Detailed Reviews
We really enjoyed our stay here. The location by the cool clear waters of the Ganges is stunning and you are never far from the sound of soothing, rushing water. Teaching here is excellent, the schedule is really packed and helps you to unwind from the pressures of everyday living. We had a big room with hot showers but some of the older rooms had elephant bath only. Oddly we really enjoyed the elephant bath and didn't bother using the showers. They are building new accommodation at the moment which should be open soon and all new rooms will have hot showers. We found the meditation and chanting hard at first but soon got used to it. and quickly learned to enjoy it. It is a quiet and secluded place and feels far from the from the hustle and bustle of nearby Rissikesh and has some stunning nature walks nearby Overall it was a truly authentic yoga experience and is definitely an ashram rather than a retreat allowing for lots of personal growth. The food was excellent, the cooks do an amazing job using spices mainly grown at the ashram. Not a criticism but a warning that the ashram is in a shaded part of the valley so it can get very cold in the evenings and early morning. Staff are very helpful and will supply extra blankets if you need them. Many of the people on our retreat had visited before or had it recommended by a friend as we had.

I visited Phool Chatti Ashram in the last week of September 2021 for the 7 day yoga retreat. And the experience was surreal to say the least. The ashram is nestled right on the bank of Ganga, and surrounded by forests on all sides. You can hear ganga gushing down all day round. The new ashram building is built with a modern viewpoint, and yet is very close to nature. The building is beautiful and view from each of the rooms is beautiful. Food served is highly nutritious and you will not want to miss on any meal while staying in the ashram. The gardens are full of different types of flowers, vegetables and other plants. The yoga hall had a different kind of vibe where you feel calm as soon as you step inside it. Lalita mam conducts the yoga course and is teaching yoga for more than a decade there. The program is well structured, and it's one of the best options for anyone looking to rediscover themselves, feel relaxed and become happy and healthy. I will be waiting to come here again and experience the fulfillment again. Thanks Lalita ji, Meenakshi ji and Phool Chatti Ashram.

This ashram is in a perfectly beautiful setting, perched just above the Ganges River, with excellent views from the guest rooms and the dining area. We were able to have a large yoga room for an entire week, with our own yoga instructor, and we were also invited to participate in some of the ashram's rituals, which were very meaningful. The food was very good, and the staff was extremely helpful. On-site massages were offered for extra cost, and those were also excellent. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious, each with its own balcony.

This was my first solo trip, and it was the best experience I could've asked for. Phool chatti ashram is located at a very beautiful location, surround by Ganga and mountains, one of the best in Rishikesh. The new ashram rooms are very clean and beautiful. I attended 7 day Yoga retreat in March, and every day was energinsing and well planned. I met some amazing people here, everyone was really kind and helpful. The food they serve is delicious. The yoga instructor Lalita ji and whole staff is very nice and humble, felt like a big happy family.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a change in life or looking for well balanced yoga and meditation.

First timer in India and at an Ashram. Left the Ashram with my heart full and mind at peace!!!
Best of both worlds, program is done mainly at the old ashram and accommodations at the new facilities (hotel type rooms, wifi, dinning hall). You will get immersed in the yogic life without having to suffer, guess it is best for first timers.
Food is amazing, couldn’t had enough on each meal. Its not buffet but you get served as much aa you want on each meal.
Lalita Ji, Patricia and Sue (instructor and aids) project great energy but with such a calm that helps you reach your objective.

I immediately felt calm and relaxed on arrival and was made to feel welcome by the friendly Ashram staff. My room was clean and provided me with a serene environment to rest, journal and contemplate my experiences each day. The ashram is perfectly placed overlooking the mountains and the amazing Ganga River, the sound of her flow was so powerful and continuously provides a soothing comfort. My highlight was chanting, meditating on the banks and bathing in this powerful river, such a life changing process for me.
I had an amazing experience connecting with a special group of people, supported and nurtured by Lalita Ji, Patricia and Sue.
The food was delicious and plentiful! So many meaningful mind and body transformational experiences each day with meditation, yoga, chanting, beautiful nature walks, yoga philosophy discussions and Kirtan each evening. I was so grateful for the opportunity to have relaxing Ayurvedic massage and an incredible sound healing session with Patricia whilst at the retreat. I highly recommend this Ashram and look forward to returning again soon.

