Hendrick and Sofia and their lovely family are the perfect hosts. They are available whenever needed, yet allow privacy and comfort to prevail. The rooms are clean and have views of the sea from the balconies. Their small restaurant attached to the hotel produces a nice variety of homemade choices prepared with flavor and care. The fresh fish caught the same day was amazingly moist and flavorful.

The room was clean and comfortable, the balcony did have a view of the sea but some cabins have been put up and obscure it slightly, however you can see and hear the ocean. Our hosts were very friendly and staff made sure our 10 year old daughter was made to feel safe, and looked after she was really spoilt. The food was amazing, we ate for most of our three week stay there, never had a bad meal and really enjoyed. We were made to feel part of the family and would return. Location is spot on what more can I say. Thank you mario paulo

Had a great stay here. Lovely big triple room to myself, a/c, fridge, balcony, TV, parking for my jeep. Beds were very comfortable, nice restaurant and bar. Located on the main road but still very quiet, had a super sleep, fully recommended 🥰

Great location, really pleasant and clean rooms, excellent food, amazing cooking, beautiful dish but the thing that makes this such a good place to stay are the staff. All of the people are incredibly helpful and generous, etiquette and elegant with their time and advice. This was one of the nicest places we stayed in the four days in agonda Beach. Thanks for making our visit to South goa that much better.

The family helped my wife and I during the super cyclone. The owner helped us move from a terrible night during the storm that almost killed us at the Agonda Paradise. The price was remarkably cheap with full restaurant and bar even during the storm. The room was wonderful and clean with balcony overlooking the beach. The Guest House is in the middle of the Beach area and extremely convenient. I highly recommend this place not only for a bargain but safe and comfortable!

Nice, family-run guesthouse. Both Hendrick and his wife Sophia are always there to help whatever you need. The entire staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is great - just a few steps from the beach. The food in the integrated resautrante is delicious. Our room was very spacious and has a large terrace with refrigerator. The bathroom is well equipped and everything works fine. The room as well as the rest of the guest house and restaurant is very clean. We felt very comfortable and will definitely come back. Many Thanks Petra

Definitely five stars! I was well cared for during my 8 day stay in January 2019. The staff was always kind and helpful (and yet unobtrusive). I enjoyed the other guests and I learned that many of them come back year after year. The Maria Paulo guesthouse has three floors and is clean and well kept. I stayed in Deluxe Room # 4 on the middle floor, with a balcony and small ocean view. I loved hearing the surf from my bed. In addition to my room’s private balcony, there is a shared balcony (where the Wi-Fi was better than in my room.) To be clear, my room was not “Holiday Inn” — my bathroom was worn and the toilet gurgled, etc. No problem for me. I loved the relaxed family feeling of the place. The family still lives on the ground floor. The Maria Paulo location is terrific. You can walk 2 minutes to the beach, 2 minutes to the village center (at St Anne’s church). It’s a 5 minute walk to most of the restaurants and yoga in town (walking along the beach or the street. I ate at their own Maria Paulo Restaurant on the ground floor patio at least once a day for 8 days. I always got exactly the meal I wanted. The staff is conscientious and considerate. I love the fresh fish tikka. The dining area does not open onto the beach, but instead it’s fun to watch people walking by on the street out front. Yes, I definitely give it five stars. I hope to return!

We travelled as a family with a 3 year old kid and booked the guest house for 10.5 K INR / night from December 26 to December 30 , 2018. First the good things i) The cook is excellent and even customizes the food. He was particularly helpful when requested to prepare special meals for my son . He even cooked maggi for us. A big thumbs up for him ! The hotel really does not deserve him. ii) Nice location - just 200 metres from the beach. iii) The owner - Henrique and his wife are very courteous and helpful Now the negatives i) Beware - this hotel does not have any rooms with sea views. What you get is glimpses of the sea in between buildings and coconut trees. Most properties in Agonda actually have better views ii) No value for money and utter lack of professionalism - Breakfast / lunch takes 1 hour to 1.5 hours from the time you order. Beware - if you have to take break fast at 9 AM , order by 7 AM . The bedding is not at all clean and very clumsy. The bathroom is all rusted. Paying 10,000 INR - around 100 pounds and yet you do not have a AC in the room iii) Room service is something which you need to request again and again - On the day of check in the service boy told me very rudely that they cannot come for room service and almost ordered me to take food in the restaurant. It was only when I paid him some bucks that he agreed. iii) The hotel boys and staff (except cook) are very lethargic . They have very few guests in the restaurant (while other hotels are filled up) and they are not willing to work unless their owner is present. Very unprofessional. Infact it is only when Henrique is present that they tend to work actively. iv) Wifi is very poor though they have individual wifi modems in each room. They dont seem to work. All in all - this is a 15 - 20 pound home run guest house and does not deserve to be a 100 pounds room. Its a pity that the owner is very helpful and the cook is very good. But the lack of all round professionalism has left it in a sad state of affairs, They show footbal matches on saturdays and sundays on a giant projector and it is only then that they have some guests . Otherwise the guesthouse receives very few footfalls !! Would not recommend this. There are tons of better places to stay in Agonda. Dunhill on the beach is by far the best . There are many others which are very good as well. But this is certainly not upto the mark. With a little bit more professionalism , this could be converted to a good hotel. However there is no care or concern for the same. Cheers!

The property is fantastically located but the standard of the rooms is way below the rating given. The towels were crispy for want of a better phrase and the bathroom was rusty and there was no hot water. The beach view was actually a balcony facing a rubbish dump area and I could not see the sea unless inside and through gaps in various buildings that obscured it. Outside our rooms was a communal area with a bed and fridge which indicated more of a hostel vibe. I am always happy with basic accommodation if clean but this was a £20 a night accommodation not £75 in my opinion. Staff were friendly and accommodating but I felt a few basic improvements would justify that price Agonda beach is beautiful and the accommodation could not be more conveniently located though.

Since I last reviewed this guesthouse two years ago we have stayed 4 more times and now do not bother moving to another hotel during our holiday. It really is the most conveniently placed in Agonda being right in the centre. We find the family friendly but not intrusive and the staff helpful. The watchful eye of the oldest member of the family makes sure that nothing escapes their attention for long. This year the evening food was excellent. Their attempts to overcome poor local Wi-Fi are ongoing and had some success. The use of the restaurant area for showing large screen football matches ensures that there is no disruption from loud music or late night revels and at present there are no adjoining properties making noise. The price is very fair for the amenities offered. There is no WOW factor but solid reliability has moved this property up to a 5 in my book.
