Booked in for a Sunday night after an old friends birthday bash, the staff were very helpful and polite, breakfast this morning was perfectly cooked and presented, our room was comfortable and very clean, if we are in the area again we would without doubt stay here again.

The view from the terrace is amazing, ever changing. The staff are cheerful and helpful. The room was perfectly adequate. Sadly, although the building is old and beautiful on the outside, when the bedrooms were created they have hidden any traditional features and the rooms could be any hotel room. However it was roomy, comfortable, nicely decorated, clean and had...

A lovely setting on the river Hamble, giving great views from the terrace or window tables in the restaurant, warm if slightly eclectic service, and food was good though not exceptional. Quite difficult to find this from the road - considerably easier from the river, but a lovely setting on a summer's evening. The food is good value and well...

Generous portion of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs or full english with choice of eggs. Table with juices and cereals, all very welcome ahead of a day's sailing on the Solent for us as visitors. Balcony amazing, welcome warm. Will be back.

Had a nice lunch on the veranda of the Royal Southern. Wonderful view of the River Hamble. Very professionally run with excellent service from the bar staff, and food of a very good standard. We only used the Bar and balcony area, but would like to return to try the restaurant. We were actually so impressed that we've asked to...

Located along the Beaulieu River ( Montague side) before the Marina at Buckler's Hard. We booked a boat club lunch. 3 courses - chicken salad; choice of cod stack, pork, steak and ale pie ; blackberry cheesecake, chocolate torte, rhubarb pie, apple crumble. All ex entry presented and cooked. Very small enterprise. Few staff. Occasional openings- Wednesday lunch and w/e...

This place is in a prime location for enjoying Hamble. Service was very good as was breakfast. The rooms are not massive and the walls are very thin. It seems to have had a makeover of late but perhaps they skimped a little on the materials as the finish is a bit cheap. With that said it's well worth a...

Twenty one of us for lunch, 11 adults, and ten children, we celebrated a Birthday and Golden Wedding Anniversary on Easter Day. Sean and his "crew" looked after us admirably...we had a selection from the lunch Menu, fish (haddock in shrimp sauce) roast beef, and lamb, all cooked to perfection. The vegetables were beautifully cooked, and copious! The Bar Staff...

You know things will go badly when the receptionist has to leave her desk to escort you through the maze of corridors to find your room... Whilst the room was spacious (horizontally) and immaculately clean, things rapidly went down hill from there. A sloping room made left me with only a minority of the room I could stand up in...

Stayed here in April. Lovely clean and well furnished rooms. The bar overlooking the river has a terrace where you can sit and watch the sun going down. Had dinner in the restaurant, which was amazing! Staff really friendly and helpful.