Perfect place for those who are looking for an Ashram life. Surrounded by moutains and placed on Ganges River's bank, Phool Chatti Ashram is full of love, dedication and yoga.
Lalita Ji is Ashram's and yoga's program cordinator and is always there for any questions or to provide the best yoga experience for the students with love and generosity.
The Ashram has two buildings. One is the old Ashram where we do the Puja, Asanas, Meditation and Kirtan.
The other building is brand new and is where the accommodations, kitchen and a new yoga studio are placed. Both buildings are used in the program and this is a pleasure.
A delicious original vegeterian Indian food is served three times a day.
The whole program is intense and beautiful.
I'll return to Phool Chatti Ashram for sure. I do recommend.
It is really frustrating when some person doesn't finish the program and don't know about Ashram's life and then makes a unfair review. Miss Lena Rossbach was in the same week as mine, but she left the program in the begining. She mentioned that didn't received a towel, but all participants received an email with some instructions and requesting to bring your own towel. I think that the participant should come to Ashram and to retreat with some humble behavior and willing to learn how Ashram's life is leaving some wrong expectations behind.
Namaste.

I visited the ashram in july and I can say it's the best 7 days I have spend in my ongoing 25 years life.
It's a place where one can find peace of mind, rejuvenate themselves and go deep inside in the silence of the place.
All the activities will cheer you up. Food is more like home, you will surely not miss home fir that and the environment is breathtaking.
One must visit the place even if you don't feel like to go as this experience will surely enhance your way of thinking and increase your life.
Thanks to Lalita mam for giving us this ride of joy.
Thanks to entire people of phool chatti Ashram.

If you are looking for an authentic yoga and meditation retreat this is the place. The new building is amazing - very comfortable but simple. The Ashram still remains the same, the Ganga views just by the gate and the atmosphere it brings to the retreats is unique. The yoga master Lalita Ji lives the yoga concepts on her daily life. But be prepared for an inner job during the first 2 days - this is the time the mind and body takes to get used to the routine and discipline of the Ashram life. If you only want the "good things" of the retreat (to be in a nice place, do yoga asanas and have good food) better to go to some "yoga resort".
I have been here for a couple of times and it is hard to believe people can write bad reviews about Phool Chatti. In my opinion the less prepared to face your shadows you are, the bigger the chances you don’t like the retreat (any retreat, anywhere in the world).

With utmost respect, I must say that I was surprised by Lena Rossbach’s negative review. I just completed the same 7 day yoga and meditation program that she left prematurely, and my experience, as always, was fantastic. I have travelled from New York a number of times to participate in the 7 day yoga and meditation program, and each time I do it makes me want to come again. As clearly explained on the Phool Chatti website, the yoga and meditation program is taught by Lalita Nand Ji, as she has selflessly done for the past 20 years. Many of us in the west (as I originally did) think that “yoga” is merely the asana, or exercise. In true yoga teaching however it is taught that asana is but one part of a many-limbed way of life to improve mind/body/spirit. Lalita Ji does a masterful job of introducing the yogic way of life to a beginner/intermediate audience, and in addition to two asana classes the day is filled with a whole range of spiritual activities to include meditation, philosophical teachings, and a daily contemplative nature walk through spectacular scenery.
Regarding the Phool Chatti staff, my experience of them has been that they are always friendly and courteous. I am sure there was no malicious intent behind the forgotten total.
In summary, if you are looking for an experience of the totality of the yogic lifestyle, I highly recommend you come. I will surely be back!
