I live in the village and was very sad to see the former landlord leave recently although he still remains in the village happily. We went to try the new menu earlier this week after having been given a tasting by the new manager/executive chef on Friday evening. I had whipped goats cheese with textures of beetroot and my husband...

We enjoyed our stay but found not having an ensuite very awkward however the beds were comfortable and we had a lovely view. Good breakfasts but disappointed with the dinner menu. Easy parking and convenient venue.

Staying nearby for three days walking we used this hotel to grab something to eat at the end of our day. Good choice on the standard menu and a specials board that changed during our visits. Food was tasty and good value exactly what you need after a hike. Safe were great, nice warm welcomes and took time to chat...

Four of us stayed here while walking Hadrians Wall. It was the worst accommodation of all our overnight stays; a large crack in our bedroom wall, mould around the bath seal, faulty plumbing, broken toilet seat, etc, etc. The staff were miserable and the food was average. Not recommended.

A bit old;d fashioned and somewhat tired this place has its own character. Rooms are basic and in need of a refurb but the bar is friendly and the food is good home cooking. Homemade corn beef pie is great and you get a superb cooked breakfast. Rooms on the front of the building can be noisy with lorries crashing...

The best food on the entire Hadrians wall walk with the worst accommodation. All 9 of us had a Great evening meal and breakfast. The hotel has lovely staff but the decor is so tired its asleep. The downstairs toilets are nothing short of disgusting and the ensuite room needed re grouting and resealing. However comparing our joint stories kept us...

The food here is amazing - fresh, tasty, generous and really good quality. The bedrooms are tired, although clean my sheets had 2x cigarette burns, not ensuite but a shared bathroom with a dodgy light and a bolt that cut my thumb when I slid it. Blackened silicone in the shower and a pungent aroma of drains. The ladies loos...

Swung by with the wife last Saturday afternoon for some grub, we live local but this was our first visit, I'm confident that it won't be our last. First impressions are that of a cosy cottage inn, quest and with a comfortable and traditional (yet a little dated) dining aria. A good selection off food on the menu, your typical...

The room was clean and had a very big and comfy bed. The interior of the whole hotel is a little old- fashioned which fits perfekt with the house and the environment. The staff was very friendly and helpful. After a short- distance- walk you can find a piece of the Hadrian`s Wall and Hadrian`s Wall Path leads towards the...
