We had to stay in Friuli during Christmas and have chosen this hotel (not a real Relais I must say) last minute. We only wanted a clean and calm room. They gave us a 2nd floor room with a fantastic mountain view. They cleaned the room every day. The heating system was perfect, stable and not too warm, not too cold. The staff was very kind. The price was fair and half than the other hotels we tried before (which don’t even deserve) surrounding our place. So I had doubts first, but we have seen only a few old people as guests. No music, no screaming children. It was like heaven- The walls are thin and you can hear every step and crack in that countryside silence but we were lucky to have decent people as neighbor-guests. We enjoyed the great panorama and visit San Daniele center everyday. There’s a modern looking restaurant in the hotel just in case you don’t want to leave. We will definitely turn back when we need to stay there.

We spent a night at the Relais Picaron two weeks ago both for business and pleasure.
We checked in relatively early and Alessandro - the very nice guy at the reception, gave us a quainted room at the second floor overlooking the countryside.
The room was really nice, like a mountain cabin, with wooden furniture and checked fabrics at the window. Cleanliness everywhere.
The place was very calm, no noise even if it's not far from the center of the village.
Buffet breakfast was excellent, with a quite good variety of food.
Staff is extremely polite and kind and they try to accommodate your needs.
We will definitey come back to the Relais Picaron should the need arise.
Mention of honor to Alessandro, very professional and cooperative.

What a great place. We have stayed here multiple times while visiting family. The location is perfect, overlooking San Daniele on one side and the Italian Alps on the other. You can be at the beach (Lignano), wine country (Collio) or the Alps on the Austrian border in just over an hour. The staff is kind and helpful. The breakfast is our favorite. Great restaurants abound in San Daniele to satisfy all or your prosciutto cravings. Would not think of staying anywhere else

Avoid this hotel. We checked in and when we saw the room we immediately left. Broken door knobs, dirty shower, old furniture, banged up walls and elevator. The room was a horror. It was shocking to see the room because the photos on the internet misrepresent the condition of the rooms. It was so bad that we left, which is something we never do. We explained to the clerk that we could not stay in such a run down hotel. The hotel billed our credt card anyway. Do not stay at this hotel.

My wife and I stayed here on a trip that was part business, part pleasure. Had originally booked a house in the area but cancelled a few days ahead of the trip due to concerns about hot weather. Relais Picaron was a pleasant surprise. The grounds and property are well-kept. There is also a nice view of old San Daniele. The room was small (as are most European rooms), but clean and comfortable. We especially appreciated the climate control and free internet. Staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast included many items (fruit, meat, cheese, pastries, yogurt, cereals) and the attendant was very helpful. Overall we enjoyed our stay here.

I arrived in the dark so missed out of the scenic location until I checked out in the morning!
Reception was warm and friendly in English and Italian, the double room was small and functional (shower head had good pressure but the head was rubbish). However the bed was comfortable and they had full Italian sky TV.
Highlight was dinner which had a good mixture of local dishes and the normal. All courses were great with a chatty waitresses.
Breakfast was above average on choice and range.
Overall nice hotel, great food but OK accommodation

The hotel is located in Picaron and a very quick drive into central San Daniele. It attracts bus tours. Rooms are very spartan, including only providing you with one glass per room. “Some mini bars work and some don’t.” The showers are extremely tiny. Breakfast is adequate but feels like a cafeteria. The front desk has no maps and is very unhelpful with directions. Music plays from restaurant until 10pm, mostly 90s pop. Outside deck was closed. Hotel needs renovation.

We had 25 cousins descend on this hotel this month and they were wonderful. The rooms were lovely. Clean. The staff is very nice. The breakfast is amazing. And the onsite restaurant is really good.
Highly recommend this hotel. Great central location for the area.

Lovely small hotel in a peaceful setting. A short walk or drive into San Daniele, where you will eat the BEST prosciutto you have ever tasted. Rooms are spotless and charming. The breakfast is so good, we stayed an additional night just to partake one more time. A good location for day trips, we drove to Austria for lunch one day!
