You can stay and live like the real landlord and enjoy the truly innocent village lifestyle. It is 5 acre resort, with rooms built only 10% of the area and rest of the area is fully trees, greenery, play area, tennis court, etc. The rooms are neat and clean with red oxide flooring, which keeps the room very cool (also you have AC in all the rooms).

Food is prepared is an homely style and with lots love, passion and hospitality towards their guest. That makes their food very tasty. They provide mostly south indian food (idly, dosa, rice, chappathi, chicken, fish, fried rice, noodles, bread omelette etc.). You get very good fresh lake fish from the famous big VEERANAM lake close (2KM) to the resort. They also give you fresh picked tender coconut from their farm.

To ice the cake, their care and hospitality was very good! Their communication is good with decent English (they have many foreign guest mostly!). Their team headed by Mr. Suresh (The Captain), Padma (The vice captain - All-in-All), Ramesh (Guardian / Care Taker), Padma (The super chef! ) is always there for you with ring of a bell! (you will understand when you go there).

Enjoy! Relax @ Landlord Bungalow!

Apart from the Heritage feel and Soundar...everything else was sad. All the other won't care for any of your request. In room a lot of things didnt work and even after requesting and complaining they wont replace things like the kettle that didn't work, AC remote didnt work, etc. Food for every meal you have order atleast 4 hours prior. You cant order anything after that and there is no place to eat otherwise nearby also. The food that we ordered we wanted with no spice for children and came spicy and when asked they said they will replace but replaced the same food with sugar added in it. Breakfast wasnt good as well. There was no salt in almost most of the items. With the heritage feel expected more tastier rural food. Overall very average..

For the price I paid this place was excellent. The property was excellent, very Heritage looking and green.
If they spruce up the rooms and upkeep they can charge double.
The rooms and bathrooms were clean and beds comfortable.
I enjoyed the nice South Indian breakfast.
Great place to start the Ponniyin Selvan trail.

Our main purpose was a visit to the Vaitheeswaran kovil temple. I wanted a decent place to stay so looked for accommodation in Chidambaram.

First of all the Google maps location of this place is wrong. It showed us an area in Chidambaram town based on which I planned the entire journey (since it was a road trip) but in reality this was 17km away from the main town, appx 40 min by car. This significantly changed our travel time!

The resort as such was big but very poorly maintained. Of course the staff explained that the pandemic has taken a big hit on business, that’s understandable. But in that case they shouldn’t accept bookings.

The rooms were run down, smelled of pesticide, so much that I started sneezing through the night. It didn’t have toiletries, or proper garbage disposal. There were cobwebs behind doors. WiFi wasn’t working. Laundry service was non existent. Bedding was dirty. There were lots of mosquitoes. I’m mentioning all of these here because the amenities section on MMT said all of these were available

The most problematic thing was, they didn’t have a fully functioning kitchen. Since we travelled with a toddler we required milk often but they didn’t have it. They tried accommodating our requests as much as possible.
I had booked via MMT with a complimentary breakfast package. But in the morning when we asked they said they ONLY have idlies for breakfast! No idea why that was called as complimentary breakfast!

The ONLY reason I’m giving even 2 stars is for the courteous and polite staff. They tried being as accommodating as possible.

Would definitely not go back here!

Poorly maintained rooms - completely run down. The fan just stopped working in the middle of the night and it was very hot. Religious prayers begin at 5:00 AM They are so loud that’s it’s impossible to sleep post that.
The only upside is that the staff is great.

We had planned a family trip to Chidambaram, with my senior citizen parents and 5 year old. As I was looking for a comfortable stay, booked 2 nights at lakshmi vilas. Though the prices were on the higher side, was really looking forward to a quiet stay.

When we checked in around 2 pm put down the lackadaisical check in to afternoon stupor. When I stepped out around 3 pm to look for a missing spoon to make tea and ask for a missing tea bag which I had already asked for 10 minutes ago, noticed the place was a beehive of activity. A group of foreigners were being received with garlands, juice and people were

scurrying about putting their luggage away..Irritated as I had just paid Rs 10200 for a 2 night stay, which merited some basic service at least.

As I was explaining to the manager that there was no spoon or stirrer to make tea/coffee, my 5 year old wandered up and exclaimed happily at the bowl of peanut candy kept there for the party that was checking in. The manager didn't even offer her one!

Well, here I was paying the same as the others but not getting any service at all. And this in my home state!

We decided to check out after 1 night rather than be subject to second class treatment after having paid for first class.

I do hope the management at Lakshmi Vilas takes this seriously. No self respecting property should discriminate between guests.

It's a charming property, but what a shame!

I always had a wish to live in a village house. Lakshmi Vilas was the perfect place. around 12Km from Chidambaram in T-Nedunchery is a village T-Pathur where i found this place. Mr.Raghu was at the desk and went all the way helping us with the luggage , alloting the rooms and planning our dinner. The rooms were very good. A true village home layout with coconut and paddy fields. Has a Siva Temple too. After many years got to play gilli, Bambaram(Top) and many other village games. Veeranam lake is just 2Km and worth visiting. They have apotter who comes on request to demonstrate making pots. A roof top restaurant setup is splendid. They have TV's in all rooms but i did not waste time in them. Great place to be to know the south indian village. Great experience

Its 18km from Chidambaram. You can use Google map to travel to this location. The roads are also good. But once the map shows that you are nearing the hotel, then kindly slowdown your vehicle or you might miss the road that connects the main road and the hotel. Enjoy
