Spice Village is an eco resort in the hills(thekkady) near the Periyar wildlife sanctuary. A cluster of tribal style huts set in a beautiful spice garden is a great escape for most tourists from the heat of the plains, and also a great place for some adventure activities. We have a comfortable pool, an ayurvedic spa, we organise treks into the forest, bamboo rafting and many more. A walk through the property itself is a great way to explore many aspects of nature and the green initiatives undertaken at this eco resort.

From start to finish, this place has been the most amazing eco-friendly stays for us. We were greeted with deepam and bottu. Followed by a nature expert named, Preeti educating us of the eco-friendly features of the property that is collaboratively maintained with local tribals. It consists of natural air-ventilated cottages with thatched roofs with their own organic gardens, composting and biogas facilities. This superbly well-maintained property has rooms pleasant and comfortable and the outside the most beautiful and prized flora. Ayurveda massage facility at its best. My therapist, Sumesh who was knowledgable, caring and possessed magical hands! The entire staff made us feel at-home! We left the place more rested, healthier and more inspired to preserve the bounties of Mother Earth!

Amazing Hospitality..
Right from the time of booking till the time we departed back; their services were incredible.. The resort is around 18-20 acres and is a huge property.
To start with, Ms.Renju in the front office helped us in booking a deluxe cottage with special discounts and packages. Once we entered the property, our whole car and baggages were sanitized, and we were asked to sanitize ourselves too. Then, we were greeted by Renju with lamps and Tika. She took us through the entire property and explained the speciality of the elephant grass roof above the cottages on the way.
Our Room was perfectly ready and there were santizers kept outside every cottage to clean our hand once we touch the handles..They took extra care of these small things and made it perfect. The bed & linen were clean and neat with a 'sanitized' tag. Special kudos to Ms.Treza, the House keeping head for taking Care of all our in-room accessories.
The Master Chef understood our taste on the 1st go itself and catered delicacies fantabulously throughout our stay. Thanks to Jivin & Lijo for reminding us to give food orders regularly.
We were highly impressed with their restaurant's service. 1st, they allot a speicifc table for each family and request us to sit in the same table every time for hygiene purposes. 2nd, once a family leaves the table, they immediately remove the seat cushions and send it for sanitizing to the laundry. 3rd, even though they have free breakfast for the guests; they have restricted everything to ala carte so that the guests won't touch the same utensils to fill their plates. That's highly appreciated as the ala carte food orders are served hygienic, fresh and hot as per our requirement.
The Games Master - Mr. Francis has talent in playing all the games in the activity center. He is very very humble, and has an activity for every guest to keep them engaged. To mention specially, he has got a special skill of hitting the ball and moving the coin into the glass on the billiards table. That's a special stroke we all admired.
The naturalists Mr. Balu and Mr. Sharath were very helpful in arranging our jeep safaris and boat rides. They are too good to engage in an interesting conversation about the place. The property has an amazing collection of old trees and they have a fun activity for kids to find out & match the names of trees in a notebook.
The resort manager Mr.Hari kept enquiring us often about how things are going and looked into our needs frequently.

This was my first trip to Thekkady, albeit the fact that I am from Kochi. The 4 hour drive was easy enough, the roads were good and smooth, just make sure you stick to the highway, and don't let Google maps convince you to take any shortcuts. We reached Spice Village around 12:00, all our luggage was sanitized, which is the norm these days, and we were offered welcome drinks. Then the staff gave us a verbal tour of the property, it's a 12 acre property with 52 cottages.

The property is filled with many varieties of trees and plants and the cottages are arranged in steps among the trees, it really felt like another world there, so peaceful and full of birds chirping around you. We did spot a hornbill and a Malabar squirrel.

The cottages have thatched roofs and clay floor tiles, and comes with all the modern amenities that you expect in a premium property.

The staff at the property were all very courteous and attentive, and accommodated our every request. The food was amazing, we tried all varieties of chicken, beef, fish and vegetarian dishes and every one of them was amazing.

There are couple of activities at there property itself to keep guests occupied like a classical dance performance, cooking demonstration, property tour, a museum, a nature club with a qualified naturist to tell you about all the flora and fauna you see around the property.

It was really a blissful, magical and relaxing 2 days we spent at the CHG Spice Village.

Keep up the excellent work.

