A wonderful evening from start to finish. The staff are friendly, down to earth yet very knowledgable and professional. The rooms all looked lovely and the room temperature was just right, even on a very blustery, wintery evening. The food was quite simply stunning. King Scallops with bacon, cooked to perfection. Gravadlax served with prawns and crab outstanding. The Cod...

We've just had the most lovely relaxed Sunday lunch in the bar at The Sportsmans Arms! Meandering on the country road out of Pateley Bridge you come to the Wath turnoff and over the little hump back bridge and into the pub car park. A warm fire and bar staff greeted us with friendly chat. A very interesting menu -...

Turn north off the A59 that goes through the small town of Pateley Bridge and you enter beautiful Upper Nidderdale. The road is effectively a no-through road (ok there is another road over the fells) to Wath, Ramsgill,Lofthouse and Middlesmoor. Each of these are charming villages and all four have charming pubs (the Ramsgill one is turned into an upmarket...

We walked from Pateley Bridge to The Sportmans Arms and had lunch of sandwiches which were spot on, so we decided to pay a visit the following evening. We certainly weren't disappointed , I had the steak which was cooked to perfection (and I am very particular about my steaks, I expect them to be done as I want and...

Went yesterday evening for a bar meal and even though the place was packed the very friendly lady arranged an extra table for three of us. We had an excellent meal all freshly cooked. Very friendly bar staff and waitresses. Dogs are welcome in the bar. If you are in the Pateley Bridge area you must give this Hotel a...

This hotel is a couple of miles from Patley Bridge, and was well worth the walk. Nice helpful staff and good 'trendy' rooms. We ate in the restaurant - a bot of a shame as there was only us and 1 other couple in - we'd have prefered to eat in the bar, but you can't book a table in...

We ate here in the bar last night and boy oh boy were we in for a treat. You cannot book a table in the bar, so it's pot luck, but worth it if there is space. After our starters, my wife had the Codling and I had the Roe Deer. Both were beautifully cooked and presented. The bar area...

I should have realised when I queued at the bar to see if they had a table for 3 for lunch that this was going to be a long lunch . Lovely menu with lots of fish dishes and able to do gluten free . Gave order for food at bar and then ordered drinks . Expected to take them...

Taking our friend out for lunch she suggested the Sportsman's which my wife and I had not visited since the 70s when my father & mother were tenants of the pub The greeting was so nice it made us feel welcome and the bar was busy with diners The young lady with a wonderful smile explained the slate board menu...

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, comfortable room, food excellent - huge portions, beware. Surrounded by fields with sheep and rabbits and views of the Yorkshire Dales. Will definitely go back. The bed was rather firm for us - but then lots of people might prefer that and maybe the rooms differ and you can ask when booking.
