The room was basic, but clean, the knobs on the heaters were missing so we had to use the windows to regulate the temperature. the cooking was also basic, BUT we didn't realise it was a microwave / grill until the last evening, which would have helped. The shower was great, make sure you put the floor towel down. Always had hot water :)
The beds were comfortable, but as commonly found, 2 singles.
The room was fairly quiet as long as upstairs weren't in, then it wasn't, please don't walk round in heels if your above other rooms.
Didn't really use the tv so don't know if the channels were any good.
Due to the time of year we didn't get sun on the balcony, it just missed it, but I think you would in the summer.
There is a supermarket outside that is reasonable, but shuts at 9:00 so if you arrive late like us, take a walk down the road to Dealz as they opened much later.
It is a 15 - 20 min walk to the beach front, but we knew that anyway.
The pool was cold, but I braved it once on our first day. The waterpark was shut, but I would have probably been too big anyway :) :) (we knew this was closed before we booked)
The indoor pool was ok ( luckily we saw a review saying you needed caps, so we were prepared) The indoor pool area could be so much nicer with very little work. only 1/3 of the hot tub worked, could just fit 2 people in the working bit.
didn't try the sauna
We were shown around the gym by one of the managers, ( no special treatment he was just at the desk when we were asking to get in) You have to ask for a keycard to access the gym, the first time I used it I had to clear yogurt pots off the floor, which was a bit off putting. Again the gym could be so much better with a little thought. Needed-, towels to wipe equipment, access to drinking water, TV screen or low level music. a good wipe down, as some bits were sticky. Saying all this it is probably the best equipped gym in any hotel I've been to. Various bits of cardio and lots of weights and other equipment. I was in with 6 people and there was no problem with having equipment to use. With a clean up I would easily class the gym as excellent.
The Bar staff were fabulous, very hard working, and putting up with a few very rude people, usually people on AI. If your not all inclusive you just pay at the bar. ( average prices for Albir, I had cheaper and more expensive drinks elsewhere)
The shows were average, nothing to write home about, although we weren't in for all of them.
Overall I would stay at Albir Garden Resort again as Albir is a nice place to come. If you are self catering I can recommend the Sunrise restaurant, the Brewrock and church bars, and for coffee Zero Zero is very nice and on the front.
We just could believe that the hotel had changed so much, had we known that it was all inclusive now we would never of gone there again... it was totally manic & Loveholidays did absolutely nothing to help. If you want a quiet, peaceful holidayDON’T GO THERE unless you go in the winter. It’s a damned shame because it use to be such a nice place..... can’t fault the staff though, they did all they could.
The hotel it’s self was spotlessly clean, the sun beds, tables and chairs were packed away when not being used and there was no shortage of sun beds all day. The water park was great and the pool had a life guard late into the evening which my kids loved. The big pool was really really deep so any non swimmers would need a noodle.
We had all inclusive and the food was good, there was theme nights. The restaurant gets really busy and the staff work really hard to keep the food topped up and tables cleaned. The food was fine and differed everyday.
The bar staff were friendly and polite overall. The one bedroom apartment was a little cramped with 2 teenagers and the beds were not ideal for 2 tall teens. The rooms are ok maybe a little update was needed.
We didn’t really get involved in the entertainment however there seemed to be a really busy schedule for kids and adults.
We used the gym regularly and this was well equipped generally and a real bonus to the hotel.
The resort was extremely quiet due to the pandemic situation I guess. We didn’t mind - it was perfect. I think if all the units were full it would be a little busy and noisy for us.
The 1 bedroom units are perfect for a couple like us, or a family with a couple of small children. We had apartment 213 on the top floor overlooking the fabulous pool and a great mountain view too. There is a small balcony, a reasonable sized bedroom with plenty of storage and a full length mirror - so many places don’t have one! The kitchen is compact and only one electric socket. A toaster and kettle are provided. The main room has good storage, table and chairs for 4 and a double sofa bed. It’s not huge, but adequate.
The bathroom had a great shower and toiletries were provided.
There was a hairdryer and an iron in the room too.