Me and my wife had been to Spice Village on the weekend prior to Republic Day.. We started getting the good vibes the moment we stepped here with our Aarthi being done to welcome us and the front office staff spending almost 30mins briefing us about the group and the property and enquiring about our journey to the resort
The room was very well sanitized and very well appointed.. The resort also sent us an introductory video about our room the day prior to our check in explaining the facilities available (for a contactless demo) , which I think was very thoughtful way to adhere to COVID protocols
The restaurant was close by and I must say that the food was very delicious!! This coupled along with the courteous and friendly nature of the the staff made every visit to the restaurant an unforgettable experience in itself!! The restaurant also had tables reserved for every room to ensure that no one else used the table other than the specific guests, which was a unique way of keeping up with the COVID protocols..
There were also activities arranged within the resorts in the evening like cookery classes and cultural programmes to keep the guests entertained which I feel was a very nice touch!!
With the resort being spread over 12 acres one has an opportunity to explore the scenic landscaped surroundings during any time of the day..
In a nutshell, Spice Village got all the points ticked on our checklist - Courteous staff, Delicious Food and a Beautiful Property!!
We will definitely be coming back again and would recommend this to anyone visiting Thekkady!!!
Thank you to all the staff at CGH Earth - Spice Village for making our trip a memorable one!!

We loved staying at this CGH property - the attention to detail is fantastic and the eco credentials are impeccable. Loved the resort, the accommodation and the food. Our only complaint is not to do with the hotel, but the Periyar boat trip didn't live up to expectations - crowded onto small boats with potential safety issues.

Arun, Lizo, Francis, Sharad and rest of the team. Thanks for making our stay memorable. You guys went to great lengths to make sure we have a pleasant stay. Care was taken to ensure sanitized contact points which is important during these times. We being vegetarians have limited choices from the food menu, however our off-menu requests were served even during odd hours. Complimentary room decor, candle light table decor, cake 🎂 etc really touched us.

Some suggestions(to an already 5 stars property) 1. Yoga setup can be imporved 2. Salt and pepper are all moist in those paper bags 3. Try changing the snacks menu during daily evening tea.

Stopped here as part of a tour of Kerala and now wished we had booked for a few days rather than just overnight. A great eco friendly resort from bamboo straws to solar powered plus recycling so much of the water they use. The accommodation is large cottages within the grounds which are again eco friendly. Before booking any trips or excursion check with the hotel as they do a few complimentary events. We did the Nature Trail (which includes how they recycle paper) plus a cookery class in the main restaurant. This resort/hotel is a must if you are visiting Thekkady

We loved Spice Village!!! It’s very close to one of the entrances to the national park, and is a set of cosy and clean bungalows that wind between various trees and spices growing. They have a nice (but cold) pool and amazingly attentive staff. Balu the staff naturalist was very informative and helpful and really went above and beyond to help us. They all put on loads of stuff to do- from cooking demonstrations, traditional dance performances and a tour through the grounds where you can see how they make paper. A troop of rare monkeys even made a memorable appearance one evening, arriving on the roof above us. On arrival they also helped us book activities to do in the park the following day which was great. Also the breakfasts were fantastic - sweet cardamom dosas were delicious. Will be returning again.

Imagine waking up inside a beautifully made luxury hut nestled in the middle of a spice plantation with black monkeys swaying around trees right above you. Imagine waking up to peahens around your cottage!
Yes this is Spice Village, a well thought of concept where one has an intimate connection with nature, admiring greenery with its freshness along with finger licking local cuisine and delicacies served at their restaurant Tamarind Tree.
Spice Village is right at the border of Periyar Sanctuary, about 4 hours from Kochi. This quiet, serene town is known for its elephant camps, cultural center and the wildlife sanctuary.
Back to the resort! Soni Mathews, their team manager, was extremely helpful and very supportive. Our kids simply loved her company! Ayyub at the reception was always ready to help and assured us the safety of the property.
Which resort would have a naturalist?! Girish and Preeti introduced us to the plantation, the wildlife and even showed us a presentation of the sanctuary. The entire property was properly sanitized and the staff was vaccinated. We were even invited for their plantation ceremony and served us their local cuisine. The cottage was very clean, hygienic with RO water, fresh coffee powder and a spacious washroom.. Extra bedding was provided with any extra cost.
All in all, an incredible place to have your dream holiday.
We were really really happy and amazed at their hospitality and warm service.
Hats off to CGH and all people working at Spice Village!!!

This is the most cherished holiday by us and our kids. Spice Village Thekkady entire team is so loving and caring right from thier General Manager, front office staff, restaurants staff, Nature club team, housekeeping all were just amazing and so warm and friendly. Our kids felt so happy and safe like own place. We are grateful to each and everyone for the brilliant hospitality. This was our second trip to Spice Village and we were so cheerful and relaxed.
Francis Sir, helps you enjoy all the sports like TT, basketball, badminton, lawn tennis etc
Our kids enjoyed sports and swimming pool so much, it's absolutely neat and clean and oxidized pool. One family gets chance to swim at one time and then another it's quite safe and hygienic that ways.
Preethi from Nature's team has vast knowledge and so explained everything so beautifully to little minds and us, we enjoyed hand made paper activity with her. She is so amazing. Our kids adore her. We look forward to spend our future vacation again here.
This property is well sanitized and safe especially during this pandemic time, they taking all care and precautions.
Thank you so much and best wishes for all future endeavors.
