the service.

This is a 5 star property. Do expect rates accordingly. It has expensive restaurants - all 3 of them.
Currently Due to Covid 19 pandemic, only guests staying at the property are allowed at the restaurant
Not sue if they are open now due to Covid restrictions. But they take good precautions.
