I love staying in historic residences that have been repurposed into boutique hotels, and my stay here was a memorable one. I stayed in room 6, which is one of the principal guest rooms with a balcony facing the Plaza Honorato and the historic blue-painted Iglesia Parroquial Mayor -- be sure to climb the church's bell tower for a great...

Sancti Spiritus did impress us much more than Trinidad. It gives you a splendid mix of a historic township and todays citizens. Unlike Trinidad, which is wholly owned by tourists. The Hostal del Rijo fits extremely well into this environment, traditional building, very well kept, very close to the city center (Parque Central). We had a large room with balcony...

We stayed at the Rijo for 1 night as part of the Thomas Cook Classic Cuba Tour. We arrived very late at night as our flight had been delayed so we didn't get to experience it properly. Our room was one inside with no windows but the air-conditioning work very well. We were told by other members of the group...

I was suffering through a mediocre dinner in the inner courtyard of the hotel when a number of elderly tourists arrived on an escorted tour. Although numerous hotel employees were standing around, none made any effort to help the guests as they struggle up the stairs with their heavy bags. When I first arrived and asked the maitre d'hotel for...

Departing from our usual routine of staying in casa particulates, we splurged on this boutique hotel right in the center of town. Arriving via taxi-particular at 2 a.m. from Santa Clara, (I had reserved ahead of time) we chose one of several rooms offered, and slept soundly in gigantic colonial beds.(The stay was an exploratory expedition, to check-out places I...

To find such an oasis of calm in this little town was wonderful. Hotel was full of character with lovely restaurant and tinkling fountain. Staff were very polite and helpful. Hotel situated right in centre. Opposite hotel was a very good and characterful restaurant .

We stayed here just for one night, the room we had was large with a high ceiling and had lots of character, the meals were nice, it is just down the road from the Plaza, it would have been nice to have had a little longer but we were on a Thomas Cook tour

A charming old colonial building in the centre of there city. Staff were amazing and ensured a friendly and enjoyable stay. Rooms were spacious but basic, everything else made up for this. Cool courtyard and central balcony full of plants. Bar and restaurant overlooking a square. Walking distance of all the sights in the City.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Rijo. I chose this location because of it's history - it was at one time the original location of my mother's primary school. The hotel maintains charming colonial architecture and design. The staff are very accommodating, and breakfast is wonderful.

This colonial style hotel is the best location in Sancti Spiritus. It lies at spitting distance of the Yayabo bridge, the Parque Serafín Sánchez and the pedestrian boulevard, which is as much of a shopping street as you'll get in Cuba. Request for rooms 6, 7 or 8, because they are at the first floor overlooking the Plaza Honorato. The...