We weren’t expecting housekeeping everyday and lovely large fresh towels everyday, so when it happened, it was a lovely bonus. Perhaps it was because the resort was so quiet
If I’m perfectly honest, it’s not the best RCI unit I’ve stayed in, but it suited our needs perfectly and we were very happy in our little home for the week. The unit was a little dated and in need of some maintenance, but nothing that distracted from our enjoyment of our holiday.
There is a great supermarket across the road and many restaurants and bars in an easy walking distance. The beach is about a 15 minute walk away. There is a bus stop right outside the resort. Even though we had our car, we used the bus to go to Altea and to Benidorm.
We found the staff very helpful and the Covid measures are great.
I would definitely go back to the resort, but probably at quieter times of the year.
Oh, I nearly forgot. There is a well equipped gym and an indoor pool.
Thank you Albir Garden Resort for giving us a happy week away!
The food was really good, having stayed in many Spanish hotels this one was one of the better ones, lots of choice and if you can’t find something to eat then the issue is you not the hotel. Snack bar was great and is open all day.
Drinks to my surprise were not just local spirits but branded drinks, excellent bar service in both the indoor and pool bar.
We paid extra for a premium room, it was nicely furnished and air con was excellent. Nice and clean.
Location wise, short walk or 5 euro taxi to the seafront, the seafront was very nicely presented with upmarket bars, shingle beach but didn’t use it. Large supermarket directly across the road and two Irish bars within 1 minute of the hotel. Didn’t visit them but will next year.
If you want a family holiday and don’t want to worry about spending money then pay the extra for the all inclusive, no brainer, kids can have ice cream and slush all day.
We enjoyed it so much we will be booking again for next year.
Thank you Albir Garden Resort, keep up the good work.
Rooms far too small for 5 people and very dated. Broken fridge door, cracked bathroom sink, plug socket hanging off the wall. Kitchen has a microwave, kettle and 2 hobs. An oven/grill would have been ideal. Air con works good but is in the living room not bedroom. No safe in the room. Room keys stop working all the time which is a faff so have to take them back to reception.
Pool area is large but the water is absolutely freezing!! The sunbeds aren’t adjustable and the parasoles around the pool don’t move either.
Entertainment is very minimum or sometimes non existent during the day. The night time shows start 10.30pm but usually run late and start closer to 11pm which is late for kids. No mini disco.
We were self catering luckily as all we heard was the all inclusive guests complaining about the food. We brought our own food and drinks to the pool as wouldnt pay the prices in the hotel.
Complained to Jet2 and reception about not having a maid in by our 5th day as with 2 kids under 5 it obviously gets messy easily. Jet2 said they’d make sure a thorough clean was done that day - didn’t happen. Went to reception the next day who claimed our room had been cleaned yesterday - which it hadn’t! Finally a maid came and done a very basic clean ie only mopped the floor. So we had 2 basic rooms cleans during our 11 nights. Not sure if all inc guests get better, more frequent room cleans!? Due to covid and the hotel not being busy we expected cleaning standards would have been better.
Number 10 bus stops right outside the hotel and goes to Benidorm where there is a lot more going on. Albir is really quiet and there is no atmosphere or buzz about the place or anywhere nearby.
My daughters have never eaten so much fruit the selection is mouthwatering
There is plenty of choice and fresh grilled.meat or fish cooked at lunch and evening meal. The staff really appreciate it when you attempt some spanish and will try to help you with it.
The local amenities are very good there is a supermarket opposite, a bazaar further down and a pharmacy near for all little items you need the bizarre sells goggles and inflatables.
I don't expect others to supervise my children when swimming like other British families and I have found that the life guards patrol the perimeter throughout their duty period. There are signs clearly displayed that after they have gone off duty to continue to swim is at our own risk which is fair enough.
The entertainment has been fun and the kids disco has been a favourite with one daughter who has been practicing all the moves despite the songs being in spanish she got the geist.
The apartment is cleaned when we leave the sign outside and towels changed when we need them to be.
The Aqua park is amazing and we love that it is on site as well. All in all we are having an amazing holiday and we have all agreed that we will be coming back next year.
If you expect a Spanish hotel catering for a more European cliente to be more British then go to Benidorm instead for your roast dinners, if you want a relaxed atmosphere which is fun then this is the place for you.
